Lupita Nyong’o at the Versace Fashion Show

Kittens, we’re afraid we must do as God intended us to do and give you the hard truths of fashion. We do it out of love; never forget that. Also because we’re really opinionated and lightly obnoxious, but let’s not muddy the waters here. Our point is this: We love Lupita. You love Lupita. Everyone loves Lupita.

Versace does not love Lupita. The hair: flamazing. The jewelry: fabulous. The garments: Oh, honey. This is the strongest, clearest, loudest case of “Girl, that’s not your look” we’ve seen in ages. This forces the question of whose look this is and we feel like a Hailee or Dakota is called for in this instance. Miss Lupita can handle tons of bold colors and the wildest of prints, but the styles here just don’t suit her at all.

And frankly, the shoes are hideous.
