Because sometimes, a Duchess needs to remind everyone she’s still living the fairy tale.
It’s a lovely, if typically (for her) neutral and low-key sort of princess gown. These sorts of official receptions aren’t the time to get stylish or attention-seeking. It’s not about looking fashionable but looking royal. Personally, we think she can accomplish that without falling back on such demure designs, but a duchess wants what a duchess wants. Besides, as long as she’s got the Lover’s Knot tiara on her head, anything she wears is going to look like perfect princess regalia. We no longer think of it as Diana’s, although we know a lot of folks have trouble letting go of the many iconic images of her wearing it. Cathy’s had it long enough to make it her own. She wears it well.
