But we sure don’t want to discourage you from trying more new things. This isn’t exactly the edgiest, most avant-garde dress in the world, so it’s not like you took that big a risk here. In truth, you look okay. It’s not a disaster. We do love the color story of the sequins, as well as the leather belt. But that lace yoke doesn’t work at all. And we’re about ready to declare the trend for puffy shoulders to be dead in the water. Rare is the woman who can make them work. Also, the skirt’s kind of stiff and bell-like.

It’s not a bad dress, but it’s just a bit too far outside her wheelhouse. Maybe Kristen Stewart is too easy a suggestion, but we definitely think the dress needs a wearer with a bit more of an edge and attitude to her.
