Ooooh, someone’s on her best behavior. From a style point of view, that is.
Lena Dunham launches her book “Not That Kind Of Girl” at the Royal Festival Hall in London, England in a Marni dress from the Fall 2014 collection.
Marni Printed Wool and Silk-Blend Dress
LOVE this. It’s youthful without reminding us of toddler clothes. The colors look great on her. It’s seasonally appropriate. It has some structure to it, instead of slouchily hanging off her. It satisfies her dual needs to be girly (in a semi-ironic way) and edgy. It actually sets off her hair nicely. These are all things that Lena Dunham has always had problems managing, so we can’t help but look at this as a huge win for her.
And if we are the cheese that stands alone on this one, we are happy to be so, but those shoes are the perfect capper to the look. If you’ll pardon the fashion-mag cover copy, it’s fresh and modern. More importantly, it suits her so well. Many will say she’s still dressing like a little girl with this look, to which we would agree, to a certain extent. But darlings, it’s a sophisticated little girl. That’s a big deal. And an improvement we’ll take.
Sounds like she had a great night, too.
