Here are the pros and cons on Chris Hardwick. On one hand, we think it’s really admirable how he’s carved out a niche for himself as America’s Number One Nerd. And while we don’t particularly love “after” shows, there’s a certain likably frenetic quality to his that make it feel like, well, a bunch of nerds sitting around geeking out over something they think is awesome, whether it’s The Walking Dead or Doctor Who. He’s not fronting. He’s a real nerd with the bona fides to go with it and he’s managed to craft a fairly successful celebrity career out of that. On the other hand…

He tends to give the impression sometimes that he thinks it’s all about him. This isn’t Comic-Con, Chris. It’s a TV show premiere event. And guess what? You’re not the star of the show. We get that he’s probably genuinely excited, but he could stand to dial it back just a bit when it’s not about him. Style-wise, we have to give him further kudos, because he’s found a look that works very well for him and he’s learned to be very consistent with it. He’s worn some variation on this hipster nerd look a thousand times before. The boots are a bit much, but everything else works fine. He just needs to shave and allow someone to put some matte powder on him before he steps out for pictures.
