It’s the Nerd Prom of the entertainment world, darlings! The TONYS! Where everyone dresses VERY safely, because attention-seekers are looked at as assholes!
Hit it, troupers!
Adele Dazeem is here to provide you with FACE.
By the way, is there an Adele Dazeem drag queen yet? There really should be by now. And this is what she should look like.
Why does she looks like she’s trying to sit down?
Loved the bright boldness of it, in a sea of safe style choices. Not in love with the hair, though.
The color – and the fact that she can pull it off – is what makes it.
Leighton Meester in Antonio Berardi
We wouldn’t have credited her with being able to work such a literal Old Hollywood look this well. She looks great.
Your moment of perfection.
Clearly, she didn’t want to be cookie-cutter. We think this is an instance where it only really works in black. Any sort of color and it becomes… we don’t know … a cucumber, a banana, a tube of toothpaste, some sort of eel. Depending on the color, of course.
We really like this for being slightly unusual. It’s true that the fabric comes off a little like upholstery, but it’s nice to see something different on a red carpet like this. The only part we really don’t like is the embellishment around the neckline, which seems unnecessary to us.
Anika Noni Rose in Badgley Mischka
LOVE. Everything is perfect.
Zachary Quinto in Thom Sweeney
Cleans up well.
Kelli O’Hara in Narciso Rodriguez
All right, there’s conservative Tony Awards style and then there’s neutral colored prom dresses. You can step it up a little, hon.
Beth Behrs in Carolina Herrera
Is it us or does it not look like she’s in the middle of getting dressed and hasn’t put her top on yet? Beautiful skirt, though.
We really should hate this, but we feel like Divine is looking down from heaven and nodding with approval.
But okay. It’s not good. We can admit that.
Sophie Okonedo in Sophie Theallet
Pretty, but the sheer part at the waist is shaped a little oddly.
This would’ve been fine – if a little shiny – with a white shirt. As it is, it’s kind of awful.
Patricia Clarkson in Dolce&Gabbana
Always hits her mark. She’s a pro.
The dress, however, is as basic as it gets.
Courtney Reed in Carmen Marc Valvo
Pretty, but it feels a little overblown to us.
Vera Farmiga in Stella McCartney
LOVE this. You WERQ that “Kiss of the Spider Woman” realness, Vera.
Emmy Rossum in Ralph Lauren Collection
It was a very satiny, somewhat ironically “Old Hollywood” kind of night, no? All the kudos in the world to her for managing to remain largely unwrinkled. We’re so-so on the skirt, but we love the bodice. The shoes are enh.
