IN or OUT: Shailene Woodley in Balmain at the 2014 MTV Movie Awards

We’re torn. On the one hand, we can’t fault her for not putting effort in or not taking an active role in her styling choices. On the other hand, she’s wearing this:

PinWe want to applaud this, but the best we can do is applaud the effort. The outcome is pretty dicey. There’s no way any mere mortal could make a knotted leather top work for them. Not a snowball’s chance in hell. The fact that it’s not totally disastrous is a testament to what this girl could pull off, if she flexed her style muscles a little more often. She can wear tricky stuff. She just can’t pull off this top. We thought the skirt was working for her, but it does kind of look like a cheerleader skirt on her proportions. Then there’s the baby spew (to quote Edina Monsoon) color, which is only going to look good on roughly one out of a hundred million girls (estimated).

Still, the whole look has some style and attitude to it. It took some thinking and boldness to step out in this. We don’t want to discourage the poor dear. Be gentle, kittens.

Or who knows? Maybe you all want to defend this. Go for it.

In other witchy, judgmental news, the kittens decided that Kristen Wiig’s ULTRA-tricky dress wasn’t working and voted it OUT.
