Let’s see if you can figure out exactly where Wicked: For Good star Cynthia Erivo’s gown choice for the Governors Awards went wrong for us. Put your judging glasses on and really peer at this thing so you can find that one elusive element most likely to cause T Lo eyelid twitches.

Sigh. We’re sighing right now for real; not just typing “sigh” like a couple of posers, we swear. Before we got to that horrible bottom half, we were really digging the eye-catching textile and the way the design straddled the line between dress and coat. She does really well with a lot of volume, so we don’t mind how bulky the top half is on her. If we weren’t so distracted by that shredded skirt, we might have found the straps kind of annoying, but we figure the garment, which looks to be quite heavy, needs the support. From a wearer’s perspective, we can understand the appeal of that skirt because it allows them more freedom of movement and gives them the option of showing off the leg, but it’s just a deeply awkward design element that ruins the garment.
