Taylor Schilling in Roland Mouret at SiriusXM Studios

Posted on August 01, 2014

Why, Miss Tay! What a cute, sassy dress! But you need to lose the shoes. No, really. Don’t ever. Never again.

The blocking is a wee bit tough to pull off, but you’re working it, girl. And the colors look great. Loving the hair and makeup too. This is close to a personal best, which is kind of ironic, since it’s a radio appearance. We’d say the dress is a bit too tight, though. And we’re not joking about the shoes. Girl simply cannot wear a naked shoe without a raging case of monkeytoes.

The bubblegum pink color makes for an odd bodice. I feel as though I’m looking at a mold of her torso.

    • JauntyJohn

Cute, but also… “Wonder Girl goes clubbing.”

    • Clash D

Good lord, the photography for that Pre-Fall collection is terrible. The outfit hardly stands out.

      • kimmeister

I always pose in my faux fur in front of my dirty stove, don’t you?

        • SugarSnap108

I thought she was supposed to be a DJ at first glance. Then I realized: Burners, not turntables.

          • Jacob Bowen

Oh god, I looked a few times and STILL thought she was DJing!

          • FrigidDiva

Thank you! Glad I’m not the only one that thought that.

    • MilaXX

She also wore the dress on The View. In person it was weird because the orange strip made it look like her stomach was exposed for a second. Dem shoes though…. gurl!

      • kimmeister

I had the same reaction to the mustard triangle. The dress would be so much cuter without it.

        • cocohall

Me too! When she walked out I was momentarily horrified that she was flashing a big triangle of belly – but then realized it was just an odd placement of color blocking. Fit was amazing though.

    • sugarkane105

      WANT. THAT. DRESS. right meow.

    • Janet B

I am in awe of anyone who can wear those shoes with out monkeytoes.

    • hughman

Something about the white belt makes it very leotardy looking to me. Like she’s advertising a Jazzercise Commercial on late night teevee. “I lost 80 pounds with Roland Mouret!!”

Like Debbie Allen should be there as her fitness instructor, yelling at her like she yelled at Claire Huxtable, “You’ve got to sweat it! To get it! You’ve got to burn it! To earn it!”

    • ashtangajunkie

Best hair and makeup I’ve ever seen on her and I love the dress. But those SHOES! Ouch, girlie.

      • sundaynightaddict

Agreed. I usually hate a naked looking lip like that, but the eyes are totally selling that makeup job, and her hair looks fab.

      • angela rose

she needs to hire ASAP whatever wonder-kind hit her face with that paint. She looks amazing!

      • http://twitter.com/janedonuts Jane Donuts

It’s the eyeliner! So well done!

    • Jeremy Thomas Porta

This is giving me serious Katy Perry vibes.

      • angela rose

it’s that stupid staples campaign, yes? Katy looking all ‘what am I doing as a cardboard cutout at staples’ while wearing a version of this dress.

    • Shalhevet

Awesome dress. Something very pop art/ comic book about it. I don’t even mind the asymmetry at the neckline, which usually bothers me. It’s just playful enough.

    • mommyca

Speaking about Roland Mouret I’m excited about the RM cheaper versions that will be coming to Banana Republic in a few weeks… they look really nice and definitely affordable…

    • Glam Dixie

Her face looks a couple of shades darker than the rest of her and what the heck is that dress made out of? Looks really thick and girl needs a bra. I will forever see monkeytoes when I see sandals now. Thanks.

    • rumcg66

She needs a better bra. I really like the dress though.

      • Gatto Nero

Doesn’t look like she’s wearing one to me.

    • mjude

      LMFAO at the shoes!

    • lunchcoma

There’s a support garment problem here. The colors are great, though.

    • http://fibonaccisequins.storenvy.com/ Danielle

Personal Best from the neck up.

    • Gatto Nero

Hate those damn Nudist sandals. And these are too big for her.

    • jilly_d

      Amazing hair and makeup. Amaaaaazing.

    • Judy_J

The bodice of that dress fits like a second skin, doesn’t it? I love the color blocking. But those shoes? No to the nth degree.

    • PinkyK

      I want that dress!

    • Colin

katy perry! katy perry! katy perry!

    • Izzy_Gremlin

I agree with the “odd color choices” for the blocking, but I’m really liking the cut of the dress. And I too look forward to the day that “nudist sandals” are relegated to the wood-chipper of fashion history (my monkey-toes will rejoice on that day, as well).
For some reason I can’t put my finger on, though, she’s hitting all the right buttons in the hair and makeup category here.

    • Trickytrisha

Meh, the boobage spoils it. The shoes made me giggle. I don’t think that’s the response she was going for.

    • frannyprof

Wow! she looks great. And happy. Lose the shoes and this woud be almost perfect.

    • marlie

From the ankles up, this look is almost perfect. LOVE the dress (even if it’s a teensy bit too tight), and her hair and makeup are great. The only thing that’s wrong are the shoes.

    • SophieB210

Definitely a personal best on hair and makeup. Who would have guessed that the total 80s palette was her wheelhouse?

    • Sophie

I actually prefer the colours on the model, but I’d have been disappointed if she had worn them, since they are much darker. Are the shoes too big to prevent the monkey toes to grip the edge of the sole?

    • demidaemon

      Those shoes are demonspawn.

The dress is super cute on her.

That “Color Blocking ” is Sooooo last year!

    • https://plus.google.com/+FrankLithiumz/posts Frank Lithium

Perfect make-up and hair, bangin’ bod, striking and form-fitting dress… why must you let your stylist(s) troll you with the sadistic sandals?
