Rihanna in Helmut Lang in New York City

Posted on August 19, 2014

Major celebs all seem to have crawled into their hidey-holes for a few days of pre-Emmys/pre-VMAs hibernation, leaving bitchy celebrity fashion bloggers such as we with nothing to discuss. How tragic.

But this is why we love Ri. Ri knows when to give the bitches a little something. And she also knows there’s no point in going crazy or putting too much effort in. The celebrity style landscape is so barren in late August that there’s no way she’s gonna risk a crotch rash or a snapped ankle just to parade around in some insane getup for the paps. Save that shit for the month before the Oscars, when every A-lister alive is fighting for the dubious honor of a mention in Us magazine. All she has to do this week is plop on her Cher wig and a cute pair of shoes to get the job done.

Not that the dress is without its particular subset of charms. It’s certainly right up her alley. We don’t know anyone who can work pseudo-’80s fashion as well as she does right now.

Anyway, thank you, Ri; for giving us something to talk about while making it look (as per usual) that you give no fucks about anything we have to say. Attadiva.
