Oh, BRAVA, missy.

Now, we’ll grant you that this isn’t the most exciting or fashion-forward of looks. In fact, we’re pretty sure if, say, Allison Williams came out wearing this, we’d throw up our hands in faux-annoyance and tsk very strongly to show our disapproval. And it should be noted that we tend to praise Lea more when she’s a little more covered up than normal. But the fact of the matter is, she rarely looks this polished, grown up, and sure of herself. We’re not opposed to her wearing the short and plunging dresses if she’s feeling it, but we’d love to see her get in touch with her inner Audrey Hepburn more often. It suits her incredibly well.

It’s nice to see her avoiding vamping it up. She’s the quirky girl, she can’t really sell these sexbomb looks.

I think she looks very nice here, even though her boobs look like they were drawn on by drag queens.

      • sienna elm

Yes, the girls look strange…they seem too high for the dress.

      • evave2

I agree about the setting of the bodice but altogether she looks very nice (I guess I am repeating you, sorry, but nice is what it is).

      • kimmeister

Or drawn on by the people who do those person-in-a-swimsuit T shirts.

      • Moocows

I dont think she looks great in the classy outfits either, she always seems exude tacky no matter what. Id be puzzled if i were her stylist.

      • Man Dala

I agree, the boobs are plain wrong.

    • Danielle

      YAAAASSSSS dot gif

    • Mothra

I like it but the fabric looks so heavy, like I would not be surprised to find that it is made of velvet. Still not a fan of tattoos on feet though.

    • imperfectlaura

I’d like to see a more exciting shoe or jewelry…something with a little spunk to it. That, to me, would be the ultimate look for her…sophisticated and classy with a touch of spunk.

      • smayper

sophisticated and classy with a touch of spunk is a look to which I aspire myself!

        • Sophie

Me too! I rarely succeed and tend to land on boring, though. But I’m always in favour of quirky/exciting jewellery. And she must have a great choice of it, what with being a popular actress.

          • smayper

One of the things I’ve always admired about Michelle Obama is that she often achieves this — and she’s just my age, too — out there proving that you don’t have to be in your twenties to be spunky. I think she has fun with jewelry and belts.

            • Sophie

She has great taste in clothes, too, so she doesn’t always need jewellery to lift up the already pretty and interesting colours or motifs on her clothes. With her budget, she can afford to have fun with clothes and accessories. Though I’m afraid most of what I see of her wardrobe is from this website, so I probably missed out on a lot.
Most of the people in their twenties I see wear rather unexciting jewellerey, in that everyone their age wears the same. Older people often have had more time to find those interesting pieces of jewellery and a bit more daring to wear them.

      • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

You can tell I have been living in England too long – the phrase “a touch of spunk” makes me giggle. But yes, a bit of jewellery, maybe a slightly spiky ear cuff or something.

        • bitchybitchybitchy

“Touch of Spunk” -it could be a new sitcom about an impossibly twee manic pixie girl.

          • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

… who gives a lot of blowjobs (spunk means… something else in England!)

            • bitchybitchybitchy

I’m just very, very grateful that my coffee is in the other room when I read this!

      • alyce1213

        Lou Grant: “I hate spunk.”

    • oldscrumby

I don’t know why but she always makes me think of her character on Glee when she floozies it up. This is a welcome change.

      • RussellH88

Probably because (like Rachel Berry) it makes her seem desperate for attention.

    • http://thejoyfulfox.blogspot.com/ Laura

I don’t have a single “of course” to utter. It’s simple, but she looks lovely!

    • colleenjanel

It needs a little bling, and those shoes look painful. But I’ll still give her a “WELL DONE!” Positive reinforcement, and all…

    • teensmom99

I get into these fantasies about the boyfriends who make them dress badly. Is it tacky for me to believe that Corey Monteith liked her in her “of course” look and now she’s expiring new looks?

    • MilaXX

It’s cute because it lacks the air of desperation she so often gives off when she’s trying so hard to be vampy & sexy.

      • eowyn_of_rohan

“Desperation” — a new fragrance by Lea Michele.

    • Judy_S

I don’t see this as inner Audrey Hepburn but rather inner Liz Taylor-in-her-prime. As if she is beautiful enough to know you will keep looking at her face while taking in the landscape below it. She looks just luscious.

      • numenah

        Or Sophia Loren.

    • gayle

It is a major improvement over her usual look so I give her credit for that. At the same time it is summer and she is at a children’s festival…there must have been an equally pretty and flattering dress in color that doesn’t seem so heavy she could have chosen.

      • marlie

        Baby steps…

    • Anna

Needs a necklace, but more of this please, Miss Lady.

    • Grumpy Girl

For her this is such an improvement. BUT, that hair still looks amazingly dried and unhappy. And I want to shorten/reshape her fingernails a bit to look less artificial. Still so much better than usual. It also looks her age.

      • kimmeister

They aren’t shaped like talons, and there’s no Pinterest manicure, so I’m ok with them as is!

    • nannypoo

I never thought I would be commenting that Lea Michele’s dress is too long. Another sign of the apocalypse.

      • SugarSnap108

I know. I can’t believe I want her to shorten her hem. I hear the sounds of the Four Horsemen approaching.

    • Noah

Major improvement. Could use some better support.

      • kimmeister

Her breasts are already right next to her armpits; any higher and they would form a new chin.

    • Dino Bonačić

The hair gives it a perfect touch! LOVE!!

    • sienna elm

      Serving Charlotte York Goldenblatt realness.

      • Tee

This so channeling Mrs. Goldenblatt instead of Ms. Hepburn.

    • Kent Roby

This is a great silhouette for her.

    • MoHub

I’d like it better had she eschewed the hint of underboob.

    • mjude

I like it, she looks really sweet

    • Jenna621

That is way too much toe cleavage for anyone. But the dress is cute.

      • kimmeister

Cleavage at the toe to balance her cleavage up top?

      • scoobynacks

Toe cleavage always bothers me. When I’m trying on shoes it drives people crazy because I just can’t handle shoes that show a lot of it. To me it reads ‘these shoes don’t fit.’

    • Mary Elizabeth Poytinger Baume

      eye makeup looks janky.

    • BuffaloBarbara

I wouldn’t mind seeing quite a few people get in touch with their inner Audrey. Those styles are often deeply flattering.

I like this one quite a bit, but there’s something just a little wonky with the stitching on the bust. You can’t see it from the front, but from the side, it seems to distort her shape a little.

      • FibonacciSequins

That stitching you see is the neckline/shoulder strap piece. It looks a little strange from the side because the bodice is a bit tight on her, so she’s spilling out where she can – at the front.

        • BuffaloBarbara

Ah, you’re right, I can that.

Again, with the not fitting quite right on the loaners. Hmm.

    • Sarah

That dress has a beautiful cut. I like it, but I’m thinking her headsuit isn’t living up to it – or even to her normal standards. IDK why, but hair/makeup are not doing it.

    • Jessica Freeman

I will not complain about her painful looking shoes since, for once, I’m not rolling my eyes out of my head at her dress.

    • FibonacciSequins

I’ve never seen her look better.

    • jtabz

      Personal best.

    • PinkyK

      She looks classy!

    • decormaven

Going to praise this to high heavens because she’s not doing her Of. Course. schtick.

    • Jacqueline Wessel

This silhouette is great on her.

    • Lisalady161

How lovely and chic she looks. And the Uncles usually make my eyes twitch when they say this, but this look could really use a lovely, sparkly little belt to punch it up. Attagirl, Lea.

    • Jennifer Bober

Oh my goodness, she actually looks classy here. Yes, it could have used a little something, but overall, hallelujah on this one.

    • James

I wish that was hemmed, needs to be shorter and it’d be even better. Good look on her. What is she promoting?

    • marlie

I think she looks great. This look could benefit from one piece of statement jewelry, but really, that’s a minor complaint. She’s still showing off a little cleavage, but the dress isn’t also skintight and so short that she’s about to show off the good china. Her makeup is toned down a bit, and she’s not doing that vampy smile thing that she does. Attagirl.

    • Judy_J

I thought Audrey Hepburn when I saw this as well. I hope Lea stays in touch with her inner Audrey.

    • MK03

      SWEETIE YAAAASSSSSS

    • Denise Rambo

Those shoes are horrible (what I can see of them). And what is that squiggly tattoo-like thing that’s kind of near her shoulder?

      • Lilithcat

Looking at the penultimate image, I think it consists of two musical notes.

      • Alloy Jane

She has an eighth note and a quarter note shittily tattooed on her shoulder. There’s no context for them and she isn’t worth googling, so I’m not sure if it signifies any particular piece of music.

    • Janet B

      More of this please.

    • Shawn EH

She looks so Parisian and chic! Love that dress, and black does wonders for her.

    • Lilithcat

The shoes really bother me. Her toes are cut in half. It not only looks silly, it looks as though the front of the shoe is going to fall off her feet.

    • webslice33

usually dislike her, but i love her in this outfit

    • msdamselfly

      Inner Penelope Cruz

    • SugarSnap108

What a big step forward! Incredibly, I want her to shorten the hem a bit. And I desperately want some jewelry and snazzier shoes. But the brava is definitely in order.

    • http://www.bertkeeter.com Bert Keeter

Dress perfect… but I feel the shoes add a ” frumpy” quality she may not have been looking to achieve?

    • vitaminC

This would be even more delightful in a summery color or pattern, but yes. You don’t look like a call girl. Way to go.

      • vitaminC

And this dress has an Ann-Margret in Bye Bye Birdie silhouette, IMO.

    • snarkykitten

Not a fan of that neckline. Also her boobs look like pancakes. But she looks good otherwise…

    • EEKstl

Best I’ve seen her look on the RC. I was tired of routinely typing “Of course!” after any LM posting.

    • Gatto Nero

Great dress. She could have gone for a little more pizzazz in the shoes and jewelry. And she needs a good colorist to fix that hair. Otherwise, a massive improvement.

    • suzq

Total perfection. It may seem “boring” but it totally reads “classic.”

    • SewingSiren

This ought to be her go to look.

    • spirit52

      i.hate. this. woman.

    • Yoshio

This has an Eva Mendes vibe (good thing, IMO) though she would likely have worn it in a beautiful floral. Love the shape of this dress on Lea, it gives her figure some nice waist definition.

    • alyce1213

Very nice, a great improvement, but I’ll pick a nit that her boobies are pushed up too high — they don’t need to pop out of the dress, they can relax a little.

    • formerlyAnon

Damn, she looks GOOD. Especially waist up. Whoever put this together for her should be put on permanent payroll.

I even had brainspace to notice and to like her make up.

    • Ruby_Red

Add a necklace, and I’d say perfect.

    • BLauDGaspode

Lovely, just wish she had a necklace on to really take it up a notch.

    • Joanna

The over-the-shoulder pose shows a young woman who is mature and should be taken seriously as an actress. She needs to put that picture up on her inspiration board.

    • sk8tfan

She has a slightly retro look to her that really does well in styles like this. She should play to that more often. Best she ever looked was in those Candy’s ads. And she should wear more striking jewelry; she has strong features that can carry it.

    • demidaemon

These pictures are causing me to question whether this is the real Lea Michele or not, which probably means it is an overall success.

    • susu

Wow, this just might be the best (and, ironically, the sexiest) I’ve ever seen her look. The cut of the dress is super-flattering; I don’t even find it boring or demure… she looks like an Italian bombshell out of some classic film.

    • http://weirdinedgewise.blogspot.com ONEWEIRDWORD

      Loverly!

    • KT

Fehhhh. Yes, she’s a little more covered up and less desperate-looking than normal, which does require a pat on the back. But objectively, this is not that great. It’s a cute but totally basic black dress. To add, the neckline is very unflattering, the shoes are boring, and there is practically no accessorizing at all. She didn’t fuck this up, but she also didn’t take the very easy steps towards making it a little more interesting and fabulous. At least she’s heading in the right direction, though.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Good to see Lea recognizing that sometimes a LBD can be the right look. It isn’t earthshaking, but refreshing after some of her fashion miscues.

      • Alloy Jane

I’m just glad she didn’t take the “L” in “LBD” as literally as one would expect her to.

        • bitchybitchybitchy

Yes-in that case it would have been a MBD, for micro black dress.

    • naarden

      I agree

    • understateddiva

You two read my mind – the second I saw this I thought Allison Williams – the two of them should switch wardrobes. Actually maybe not, a lot of Lea’s outfits shouldn’t see the light of day.

    • unbornfawn

Best I’ve seen her in a long time. Beautiful.

    • alliekat9090

She must be lost without a side slit to pull back so she can expose her legs whilst maniacally grinning and preening . She actually looks like a normal grown up woman.

    • Skippymom1

I laughed at the “inner Audrey Hepburn”. Lea wishes. Ms. Hepurn’s look was more than just clothing. But I will agree Lea does look pretty.

    • JynxTheCat

well aren’t we a cool breeze?!

    • ktr33

I’m so proud [sob]. I thought we’d be sending her off to Juvie.

    • Judih1

Not liking the make up. But hair and dress (even though her boobs look weird) are good
