Judy Greer on the “Late Show with David Letterman”

Posted on July 30, 2014

We’re thrilled that Judy has a new show to poledance for. She’s funny and stylish and we’re hoping the boost in her career means we won’t have to suffer through any more of those “framily” commercials she’s doing for… honestly, we don’t even know. A mobile network? Whatever. The one with the talking hamster. We can’t take it anymore.

Let’s judge her clothes.

Well, this all seems to be in order. We have not one criticism, even if the shoes and bag are matchy. The dress is chic and eye-catching and she’s having a Very Good Hair Moment.

What’s the thinking on the eyeliner, darlings? Too much?

Eyeliner is a little heavy, but it works for her. Can’t really find much at fault here, but I will say that I am kinda ready for the naked shoe trend to die.

      • evave2

Is she going to be on camera? If yes, ok; if no, WAY too much.

      • misstressofsylar

I bought something similar and let me tell ya, those things are hard to walk in. And I live in heels!

      • heartbot

She’s going on the Late Show. For going on a TV show that pretends to happen at night, the eyeliner is fine.

    • Thomas

The eyeliner doesn’t bother me because I think it goes with the sharp contrast in the dress.

    • Mothra

She looks good, like she’s on her way to Taco Night!

      • RescueMe23

        Yes!! Tacos!!

    • Nicole

Whatever, this woman can do no wrong in my eyes. As long as she’s poledancing for something, I’m happy. She needs to be in more things. As does Anna Faris!

      • @Biting Panda

        Are you watching Mom?

        • Nicole

I am… and I hate to say it, but I just wasn’t in love. Which is insane because she and Allison Janney are comedic gold, but the script is just, “Eh.” It definitely has its moments (mostly because of the two fab leading ladies). I watched the first season hoping to keep them on for a second. I think I actually missed the last few episodes, so I hope they found their legs!

          • FibonacciSequins

I watch it for the cast. So superior to the writing. I too am hoping it gets better next season.

          • @Biting Panda

Exactly. I keep hoping it will live up to it’s potential.

            • http://fibonaccisequins.storenvy.com/ Danielle

My irrational love for Allison Janney keeps me coming back, forever hoping the writing will improve.

          • MichelleRafter

Cannot take that show, which is why I didn’t know she was on it til I read this.

          • demidaemon

Unfortunately, this is a common theme in sitcoms lately. I don’t know what happened, but almost all great sitcom writing has become a lost art.

            • Nicole

Seriously! I was wondering if they were lame the whole time and I was just naive, but my husband and I re-watched Friends and That’s 70’s Show recently and were DYING. And I love the premise of the show too – I hope they get a better staff next season.

            • demidaemon

Definitely. I love rewatching the late 80s/ early 90s sitcoms like The Golden Girls and Roseanne, personally.

            • Nicole

How could I forget Golden Girls??? And my hubby just introduced me to Roseanne a few years ago – I missed out on that one!

            • demidaemon

Every episode of Golden Girls is great, but I do know that the last season of Roseanne has some critiques. However, everything up to that point is great.

      • Rhonda Shore

She really is funny! I saw her recently doing drama on a House episode and she was good in that too. She looks good here, no fault finding here.

    • Janet B

Those shoes. On one hand, I like them more than almost any platform shoe – on the other hand, they look so useless for more than standing still.

      • Fanny_Trollope

You are not kidding. Especially in NYC with all the sidewalk crud.

        • Heather

          Ew. This!

    • hughman

True Confession : I kind of love those “Framily” commercials because they are just so fucking weird and out there and make no logical sense. I don’t remember her being in one but now I’ll look!

      • @Biting Panda

        It’s GORdon.

        • hughman

Him I remember. And I love all the dancing girl scouts or whatever they are.

        • Shawn EH

          “He’s MY dad!”

        • Kent Roby

          I think it’s gorDON.

      • RunAmuck

        I like them too!

      • GillianHolroyd

        Tacos

        • Shawn EH

          “Ooh, TACOS!”

      • bitchybitchybitchy

There’s something about the hamster that cracks me up-probably because many years ago Mr. B3 and I had hamsters-lovable balls of fur, unfortunately for us they just don’t live very long.

        And yes, It’s GOR-don….

      • altalinda

If I understand the plot correctly, that hamster is her baby daddy, which kind of creeps me out.

    • @Biting Panda

      LUV HUH!!

And I’m pro eyeliner, it’s my go to vamp, as I don’t do bold lips.

    • http://www.dogsdotcom.blogspot.com/ Plink

      She looks great!

    • Wink

      Love it all! Yes!

    • Kbear

LOVE HER. She looks beautiful, but I find the print of the dress around the crotch area to be a bit “disturbing”. Or I just have way too much imagination.

      • StillGary

I thought the pelvic spoon was a little weird but it’s a minor quibble!

      • myandyleigh

I can’t actually make out what’s going on in the print, which I find disturbing in and of itself. Now that I know others are also disturbed by the crotch area I’m sort of frightened by it all. People, don’t wear scary clothes. Think of the children!

        • Badriya Al-Badi’a

I’m glad it’s not just my eyes that can’t make any sense of that print. It’s baffling.

      • Kent Roby

I posted a comment (buried way down below) that I see a distorted playbill of Les Miz in the bodice.

    • FibonacciSequins

      She’s perfection here.

I can’t believe she’s doing those commercials. Talk about under-utilizing talent!

      • @Biting Panda

        coughchaCHINGcough ; )

        Baby’s gotta eat.

        • FibonacciSequins

Oh, I get why she’s doing them. I just can’t believe she’s not being offered more challenging and interesting work!

          • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

            She’s always fun on Archer.

    • Julie Chase

I love everything about this. The hair is to die for.

    • Anna

Judy wins today, she looks fantastic. And I’m getting a bit of Ann Margret from the hair and the eyeliner, love it.

    • JMEL

Love the outfit and and eyeliner. Unfortunately, I can’t imagine the poledance for this show will last very long. We tried one episode. It was poorly written, plot didn’t really make sense and I felt dirty when it was over.

      • http://redheadedwolf.wordpress.com/ Laura Renee

        What show is this?

        • http://fibonaccisequins.storenvy.com/ Danielle

I think “Married” with the guy from Ben + Kate.

          • MilaXX

UGH! That guy is chalk on a blackboard for me. He is so unfunny.

            • Shawn EH

He’s a sad sack, it’s sort of this schtick. They had a kind of chemistry in the first 2 episodes.

            • gefeylich

Oh, THANK YOU. I utterly despise him (and his awful teeth). He singlehandedly deep-sixed Ben and Kate (which was otherwise a cute show),thus forcing Dakota Johnson to do that terrible Twilight S&M movie. Now I think he’s going to do the same to Judy and she’ll have to do even more commercials with the hamster and GorDON.

Pity, because she looks so beautifully put-together here. She’s really getting better looking as she ages, isn’t she (thus defying the Hollywood syllogism)? I just wish she was offered better work.

      • amanda siegelson

i found the first episode very dull – but i’ve read that the show ticks upwards from there – so i’m willing to give it a couple more episodes.

    • http://fibonaccisequins.storenvy.com/ Danielle

Living for that hair flounce. Go ahead, Judy!

    • Jessica O’Connell

Agreed! I LOVE Judy Greer and HATE that she’s been reduced to those terrible commercials. Love the look. I think that the eye liner is a little heavy, but not so much so that it really throws anything off.

    • MartyBellerMask

She’s just so fabulous I almost can’t even stand it.

    • AlisonHendryx

eyeliner is a little much for summer, day. but everything else is great, and I would like points (do we do points?) for being the first to say, back in May, that I was sick of the Stuart Weitzman Nudists. (a gold star? a pat on the head? someone give me validation, it’s been a rough week!)

      • Beardslee

I’ll give you validation! A sky high heel + a tiny strap across the toe is just not a good look, unless splayed toes, toes clinging for dear life, or toes dripping over the shoe is your idea of chic.

    • Lex

Love this whole look other than I agree with others that the makeup is a tad heavy for daytime, but it’s a minor quibble. Besides, we should all take a look as this may be the last time you see these, Michael. Love my Kitty!

    • Sobaika

She should take it easy on lining the lower lashline – it would open up her eyes a great deal.

    • Gatto Nero

Eyeliner is a bit much, but it’s for a TV appearance, so …
Hate the Nudist sandals (still, again), but everything else looks fine.

    • unbornfawn

I suppose it is a matter of taste. The eyeliner is too much for me. Above the eyes would have been enough. Under the eye goes too raccoon for me.

    • Citagaze

My name…is Vylette. Learn it. Live it. Love it.

    • rkdgal

She’s having a WAY better hair moment than Kitty ever did…”Take off your glasses. Oh… wait, wait. Let down your hair. No: glasses
on, hair back up. Let’s just get that hair right back up.” (She was so great on that show.)

    • TM

She looks great. I wish I could be her snarky single overly involved romcom bff.

    • World of Sass

Yes too much eyeliner, but maybe it’s for the TV camera? I would have liked to have seen a soft red lip. She has such a great pout.

    • MichelleRafter

It doesn’t matter. Judy Greer in her own TV series again! I loved her in Miss Guided, the short-lived show Ashton Kuchter’s production company did where she played a wacky but lovable high school guidance counselor.

      • Trish

I also loved that show. And she tells a really cute story about Ashton Kutcher in her book.

        • MichelleRafter

Didn’t know she wrote a book. Off to investigate.

      • Angela_the_Librarian

She also does a brilliant job of voicing Cheryl on Archer!

        • Freynika

          OUTLAW COUNTRY YEE HAW!!!
I will forever associate her with Kitty with the botched boob job on Arrested Development.

    • Mr. J.

      Summer in the city! Yes!

      (Am I showing my age?)

    • msdamselfly

Perfect outfit. She’s got beautiful eyes yet the eyeliner is hiding that fact

    • Michelle Gennari

I think she looks great. Great dress! I love her in everything she does (especially Arrested Development!) and I’m happy she has something new.

    • MilaXX

I love everything here. Yes the eyeliner is a bit heavy, but I think it works with the outfit.

    • Sam Smith

I like the eyeliner, but I like SJP’s eyeliner too. I guess I have something for pale ladies/pale eyes in heavy eyeliner, something I always wanted for myself but have rarely ever succeeded at.

    • Ashley Ellen Wilson

yes, too much. i’m not judging the clothes, i’m judging her makeup, but i’ve been on an Archer binge so at the moment i’m feeling gracious

    • ChiKat67

I like the eyeliner because she went so minimal with the rest of her makeup and is having a great hair day so nice to have some punch.

    • Kitten Mittons

I want this dress so badly. Is that a belt? Don’t care. Want this look, head to toe.

    • NMMagpie

      TACOS!!

      She looks great. :)

    • mjude

      love the look!

    • GillianHolroyd

That is not a belt. The bodice and the skirt are joined together with… fagoting.

      • kimmeister

Wow, are totally right! Good eye. The fagoting is interesting, but I think I would have liked it better with a belt.

    • merciblahblah

She looks as cute as a bug in a rug. Love the dress, love the shoes, and that hurr is GLO-RI-OUS. Hallelujah and amen.

    • Alyssa

This is perfection IMO. The dress is amazing, loving the color from the accessories. Her hair looks superb, and she can rock the eyeliner. Way to go Judy!

    • imspinningaround

SNAPS AND NECK ROLLS TO YOU JUDY GREER. The street is your catwalk!!

    • in a pickle

The eye makeup is too harsh- she’d look better with something softer.

    • HeyMrPhipps

The eyeliner is perfect because the dress is so graphic. And anyone who doesn’t like it can “say goodbye to these!” *flashes*

    • Lilithcat

Eyeliner is a bit heavy for my taste.

Who designed that dress? Do we know?

    • Anapestic

Is it just me, or are some of her toes recoiling in horror because they don’t fit on the shoes and are ever so close to kissing the pavement?

But, really, she looks pretty great overall. I just wouldn’t want to be barefoot on a city street.

      • Shawn EH

Aren’t those those “nude” shoes that do that to everyone?

    • KinoEye

That hair is perfection. I almost can’t get past it to look at anything else. The styling is aces and that color is HER color. Beautiful.

    • Shawn EH

Matchy is okay with black, white and red all over. The eyeliner is because I’m convinced she’s still a little teenage punkrocker at heart. WERQ that new show, Judy (which is kind of good, I guess?) !!

    • crash1212

Best head I’ve seen all day. Love the eyeliner. I do believe she’s one of the very few that can pull off those annoying shoes by looking sexy and chic in them rather than “hanging on for dear life”. Love the dress. A new show obviously agrees with her.

    • Zeee

      Perfect.

    • Ashleigh

      that talking hamster!! Ah!

    • jilly_d

Fabulous. And I think the eyeliner is working.

    • teensmom99

JUDY!!! I am so happy to see her move from bff to center stage and this is the perfect way to do it.

    • alyce1213

She looks fabulous. I don’t even mind the naked sandals .

    • marlie

I love this. I love every single thing about this outfit. Attagirl, Judy.

Those framily commercials with the hamster make me stabby.

    • BLauDGaspode

Way. To. Go. This is all fantastic!

    • Kent Roby

I’m seeing a distorted Playbill image of Les Miz in the bodice, but I like her look (in spite of my mentally-troubled state).

    • SophieCollier

The eyeliner is a little creepy doll-ish, but not a dealbreaker. She looks good!

    • Izzy_Gremlin

Not a big fan of the shoes, but I NEED a Rorschach dress. It is what my Taco Tuesdays have been missing all this time, and I never realized it. I think the eyeliner works, especially for late-night and television.

      • Fordzo a.k.a. Fancy Mukluks

I see a lion in a white tuxedo.

    • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

Eyeliner is fine—she’s got TV makeup, after all. She looks wonderful and breezy and very, very chic. Brava!

    • Gloriana Reginata

I’m gonna be contrary. I don’t like the way the dress rides over her hips: it looks like it’s pulling, although she’s obviously a slender woman. And I don’t like the layer of pale makeup on her face, which seems at odds with the casual breeziness of the shoes and the hair. Shoes and hair win: scrub your face, lady.

    • ljh

I adore her in anything– she is the only thing going for those massively irritating cellular (?) commercials. Looking at her filmography, I find a title that I somehow missed, a “video short” entitled, “Republicans, Get in My Vagina.” Now I love her even more.

    • siriuslover

The eyeliner does seem a bit much, but I can’t fault it. It makes her eyes just “pop!” in a good way. Especially juxtaposed to her “don’t hate me ’cause I’m beautiful” hair. She looks great.

    • Fordzo a.k.a. Fancy Mukluks

I took her book on vacation with me and if I didn’t already love her to bits, it would have made me fall head over heels for her. It was a perfect beach read.

    • flamingoNW

It all works. Wish I could wear it…

    • LMGordon

The makeup is heavy because she’s going in to do Letterman.

    • Columbinia

What is that talking hamster going free range in that clear ball? I don’t understand these ads.

And, yes, the Cleopatra eyeliner is too much. Great dress, though.

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

I think she is working the eyeliner. Needed some drama for the chic, but relatively simple, dress. Love it.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Love-her look and her. I read one of the essays in her new book recently-hysterical description of attending the Oscars as part of The Descendants group, and what happened when someone stepped on the hem of her dress. She’s a keeper.

    • KT

She looks great!! I love her and I’m happy to see her owning the shit out of this look. Gorgeous hair and makeup, digging the dress, and though I’m also not loving the matchy matchy accessories, that’s a minor quibble. Work it, girl.

    • boweryboy

In this case, I don’t mind the matchy shoes and purse. The print of the dress o

    • NinjaCate

      She’s having a Beyoncé-wind-machine hair moment. I approve.

    • GeoDiva

One of her personal best. Don’t mind the eyeliner since it for a television appearance. By the way, it Catherine Zeta-Jones can do T-Mobile, I have no problem with Judy doing Sprint.

    • quiltrx

Gorgeous dress and gorgeous lady! Love her. Hair looks like it was given its own very subtle wind machine. The liner is a little heavy here, but I bet it looked fine under the studio lights.

    • Sophie

I like the eyeliner from afar, but not in the close-up. Love the dress.

    • Monabel

      Is that a capybara? (sp?)

    • ankali

Eyeliner just right. She looks amazing here.

    • Ray

Her eyeliner fits the whole black/white/red theme.

    • Renaissance_Man_ATL

Lovely, seasonally appropriate, and quite stylish. Great job!

    • Innuendo

I like the print on the dress a lot. It’s really eye-catching and interesting. Whole thing looks good to me, even though I usually find those sort of minimalist sandal pumps unwearable.

    • EEKstl

THAT is the pop of color that I miss so much of the time. Perfection. (IMHO the eyeliner is just fine; she’s about to go on TV so it’s really Theatre Makeup Light).

    • Trishington

Agree on the eyeliner but she is otherwise perfectly lovely. I love her – she’s so hilarious!

    • ktr33

I’m fine with the eyeliner. She’s going on TV, not doing the “just went to the gym” walk.

    • roche

      I think she’s killin’ it.

    • Clash D

Too much? Hell no. This is a WERQ.

    • heartbot

My inner 13 year old is screaming, “There’s no such thing as too much eyeliner!”
