And that word is WERQ, as in, “You WERQ that new hair do and gorgeous gown, girl,” because you are GLOWING. Loving the jewelry; loving the minaudière; loving it all. Absolutely the best look yet. Brava, darling. It’s not like you didn’t already know this, but you have definitely ARRIVED.

      Wow, she looks great.

It’s an interesting dress, because it seems both ethereal and structured at the same time.

      • Kayceed

That is such an astute comment – it makes me think of Christina Hendricks who likes the ethereal but needs the structure.

      • Mothra

It fits very well. This is what a good fit will do.

    • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

      Gorgeous. Just gorgeous.

      • Trent

STUNNING. She’s made a lot of appearances since the Time cover, and hasn’t made a misstep yet.

    • Shubham Ladha

      It’s Monique Lhuillier ^_^

      • Kimbolina

Is it really? I think it’s fantastic that big name fashion houses are lending her dresses.

        • KateShouldBeWorking

I suspect it’s custom because Laverne and dat ass aren’t sample size. I’m thrilled to see talent and grace paying off in couture frocks. Snaps up, girl!

        • Kent Roby

She is on the cover of Time; that’s major big-time!

        • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

I was wondering who let her have the jewellery – it’s lovely!

    • JP

      Love it, head to toe.

    • PlethoraofBooks

      J’adore!

    • MoHub

That is the way to deploy sheer fabric!

      • Rhonda Shore

and perfect deployment of a french manicure too…it’s in the details.

    • Heather

Stunning!!! That color is beautiful on her.

      • http://www.snoskred.org/ Snoskred

Blue is 100% her colour, and she should Kate Middleton it up and make that Blue her bitch. :)

    • Jennifer Bober

      Gorgeous. Just gorgeous.

    • KateShouldBeWorking

Not that she can’t shut it down in a bandage dress, but I’m excited to see her in a new silhouette.

    • marlie

Beautiful! This is a personal best! Great color, great accessories… Bravo!

    • LadyVimes

I LOVE that dress. And the clutch is to die for. You werq those dripping diamonds, Laverne.

    • kimmeister

She got the uncles to NOT hate blue lace, that is a coup!

My only quibble is that I wish her brows were just a bit darker.

    • MilaXX

Love this dress on her. Minor quibble: stark white French manicures are so 1997. She doesn’t need to go full Pinterest, but find a solid shade for the manicure.

      • Aurumgirl

I agree the French Manicure (just the simple pale pink with the simple white tip) is “dated” (dated as of the 80′s, actually) but I also think that it continues to be a favourite because it is a close-to-natural look that looks more polished than just bare fingernails. It can still be a nice option aside from a pretty single solid colour, as long as all that other foofarah isn’t added on. It’s done well here–a nice touch to highlight elegant hands in a subtle way.

        • MilaXX

perhaps with a more subtle, softer pink as opposed to the white out white.

      • weakforchic

it’s a classic. and flattering on most. just like the liitle black dress. I still find french manis lovely.

    • Mary Elizabeth Poytinger Baume

bow down bow down. everytime i see her she brings such joy to me. i know that her story and her journey has helped friends of mine who are in transition to have the outsides match the insides (as they say) and she is ramping up the fierceness to 11…

    • Danielle

      SNAPS OF MOTHERFUCKING RESPECT

    • Anna

Laverne Cox: On How to be Lovely.

My eyes needed some gorgeous with a side of fierce, thank you.

    • KinoEye

Owning it and looking flawless. It takes some serious skill to WERQ a dress with sheer fabric AND lace without it looking cheap. Go on with your bad self, lady, although I wish I saw more of you in the second season of OITNB.

      • Anna

As flawless as she looks in that dress, I think my favourite part about all this is the expression on her face. She knows she’s owning it, but it’s not smug (like other celebs). She’s got that way about her of someone who is happy, self-assured and is in a great place in their life and career. Respect.

    • http://twitter.com/janedonuts Jane Donuts

Just commenting to say that clutch is the tits. (As is she, really.)

    • LJCdoc

Beautiful. This makes me want to go all Laganja on her. “Yes, Mama, Werq, Okurrr?”

      • Tobey

        Hahahaha!!

      • Introspective

yaaaaaassssss to this comment. and of course to the lovely laverne!!! my gurrr!!!

    • Denise Alden

Wow. She looks so, so, SO pretty! Well done you.

    • Adriana

Her hair and makeup look noticeably improved. She looks amazing!

    • nomnom

Does anyone know who made the gown?

    • Kent Roby

This makes me so happy; we all knew that she didn’t have to wear tight/short/exposed looks to be pretty. Gorgeous!

    • emilyaGoGo

Most beautiful (and least annoying) use of the lace trend to-date. Gorgeous inside and out. Love her.

    • jilly_d

She looks radiant. Well played, Laverne.

    • Darva Sutra

      Perfection!

    • Sarah

She’s lovely, the dress is pretty, and I love her. That’s why it’s a shame I’ll have to rob her of those bracelets.

    • smh4748

I didn’t know what a “minaudière” was, but now I really want one. Preferably that one.

    • decormaven

Working it overtime. Beautiful execution, HTT.

    • imspinningaround

Lovely color, lovely silhouette, gorgeous bracelets. My only quibble is that the ruching at the hips and across the waist seems to start at an oddly stumpifying point. She’s a gorgeous glamazon and this dress makes her look kinda short.

    • Courtenay P

      well HELLO there.

    • gayle

So Pretty! This is my favorite of all her looks so far. I do kind of wish she would do something different with her hair though, it is the same styling every time.

    • Kristen

      Gorg. She looks wonderful!!

    • Susan Velazquez

She looks so goregous. I love this color on her. I def think she is suited for cool tones.

    • quiltrx

She looks pretty and elegant! The dress is really flattering to her shape.
Now I need schooling about something…can someone break down the difference in a minaudiere and a clutch? In my head the former was daintier and maybe more unusually-shaped than the latter. I would have called this a clutch. Educate me, fellow BKs!

      • BlairBear

According to a quick google search miniaudieres are also called box clutches and it refers to the fact that it is structured like a box where clutches don’t have that structure. Hope this helps

        • quiltrx

          Thanks!

      • MilaXX

they also tend to be sturdier than a clutch as in made out of metal or wood.

        • quiltrx

          That helps too, thanks!

    • Coleen

She is STUNNING. My breath, it is taken.

    • Maryanne525

She looks stunning from head to toe.

    • Noah

      Shutting it. The fuck. Down.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Now this is how you do lace so that it WERQ’s!

    • lunchcoma

I knew she could do va va voom glamour, but I really like that this is wispy and pretty and looks amazing. It’s a little different than some of the dresses she’s chosen in the past, and I appreciate that she’s not allowing herself to get stuck in a style rut.

    • Gatto Nero

Fabulous. And I’m loving her in the new season of OITNB.

    • KayEmWhy

Beautiful. Blue is clearly her color. Bows down to her.

    • Eclectic Mayhem

She’s “a shimmering, glowing star in the cinema firmament.”

      • LJCdoc

Today is Singing in the Rain quote day!

      • kerryev

        Literally shimmering. What incredible skin!

    • gsk241

Excuse me while I bow the fuck down. She is stunning.

    • beebee10

      YES!! Sophia you are outstanding!

    • SugarSnap108

This is blue lace and I love it. My mind is blown. She is gorgeous.

    • drae27

Thank you Laverne!!! That is true beauty….I can’t explain how happy I am looking at this picture.

    • Valdri8

I was afraid for a moment of having a big ass blowout with my uncles, based upon the lead-in. I just let out a giant cleansing breath. Few others could have pulled off that number.

    • greymain

      FAB-U-LOUS !!!!!

    • boweryboy

Easily the best she’s looked on the red carpet.

    • Judy_J

SJP needs to have a consultation with Laverne’s hair stylist. THIS is how it’s done.

    • Miss Atomic

Dear TLo, I feel that you frequently call ladies out with this particular hair style, calling it the Terrier hair or something of the sort? This kinda looks like Terrier hair to me, but you praise Miss Laverne for her hair here. I think you are biased!

PS – this color is lovely on her.

      • latina fey

no, it’s the cocker spaniel look and this isn’t it.

        • teensmom99

It also helps that Ms. Cox is not a teeny tiny woman with her hair overwhelming her 90 lb frame.

          • MilaXX

or covering the details of the dress.

    • Chaiaiai

Laverne, honey, I AM HERE FOR YOU.

    • Alyssa

      Drop dead gorgeous!

    • Tricia Rose

      Perfection!!!!

    • Mona_Visa

This is how you fit and serve a lady’s décolletage. It’s all right there, but it isn’t hanging out or spilling over or hanging to her knees. Praise.

    • Maya

      gorgeous! loooove that dress!

    • crash1212

      3 snaps, Z formation.

    • MissAmynae

      Stunning woman. Absolutely stunning.

    • kim bunchalastnames

well. i clicked the hotlink, and, together with this post, it actually, really brought tears to my eyes. brava indeed.

    • ashtangajunkie

      Divine!

    • queeniethebold

My adoration of her is endless. Not only is she gorgeous, but also she’s whip-smart and has the most wonderful velvety voice. Recently she was interviewed by Wendy Williams, who asked some really stupid questions in really stupid ways, and Laverne handled it all with the most amazing poise and what i can only call regal aplomb. i love her unabashedly.

She looks sensational here. That color on her is really beautiful.

    • Wink

So lovely. She makes lace look good (and I’m not a fan).

    • http://smalltownbigwardrobe.com/ Catherine

This looks very much like the Marchesa dress Hayden Panetierre wore to the Golden Globes (?) a year ago. I think TLo said at the time that dress needed a taller lady.

      Case in point!

    • KT

Whoa, she looks incredible. Get it, lady!!!

    • ThaliaMenninger

      Fabulosity.

    • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

      Two thumbs up!

    • bringbackbeatles

Gorgeous dress on a gorgeous woman. That color is great on her. Jewelry is beautiful. I’m really loving her style more and more lately. Like T.Lo said, she really glows. So excited about her Time cover as well.

    • majorbedhead

Geez, I totally thought you guys were going to rake her over the coals and I was all, Wait, what?

      She looks pretty damned spectacular.

    • julnyes

Though I do wish for a greater departure from the cocker spaniel hair, I love everything else about this look. She looks elegant and lovely.

    • http://www.lippsisters.com/ Deborah Lipp

Much softer than her usual look. More “lady” than “diva.”

    • Lilithcat

I like the dress, I like the bag. But I don’t like them together.

    • warontara

She’s SO PRETTY!!!!! I love it!

    • http://www.dogsdotcom.blogspot.com/ Plink

I cannot get enough of this actress…it’s almost to the point that I’m starting to have a little crush on her the way I was all “crazy eyes” for Hayley Mills in my adolescence. Laverne, want to come over for dinner tonight?

    • Lisalady161

Maybe its the pics, but the skirt bottom makes her look stumpy. Other than that, she looks phenomenal and I would knock her down for that clutch.

      • demidaemon

I think these shots probably aren’t from the most flattering angles, and, despite that, she still looks WERQ worthy.

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

      Love!!!!

    • Richard Harper

      Stunning.

    • macwell

She is living her truth. Guurrrll – werq that truth – ! :)

    • FibonacciSequins

Finally, a good use of illusion netting! Laverne looks divine (with a small d) here.

      • http://www.snoskred.org/ Snoskred

The fact that the netting is the same colour as the dress helps millions. :) I do not think there is a netting fabulous enough to match Miss Lavernes glowing skin. :)

    • Celeste

I would cut someone for those eyebrows!!!

    • dschubba

      Flaw. Less.

    • http://vhanna26.typepad.com Vera

      Get it gurl!

    • http://cheekypinky.wordpress.com cheekypinky

OH. Oh, honey. You are radiant.

    • livesarah

      Beautiful.

    • Alloy Jane

This hair is much improved and normally I hate lace over pale fabric because it’s usually trying to achieve the “naked” look, but having it over that champagne metallic does wonders for that shade of blue. I really love the bodice. It makes her look like a color pencil sketch. I just wish the lower half of the skirt was different somehow. Maybe it’s that gap in the gathers on her leg and the bunched area at the crotch that makes it awkward for me. I wish we could see the back of this.

    • lilazander

Sifulohe gown. The colour is beautiful, but the rest is meh.

    • altermyego

Fergie take notice and a lesson from Ms.Cox.
Has this woman earned the most werqs from you guys? She must at least be in the top five. What a gorgeous color!

    • carnush

      Beautiful color. Great makeup.

    • MannahattaMamma

      specfuckingtacular

    • webslice33

she’s more beautiful than any other real (woman) actress…gorgeous!!

      • amaranth16

You probably didn’t mean to offend, but it is offensive to suggest that trans women aren’t real women.

    • Akemi

      looooooooooove

    • Mothra

      FANCY! And so pretty!

    • weakforchic

      very nice. love the hair.
