For some reason, it looks so much … stiffer on her than it does on the model, but we think it really works. It’s something of a style cliche to put large hoops or danglies on the ears of black women with short hair – especially dark-skinned black women. It’s something you see constantly in style editorials or runway shows featuring women of color. We’ve always felt it was notable how rarely her style team ever went in that direction, as if they were actively trying to avoid the cliche. We’ve gotta say, though; cliche or not, she looks spectacular with big ol’ hoops in her ears – but we suppose that’s not remotely surprising.

We can’t get a good shot of the shoes and people’s feet almost never look good from this angle (which is why we usually try to procure shots of the shoes), but while these are matchy and a little strappy, they look pretty appropriate for the venue and the look.
