Kelly Osbourne in Vera Wang at Rodeo Drive Store Opening

Posted on June 19, 2014

We suppose she tried to make the dress seem edgier somehow, what with all that head styling going on, but we can’t say it quite works.

More specifically, it doesn’t work with this dress. We actually really like the hair and makeup on her. They’re doing great things for her bone structure. Definitely could’ve used a stronger lip color than that, though.

As for the dress, it looks a little “Golden Girls” to us.  Or it could be that we’ve just hit the wall on giant, blurred florals. It’s not bad or anything. We’re just not falling-all-over-ourselves in love with it.

For once i’m loving her hair. Dress is grandma, though.

  • ashtangajunkie

LOVE the hair. The hair is fab. The dress is blah.

  • RussellH88

These blurred prints make my head hurt.

    • kimmeister

I think Vera Wang is secretly about to launch a line of glasses frames. She’s making everyone thing their vision is off with this print, so they will immediately run to the optometrist.

      • FrigidDiva

Ironically enough, she already does have a line.

        • ::adjusts Vera Wang glasses::

        • kimmeister

Er . . . then she is trying to drum up more business for it!

          • FrigidDiva

I honestly can’t believe the number of things she has her name slapped on besides clothing, mattresses being the oddest one I’ve seen thus far.

          • kimmeister

            Mattresses, seriously?!?

          • FrigidDiva

          • Skippymom1

I saw these and was, like, “Seriously? The bride has run out of things to register for?”

          • FrigidDiva

I’d like to know what exactly does a Vera Wang mattress feel like? Does you sleep on it better than a regular mattress? Is it stuffed with tulle and organza?

        • evave2

Oh, I have far-vision and near-vision glasses; both see wavy lines.

          Why is she giving bitch-face?

  • boweryboy

She’s giving good face and the hair is fierce. That’s about all I like.

  • AlisonS

She needs to call up January Jones and get some lessons on bitch face. This is just “I smell poo and I’m not happy about it.”

    • Fanny_Trollope

      Permasneer. Not attractive.

      • smh4748

She actually has a really pretty, natural smile too. Maybe that’s why she doesn’t deploy it– “pretty, natural” aren’t really Hollywood things.

        • DebbieLovesShoes

    • sansha

Ah, what I refer to as “stank face”.

    • CommenterFormerlyKnownAsR

although it suits how I feel about this dress.

  • cat772

    Why u so mad, Kelly?

  • kimmeister

Loving her eye makeup. She’s giving off a tough Pink vibe.

  • traceyishere

That’s not her dress. She’s just not the anorexic waif that the dress needs but her paint and mop are glam.

  • This lilac hair of hers makes me so sad. I love the cut and the style but the colour just irrits me.. 🙁

  • decormaven

The stitching on the dress looks cheap and I’m not fond of the fabric. Kudos to her for trying to glam it up, but it’s not working.

    • KES4K

Agree it looks a bit down-market. Are we sure this isn’t from Vera’s collection for Kohl’s? Because for $29.99, I could totally get behind this dress…not for 20x that, though.

  • Diane_G

I think it’d lose the grandma feel if she just went sleeveless.

    • fursa_saida

Sleeveless, and some way more kickass shoes. Ladylike pumps are not helping the mismatch here.

  • MilaXX

Agreed, the dress feels a bit mature for her. Surprised she not wearing one of her MAC lippies. The collection looks better than I expected.

  • The hair is very Cyndi-Lauper-ish (that’s a compliment). I knew why Cyndi Lauper was famous. Why’s Kelly famous?

    • FibonacciSequins

For doing what TLo do, and not nearly as well.

      • Sarah

For being Ozzy’s offspring, originally. Reality show and whatnot. (barf)

      • Constant Reader

Ugh. I just Googled her site and good God, the writing is overwrought. She’s like a downmarket GOOP.

      • demidaemon

Truth be told, she really plays the nice one on the show, and that doesn’t always work, especially when you are dealing with the Queen Bitch, Joan Rivers (I say, with love).

    • demidaemon

She also had a decent album in the late 90s, I think. No great shakes, though.

  • JauntyJohn

From the neck up this is pretty sensational.
I’ve been generally neutral on the My Pretty Pony Hair color (and seriously, Jan Brewer just worked that till it can be worked no more, so… perhaps that palette should be retired, like a sports jersey after someone’s left the game) but in this case, as an accent with more of her natural hair color coming through on the shorter bits, I think it’s super pretty.
And generally I like someone who stakes a claim, style-wise, and decides “this is my thing.”

Although there seem to be some fit issues I think the dress flatters, actually. I like that she’s a healthy, curvy gal and has never declined to enhance that. But although it flatters it doesn’t really excite.

And I’m already ready for giant, blurry florals to go away — and I don’t even hate them (yet).

  • rhône

i like the blurred florals trend generally but i loathe these colors and the silhouette of this dress. her hair and makeup are on point. i think the lip could have worked if the dress weren’t so business-like and boring.

  • That is a face that will launch a thousand drag queens. Kudos!

  • @Biting Panda

I like it. I wish for more lippy, but I like the play of hard edgy against floral prim.

  • Ashleigh

I kinda like the whole thing. I think she’s got some attitude. I think it’s…”edgy”, but not tacky…tho I’m not sure that’s exactly the right word. I think she’s werqing it

    • FuhUgh

Oh good, I thought I was all alone on this. I think it’s fine. Suits her. Fits well, styled well, no arguments.

  • FibonacciSequins

The dress looks better to me than it might have if I hadn’t just come from looking at that Katie Eary mess. The shoulders are somehow not fitting her, which is bothering me. I do like her hair and makeup but she shouldn’t attempt that sneer – it makes her look cross-eyed.

  • Kent Roby

Did several designers get together last year and decide to do blurred florals? It seems so odd to see that in several collections (Peter Som’s being the blurriest)

  • Cheryl

Not loving, but not hatin’ either. I’m liking the hair here, the colour, cut and everything. She does need to work on the bitch face though, I’m getting Billy Idol vibes.

  • Sleeveless and 2 inches shorter, and then YES.

  • Jessica Freeman

The dress is quite boring in comparison to her head.

  • Kbear

Wow – the expression on her face made me immediately not want to look at the rest of her. I want her to go away

  • Laura Abrahamsen

Love her head, but the total look is giving me ’80s Bette Midler.

  • Pennymac

Does she smell something bad? That facial expression…

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

      Beans, beans, the musical fruit…

    • alliekat9090

  • surfergirl70

  • Sarah

Don’t be sneering at ME, missy. You might think you bad, but your lavender hair (however fiercely styled) would not fly in MY hood.

  • Aidan B

Love the hair, LOATHE the lip color. Indifferent to the dress. Overall a decent look.

  • marlie

STOP IT with the smizing. STOP. That said, this is the most that I’ve liked her hair (which isn’t saying THAT much), and her makeup would have been pretty great with a bolder lip color. The dress… is not for her.

Seriously… that sneer almost makes me angry.

  • Violentcello

I like it, though I’m not sure why. It has a lot of things I don’t normally like–blurred print, shaved sides, that awful, dishwater color in her hair–but somehow everything’s coming together. It’s like all the bad is cancelling itself out into something good.

  • Who the hell is excited over giant, blurred florals?

  • nannypoo

I think her makeup is really awful. And that face! That hair! Can’t stand any of it.

  • Denise Rambo

She really wants to get away from that lavender hair but, from what I’ve read, her “Fashion Police” contract includes a clause about it. I guess she figures if she can’t change the color, she’ll just go with as little of it as possible – LOL! It’s doesn’t look bad on her though. I wish I could get away with shaving most of my head. And I LOVE the eyes!

  • Tanya Wade

Oooh girl. That’s a lot of slap on one face! Dress reads “It’s raining on the lanai windows in Boca.”

  • bitchybitchybitchy

I haven’t been a big fan of that winged eyeliner look, but it is working here for Osbourne. As for the dress, it’s okay, but not exciting.

  • snarkykitten

Stop smirking! You’re only famous because your dad is.

  • Her face looks amazing, though I feel like if you’re going to do the last pose better go whole hog and suck in the cheeks. Hair is totally unique and polished-looking. The dress could work as styled if the fabric were matte. There is just nothing that can overcome the sheen and the Golden Girls’ lanai print. That said, the whole look is way too heavy for mid-June.

  • TinyDynamo

Meh. I’m very bored of her, & this whole getup just doesn’t work for me. It seems to try too hard not to be trying too hard.

  • Gloriana Reginata

I was quite taken with the swirly hair thing at first sight, but in the closeups I don’t think it suits her: she has such a defined jawline that her whole face comes out triangular with the pointy bit at the top. And we all love triangular faces, but only when the pointy bit is on the bottom. The dress is utterly bleh.

  • MannahattaMamma

    Why is she sneering?

    • Myra Amler

If she wants to really pull off a sneer, she needs to study Billy Idol videos.

  • LadyVimes

She looks so much older with that hair. Wow.

  • She usually has such a cheerful smile, trying to make the dress edgy with Billy Idol’s lip-curl is not an improvement.

    • Wink

Oh, god. “Billy Idol in drag” is the first thing that came to mind when I saw her snarl!

  • Shawn EH

Lose the sleeves and the belt, much cuter.

  • AzSportsGirl

The neckline is so not flattering. The shape is kind of blah. Love the print.

  • MarissaLG

I like the look, just not with the wide belt.

  • Give that dress to Chris Jenner…too mature for KO!

  • Imasewsure

The dress is fine but nothing special… loving everything above the neck for once including the bitch face….

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

I think she looks good, but is she attempting bitch face?

  • fursa_saida

LOVE her head. Don’t even care about the rest.

  • crash1212

Well, she certainly thinks she looks fabulous…guess that counts for something. I’m not feeling any of it.

  • Danielle

Still hanging on to that lavender color, are we?

  • mjmiller77

honey, this ain’t your dress. Perhaps cutting off those too tight sleeves and making it a pretty sleeveless sheath? And that purple hair (that looks grey) STILL makes you look way older than you are…

  • I don’t know. I like it all….even the dowdyish dress.

  • BitterOldQueen

Does she smell a bad smell?

  • queeniethebold

    “It’s not bad or anything.”

Oh, i don’t know. i think it’s pretty bad, actually.

  • smh4748

“You know your mother, Malfoy? […] that expression she’s got, like she’s got dung under her nose? Has she always looked like that, or was it just because you were with her?”

    Narcissa Malfoy, fashion icon.

    • Alloy Jane

You just made my day 🙂

    • demidaemon

She would be, don’t you know it. 😉

  • conniemd

I like the hair, but something about her face posing as bitchface gives her a facescrepancy where the left side and right side of her face look misaligned and asymmetrical (in a jarring way).

  • Cynica

    Palm Beach Matron.

  • andreawey

not crazy about the print but the dress itself is very flattering and the hair kicks ass for once!

  • amanda lynn

The hair looks great. Today. And the rest of the time that it takes for her to grow out the shaved-head-thing… will we keep loving it?

  • suzanne77

Is it me, or would this dress look 100% better sleeveless? That 3/4 length sleeve paired with the blurry floral is very aging. I think no sleeves could give it, if not edge, then at least some sharpness.

  • Miranda Neville

  • Skippymom1

At least she matched the hair to the floral.
For someone who’s claim to fame is “Birthed by Ozzie Osbourne” – I will say the woman is stunning.

  • Joyce VG

Team Kelly! Love love love the hair and make up. But not the dress.

  • Alloy Jane

I like the hair, the earrings, and the eyebrows. You know, I just don’t get the point of a blurred floral dress that is boring. Isn’t the effect supposed to be surrealistic? This print is just “Grandma in the garden without her bifocals.”

  • lundibleu

Might help if she wasn’t making a face like there was a bad smell in front of her, but loving the head styling here. Not so much on the dress though, Maggie’s blurred floral the other day was far better.

  • Man Dala

I think she looks sophisticated and event-appropriate.

  • demidaemon

That is the primoest bitchface I have seen in a long, long time. Loving it.

  • ShaoLinKitten

I really like the whole thing. She looks bad ass.

  • DagnyReardon

I admit that I have never been a fan of tattoos, but can any of the BK’s tell me when this trend will die?

  • She always looks clownish to me. Perhaps it’s the hair color. On my irrational hate list, though I think it might be pretty rational in her case.

  • Fuchsiaforever

I disagree: Girl that’s not your haircut!

I think the opposite is true. Hair is doing terrible things to her bone structure.

  • livesarah

Head styling a la Pink, dress style… Someone 40 years older…. Except, unlike on Pink, that hairstyle really doesn’t work. Her jaw looks cartoonishly large.

  • sk8tfan

She’s the flight attendant from “Fifth Element.”

  • That haircut is aggressively unflattering on her. 🙁

  • GillianHolroyd

Defending blurred flowers, love this fabric. The cut of that dress is odd though. What is going on with the upper arm on the left? Also will forever love the lavender hair. Back in the early 60s, women tinted their (white) hair pastel colors and dyed their poodles to match. Must have been a sight to see!

  • Ann

Maybe she had on some really fierce outfit that worked with the hair and face and spilled something on it? And this was the only thing she had to change into?

  • Laura Livingston

Aggressively not rockin’ her Mom’s dress. Love the hair style, not the color. Love the fabric…for my couch.

  • empath

all I get here is disdainful restaurant hostess

  • She is so striking–love the undercut on her hair. And the dress is…feh, isn’t it?

  • lilazander

Those blurred patterns make me nauseous, literally (and not because they are ugly or anything of that sort, they just make my head spin).

  • Mr. J.

I do not get this person. AT ALL. Starting with her hair.

  • LeelaST

Can’t say anything about this appeals to me.

  • She looks like her dad! Not in a bad way, somehow… the hairdo is bringing out her strong square face shape and maybe the half-sneer looks a bit Ozzy.

  • Her facial expression makes me angry.

And I don’t think anyone has worn a blurred floral better than Amy Poehler. They should all stop trying.
