IN or OUT: Freida Pinto at the Chanel Cruise Spring 2015 Photo Call

Posted on May 14, 2014

This is weird, right?

We’re all in agreement? Weird? Then it’s up to you to decide if it’s a good weird or a bad one. We love the skirt, but we’re not at all sure about the top. The bag and cuffs just don’t go. But is it bad? Or does it add up to something adventurous and chic? We’re tired. Figure it out.

Bitter Kittens make the call:

IN! Good weird!

The kittens rose up as one and declared Marion Cotillard’s glittery night gown to be a disaster and voted it OUT.

    • Danielle

The top reminds me of those magic stretch shirts, the tube tops that were impossibly small but stretched to fit almost every size.

      • Jacob Bowen

Oh my gosh, my sister used to buy those at Sam’s Club!

        • Danielle

They still sell them at Walgreens! Amazing!

    • Chartreusite

Chanel has gotten very strange recently. IN for the sheer cray of it all.

    • P M

      Out. OUT OUT OUT OUT.

    • annla

      OUT because of the accessories.

    • IMNAngryLiberal

Out – top is hiddy and her hair and make-up are strange .. like I wouldn’t have recognized her without her name on the post.

    • Sarah

IN because 1: It is not NEARLY as weird as it is on the models as separates (Canadian Tuxedo WHUT? Pantalones WHO?) and 2: I actually think she looks really cute.

      • Let it out

Dunno how she’s doing it, but agreed, IN!

    • @Biting Panda

      In. Good weird.

    • kcnitch

      No- for the top alone.

    • lundibleu

I’m going to vote IN. She looks good, but I really am not liking this Chanel collection, and I reckon she got one of the best pieces in that skirt. I think Batty Uncle Karl is possibly permanently ratarsed. But yes, she does look better than either of the models, WAY better.

    • MilaXX

IN! Good weird for me. I’d lose at least one bracelet, but I like this.

    • clatie

it’s kind of working for me.

    • quiltrx

OUT, bad weird. I like each piece, but not together.
(She’s so lovely, but I so seldom like what she wears…)

    • Janet B

Those two pieces aren’t working well together for her.

    • MW

      IN for skirt and face.

    • msdamselfly

Her hair and makeup are so blindingly gorgeous that even a roll of toilet paper would look good on her. The skirt is really cute. IN

    • ChelseaNH

The skirt is a great start but it’s just not coming together for me. Gonna go with out.

    • Jeremiah Capacillo

IN! It’s like editorial in real life but it works.

    • Henry Maler

Those poor models look ridiculous, but somehow I can’t hate. IN.

    • fursa_saida

I dig it, but definitely not for everyone. In.

    • LeelaST

OUT. As bad/weird as Lupita at the Met Gala.

    • Shannon

IN! I don’t like the bag either but everything else is amazing. I want that shirt.

    • E.Nelson

In. Even with the bag and cuffs. Chic as fuck. It goes. Love it.

    • hughman

It has Coachella written all over it.

    • BobStPaul

      Very bad weird.

    • Lynn

Is it me or does the Chanel show wander dangerously close to Native Appropriation territory with the accessories and feathers? Didn’t the internet just blow up at the Oklahoma governor’s daughter over something similar?

      • demidaemon

It is not just you at all. In fact, I’m pretty sure they ran over the appropriation line with tank treads.

        • bitchybitchybitchy

“We’re artists! We’re saluting the creativity and spiritual strength of Native Americans!” Translation: we’re completely out of original ideas. So sue us.

          • demidaemon

            Somebody really should.

            • BrooklynBomber

Yes, if nothing else, for wandering beyond dangerously close into bad taste-ugly clothes territory.

            • bitchybitchybitchy

              A class action suit

      • Constant Reader

Yes. And that’s my problem with Freida’s outfit. First, a disclaimer: I’m half Portuguese, which translates in my case to people guessing I’m everything from Italian to Greek to bi-racial to Arab (TSA agents enjoy guessing the latter with time-wasting results). I have to be very careful with anything ruffled, fringed, etc., because it become costume-y at best and cultural appropriation at worst REALLY easily.

That said, I feel like Chanel grabbed a woman with dark skin and hair and went Carmen Miranda Lite with her clothing and styling. Not only does it lack imagination, it takes the entire South American continent, and India, and flattens it all out to a sort of romanticized vision of vague ethnicity. So, OUT.

        • SayWhaaatNow

Interesting, I had a different reaction. (Full disclosure: I’m Indian – as in South Asian.)

I had a problem with the way the models were dressed because the feathers turned the outfits into full-blown cultural appropriation, but I think that Freida’s outfit here doesn’t cross that line. There’s nothing about that top or that skirt that is clearly suggestive of any particular culture (unless that is a distinctly Native American print, or South America is the only continent to own ruffles). I see what you’re saying about creating a romantic vision of vague ethnicity, but to be honest, we romanticize so many looks that I don’t see how it’s bad to add that to the mix. Freida doesn’t look anything but Indian to me no matter how she is dressed, but if that translates to “vague ethnicity” to other people, I suppose that would be a reflection of something that I have not yet (or cannot) experience myself.

          • Constant Reader

I mean that the outfit has a “vaguely ethnic” vibe, not Freida herself. :) And my problem with it could be in context with the other outfits in the collection. And definitely affected by my own experiences!

      • Danielle

Our govenor’s daughter is a total idiot, big difference.

    • what not

OUT. I can imagine outfits in which each of those pieces looks interesting with something else, like the white…thing…with a body-skimming jersey underlay, or the crazy skirt with a tailored top. Together they make no sense. But I like that Chanel has taken a weird turn, for novelty’s sake.

    • kfizz

She looks great! It’s weird, and the top looks better from afar than it does up close, but even still, she’s making it work as a whole. IN.

    • Carly Clement

IN!!! loversion the top and skirt together! and the little bit stomarch showing! i am also loving the hair and makeup… she just needs to change bag and cuff

    • YoungSally

Not as weird as with the denim.

Uncle Karl needs to stop watching Gunsmoke.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

Who do you think Uncle Karl dresses up like after the show? Marshall Dillon or Miss Kitty?

        • YoungSally

Little bit of both — Marshall Dillon with a fan I think.

          • bitchybitchybitchy

            I like it.

    • TwiddlyStun

Good weird – in! I even like the cuffs and the headband with it but not the bag.

      • ktr33

    • Jacqueline Wessel

OUT, except for the bracelets and her beautiful face.

    • salty

Freida darling, never let Vanessa Hudgens dress you again.

    • Kelly Sowers

    • Twix

Out. She looks absolutely ridiculous. Looks like she picked the skirt and then went with a ‘solid top’ to balance out the mess on the bottom. Sorry but Chanel is a bore now and so is she.

    • MinAgain

IN. I like both pieces very much. I’m ignoring the clutch and the cuff.

    • demidaemon

Bad weird. And ugly to boot, especially in the mix and match version of everything she is wearing. OUT.

    • altalinda

Bad weird. The bathmat doesn’t go.

    • Kimberlini

OUT but better than the models. Scary.

    • Jangle57

Maybe, just maybe if the top had been black instead of white but as it is: OUT

    • Tracy_Flick

OMG at the faux-Native American styling on the model. Blackface-adjacent, IMO.

    • Courtney

No. Separate it all out into different outfits. None of it goes together.

    • rebeemoon

IN. It’s interesting in a really good way and she looks fantastic.

    • ampg

IN – good weird. I don’t usually think of her as one to pull off tricky looks, but I think this works for her.

    • CatherineRhodes

    • teensmom99

IN–Okay but only on her weird. It helps to be the most beautiful woman in the world (but don’t take advantage of that, Freida, dear).

    • jw_ny

I must be tired, too, because I think it looks great head to toe…especially for her! :)

    • Kristen

      I’m going with good weird.

    • macwell

      Totally weird.

    • ChiKat67

Bad weird. Love the skirt but the top & accessories are killing it.

    • LongTall_Sally

I vote IN — good weird. I think she’s making the clothes work way more than they deserve and the accessories could be better.

    • phylora

IN mainly because she’s so beautiful.

      • Kitten Mittons

She really is so stunning. I think she’s pulling this off on face and charisma alone, because it would look silly, at best, on almost anyone else.

    • Pterodactyl111

In! Good weird. The best weird.

    • Trickytrisha

Decently good weird. At least the clothes look better on her than on the models.

    • Verascity

It would be TERRIBLE on literally anyone else but it somehow works for her, so… in?

    • Rhonda Shore

In. She looks cool, it works somehow.

    • alyce1213

The shot of the model with the feather coming our of her head is upsetting on many levels.
I’m torn on this — I like the skirt, dislike the top (at least with this skirt).

    • MitchellGilburne

LOVE she took a piece from the cowboys and a piece from the Indians. Synergy!

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Weird, and not in a good way. The top might work if it were paired with cigarette pants or shorts. The skirt could work (maybe) with a more restrained top. What the hell is Uncle Karl smoking these days? Granted these pieces are for the cruise line, but still.

    • Amel

She looks like a magical angel who happened upon the perfectly colored/patterned Chanel skirt. Love it. IN
p.s. But the models appropriating Native American headgear make me feel uncomfortable, I questioned whether to change my vote just for that

      • Shelby

Thank you for noting that. I’m a bit uncomfortable from it too.

    • Dany

IN. Absolutely fabulous. I don’t care if it looks silly, she’s making it work and making a statement.

    • Anne At Large

I am terrified that those are actually pants. Is it just me?

      • semirose

Definitely not just you! They really look like pants on the model and it’s scaring me. Maybe they’re super wide leg and since she’s not in motion it settles like a skirt.

      • alyce1213

Fear not. She’s wearing a skirt version of the model’s look, which is clearly pants.

        • Anne At Large

Praise the fashion gods for that.

    • BLauD

Reminds me of a toilet paper cover doll. You know, the knit ones. Too many ruffles. Out.

    • Debbie Arnold

New and innovative designs I probably could not fit anything but the designs were nice.

    • Slanted & Enchanted

IN! This is what Vanessa Hudgens only wishes she looked like whenever she attempts the boho-chic aesthetic.

    • jif

Might have worked with better / different accessories. This particular bag with this particular outfit? Jarring.

    • lunchcoma

In. It’s weird in a cute way.

    • decormaven

Out. The accessories are too focus pulling.

    • t bell

Out, it’s just weird. I think “Little House on the Prairie”, Phyllis Diller outfits, etc. but can’t really describe what this appears to be ,but whatever it is it ain’t good.

    • CPK1

it adds up to something that is weird and not chic. OUT

    • kim bunchalastnames

the skirt is AWESOME. wrong top — it needed to be sleek and form-fitting.

    • kategs

gerg. what on earth is up with KL of late?

    • Lisalady161

      In. She looks great!

    • titaness25

The skirt is cute, the top tragic, and everything above the neck utter perfeckshun. I’m voting in, because two out of three ain’t bad.

    • Monabel

In. She looks good, and not doused by the weird.

    • formerlyAnon

    • Hetha Innis

IN! Love the skirt and her skin and hair color really make that top sing. Love it.

    • JP

I was going to say out, until I saw the runway looks. She looks so much better by comparison, I want to say in. But I can’t.

    • Synnamin

huh. it’s weird, but it’s starting to grow on me. In

    • KendraMR

      IN. Good weird.

    • ktr33

In. Good weird. And I do like the cuffs with it, but not the bag. And much better than what’s on the runway. It takes some imagination to take pull from those two crazy runway looks and make it in to an RC look. Nice.

    • GKaller

IN! Good weird. And I like that she took two pieces from a collection I don’t love and put something stylish together.

      • Shelby

I agree completely. I didn’t like the collection even when K-Stew did her weird ad campaign for it. But I like it here.

    • SewingSiren

Way better than the runway. I give a weak in.

    • KayEmWhy

Out. Looks like a circus rodeo outfit.

    • Emily Smith

I like it, it’s weird but it’s In weird for me.

    • bringbackbeatles

In. Love the skirt and there is just something good about it. It’s different and I like it.

    • Julia McLean

Good weird! She’s somehow pulling it off. IN.

      • venusvelvet

It’s not my taste, but I agree, she is. also IN

    • Hoffa_w_HerHead

This should be horrendous… But I have to go with IN!

    • StarburstLady

Good weird. A variation on a flamenco dancer. But… chic.

I kind of wish she was wearing that blue hat the model’s wearing. Am I crazy?

    • breathlss79

      Big Bird couture. Bad weird.

    • Mothra

Well, it looks a hella better on her than on any of the models. But I am not sure that is an “in”

    • Shelby

I’m kind of shocked with myself, but in? Yes. In. The shirt is tricky, but I think she looks WAY better than any of the models.

    • CeeQ

It’s a close one……the top is cotton ball on speed, I love that skirt but her head gear is odd. Then you throw in the clutch and the big bangle and it’s all a bit much. It’s just too much of a mismatch. Like the stylist had 3 different looks in mind and decided to throw it in the air and see which sticks. It could have worked, I guess – but sadly, it didn’t quite. OUT.

    • Gatto Nero

Out — bad weird. Veering into Carmen Miranda territory.

    • gefeylich

In, although it does look as if some manic stylist went to town on her. The only reason she’s pulling it off is because she’s beautiful and thin and there’s only five major elements in this outfit (not counting the shoes or hairband, which I think is unfortunate in a Vanessa Hudgens-ish way) and not the 98 piled on the runway models.

    • somebody blonde

Definitely weird, but I’m not sure either. The shirt is definitely making it weird.

    • Miss wks

Too many fuckin RUFFLES….remember….RUFFLES have RIDGES…..

    • Scimommy

      Bad weird. Out.

    • joything

Good Weird! The models are walking Bad Weird. Frieda Pinto has demanded better.

    • Lori

Out. Bad weird. I suppose you could call it adventuresome, but it certainly isn’t chic. A good outfit could be made starting with that skirt, but this sure isn’t it. The top is awful and the styling is all wrong. How does someone look at that bag and those cuffs + that thing on her head + the rest of the mess and think, “Yes! This is it.”?

    • Judih1

Out because of everything but the skirt

    • Noah

Not sold on the headband, but IN.

    • ashtangajunkie

Oh, IN. That top is fug, but the skirt is gorgeous. I’ve had some wine, and I’m in a forgiving mood.

    • snarkykitten

    • Julie Chase

Out. The skirt is great, but that top is ridiculous.

    • ModernDowager

      In. Good weird.

    • AnguaVonUberwald

IN, Good weird. That skirt is crazy fabulous and I wish to have one. The top is just plain crazy, but she looks so awesome I can’t hate.

    • karonf

I had that button front, pale wash, blue jean skirt when I was in junior high in West Texas in the early 80s. If only I had known at the time it was Chanel.

    • semirose

OUT. Take the skirt and start over Freida. Hint, you don’t need to be in head to toe ruffles and in what world does that bag go with that outfit?

    • SophieCollier

It’s the most interesting she has ever looked. I like it.

    • Nancer

Out. But gosh, is she pretty!

    • Anni

      In. I love it.

    • prisma

Eh. I kinda like it. In.

    • uprightcitizen

I vote in. It’s weird, but I think they’re smart choices to pull from a wacky collection. It’s all great with her skin and shape. Even the cuffs, on closer examination, appear to have a Native American look with silver and a stone in them. Wouldn’t work on a lot of girls, but think she’s pulling it off.

    • kerryev

I think the top and the hair take it straight to college freshman trying out hippie drag for a festival.

    • Fuchsiaforever

      OUT. Bad weird.

    • shopgirl716

Not getting most Chanel stuff this year. Meh. Not the classic chic I associate with the brand at all.

    • ShaoLinKitten

      Just awful.

    • World of Sass

LOVE. It’s “I’m going to a party after a long week and I don’t care how weird I look but this is what’s clean and I’ll just sell the shit out of it. And wear a headband.”

    • FridaStaire

Good weird! Perhaps just because she looks so much better than the models.

    • BrooklynBomber

Exactly: love the skirt, weirdness up top. And totally wrong bag. Also, the top on the model in denim? A crime against humanity. What the fuck, Chanel?

    • Emily Roach

In. SO weird though. I like her mixing it up.

    • GoAwayKardash

IN! Love it. The cuffs are turned around and you can’t see the red stone on the front…they really do go with the outfit.

    • flamingoNW

      LOVE. IN.

    • MemHey

Out on sheer principle of not supporting the offensively dishonorable way in which this collection plagiarizes First Nations. That uncomfortable feeling you get looking at the runway images is national guilt, the morose cousin of national pride.

Also that top needs to be a black fitted tee.

    • David Kresner

Geez. Pieces are definitely better together than as shown on the runway. Skirt is passable, but a top that makes it look like you’re permanently shrugging? Those runway looks are ridiculous. Like 80’s denim from Goodwill ridiculous.

    • Laura Renee

IN for her (out for the culture appropriation on the models).

    • Bert Keeter

And the drab hair style? OUT!

    • sk8tfan

All it’s missing is the giant fruit hat and maracas.

    • GeoDiva

The skirt is IN but that top is OUT!

    • ellatheingenue

I just hate that entire Chanel collection.

    • Alicia

OUT – she looks like a toilet roll cover.

    • SorayaS

IN! Good weird is right. She looks gorgeous and they are actually more flattering together than in the separate runway looks. Loveee her head.

    • MissusBee

      Hot mess.

She should have chosen ruffles for either top or bottom, complemented with something sleeker to set it off.

      More ‘Chanel’, less piñata.

    • israel8491

Hair and makeup are lovely. Still an OUT.

    • Stefanie Argudo Mackenzie

It’s Dubai. No one was there to throw something over her?

    • Fred Vaughn

IN, despite a top that doesn’t flatter her body QUITE enough.

    • Jaeda Laurez

I love it. IN. But it is weird, I fully concede that. But she’s cute as a button an she’s pulling it off. Don’t like the bag or the cuff with this, though.

    • Anapestic

      Good weird. In.

    • sienna elm

out. ruffles on the top OR the bottom of separates, not both please. We need some balance.

    • holla

in. good costume. she looks like an indian princess, I mean native american princess

    • MoHub

Carmen Miranda for the 21st century.

And somewhere in the afterlife, Coco Chanel is weeping acid tears.

    • Den Milano

I say IN. Love the skirt! The top could look chic with skinny, black pants. Maybe.

    • Judy_S

In, though to some extent because as a woman of color she gives some focus to the vague ethnicity. I am seeing Dolores Del Rio.

    • aquamarine17

sort of OUT and IN for me. i think the skirt would look great to the knees WITH this top and sandals. (both of the model shots of the pieces are unfathomable and not working at all). i have to add, minus the cuffs

    • GillianHolroyd

Out, love the skirt, loathe the top. She’s got three different looks here. I saw this collection elsewhere, it was very 70s boho hippy and looked *fantastic*. Obv not the complete collection because there was nary a feather or denim in sight.

    • Ginger

Johnny Depp would totally cut a bitch for that denim hat.

      IN…good weird.

    • BrianaJC

In – love the head and skirt. Needs a simpler shirt though, some sort of black blouse, perhaps?

    • ojosazules

A definite don’t try this at home, but in. Good weird.

    • Alyssa

Out. I love the skirt, but not the top with it.

    • MartyBellerMask

      Too much, darling, too much.
Still, compared to the runway looks, this is toned down and tasteful. Really, it’s just a hideous collection and there’s not much she could do with it. She tried her best, but there is no styling this into something good. But the styling itself ain’t so hot, so I can’t even say A for effort. More like C for effort.

Which is a long way of saying, OUT. Find a new stylist, Freida.

    • Jessica

IN, if only because she made this totally bizarre collection look something bordering on wearable.

    • carnush

IN but just barely. Lose the cuffs and the bag, simplify the hair.

    • SayWhaaatNow

In. She took part of an outfit that smacked of cultural appropriation and she made it her own. I think she looks really cute.

      • Shawn EH

Thank you! I couldn’t figure out to say that, but that cowboy stuff does have connotations. Karl is a twisty one.

    • Jessica Rose

I thought that Cultural Appropriation of the Native American Culture was an OUT?

    • Badriya Al-Badi’a

Out, but I do like the skirt. Wish it had been paired differently.

Also a big out to Chanel for not listening to all those cultural appropriation discussions that followed the release of The Lone Ranger, or any other such discussions. There’s ways to show a Native American influence–which some of the clothes successfully do–and then there’s sticking feathers on your models.

    • Pennymac

Good weird. Not sure why I like it, but there it is.

    • Violina23

She’s really doing an admirable job trying to sell it, but it just ain’t working for me. A for effort, but OUT.

    • FrigidDiva

IN–I can’t explain why but this whole look really works for me. Thank goodness she didn’t wear any of the looks straight off the runway.

    • cocohall

I’m on board with everything but the clutch. That is some Alexis Carrington Power dressing purse, not to paired with this ethnically (but which one?) inspired look. The rest somehow works, although it shouldn’t if you do the maths on paper. Although one must be VERY LEAN to pull this off and not look like a lamp shade.

    • FancyPhilly

Out, based entirely on the top. The skirt is fantastic and she looks amazing, but the shirt looks like someone drew a big white rectangle across her chest. Thank goodness she didn’t wear the feather in her hair. WTF Chanel.

    • kt mac

      Good weird!

    • rissa42210

IN. Totally weird, but I can’t say that I hate it.

    • Tricia Rose

IN-ish. I don’t mind the top and bottom but good lord the bag and CUFFS?! really!? for this boho outfit. Gurl… those are not your assessories.

    • blondie65

Out…even though I think she looks better than BOTH of the models in that she turned something ridic into something less so…nonetheless, I just can’t with this.

    • MaggieMae

OUT. Keep the skirt and change everything else.

    • KinoEye

Based on the second model photo, a huge OUT OUT OUT. Yay, cultural appropriation and thinking that the one and only way to pay homage to Native American culture and fashion is sticking feathers on some blonde, white girl. Seriously — don’t people get that this crap is not OK anymore? Or maybe that there’s a whole universe of Native American style that doesn’t involve feathers? UGHHHH

      • Imasewsure

I completely agree with everything here except your ultimate conclusion about the In… this is soooo OUT to me and not just because of the annoying cultural cliches

    • Starts with K

Major out. Fluffy ruffled layers on top + fluffy ruffled layers on bottom = bad

    • FibonacciSequins

The skirt would have impressed with a simple white top. No, the accessories don’t go. A reluctant OUT.

I’m kinda digging the blue boots on the model in the second pic.

    • Shawn EH

IN! And I seldom say that about Frida Pinto. Her taste is a little delicate for me, but this look is kind of teenage and a little bit punk but also twee in the right way. Should have left the hair down like the models styling, but that’s the only quibble.

    • kimmeister

I don’t love the shirt, but I still have to give it an IN.

    • AlexisPayne

I kind of love this, In!

    • Sissy

love this look and love that it wasn’t ripped directly off the runway. it’s called styling, people.

    • Cathy S

I think it’s good weird. The skirts fantastic. I’m not crazy about her hair. I think it’s In though.

    • barbarienne

I’m not running screaming. The whole collection is weird. I’m offended by the bad accessorizing here.

I’m coming down on “I don’t like it, but I don’t hate it either. Props for trying to wear something a little different,” which adds up to a lukewarm, lower-case in.

    • Sam Erin

    • Imasewsure

OUT all bad, even on the models (so bad looking on women that they had to put them on men?). I think the skirt can stay though

    • Mary

IN–because the skirt is cute and the top makes me think of cake, and I love cake.

    • mjude

      IN. good wierd

    • Gatto Nero

(My earlier Carmen Miranda comment disappeared.)

    • BayTampaBay

OUT! The clothing pieces are great but they DO NOT go together. The top would look great great with the denim shorts from Rachel Zoe’s Spring 2014 collection.

    • webslice33

      IN for me..looks really cute!

    • tereliz

I don’t think that top goes with anything, much less a tiered skirt. Wouldn’t this skirt have been fab with a sleeker crop top?

    • bailey

IN nothing else matters with a skirt that breathtaking

    • melanie0866

IN. I wouldn’t wear it to work, but I love it. Maybe because I’m Texan and it looks almost normal to me.

    • crash1212

OUT. I love the individual pieces, but they do not go together.

    • Jacob Bowen

IN! I love the outfit and think the bag may work, but the cuffs were a step too far.

    • Terri Terri

She is gorgeous, but looks silly here.

    • MishaFoomin

      In. I want that skirt.

    • suzq

Love it. On her and no one else. Extra points for posing a midriff in Dubai.

    • elirt

BAD WEIRD. Looks like a really bizarre costume. for what, I’m not sure. VIP Burning Man tent? Circus of the Future Couture?

    • ReadBarbara

This outfit is laugh out loud odd. I cannot get behind clothes that create weird body shapes that don’t actually exist — fluffy square shoulders and ruffled rectangle legs, anyone?

    • conniemd

The Runway Pocahontas version is despicable. That said, the pairing of the “Indian” skirt with the ruffledy top is plenty weird too. Out.

      • RectPropagation

I know right? I was way more distracted by the racist runway version.

    • Darva Sutra

      Fugly weird. OUT!

    • MissFern

      good weird!!!

    • Lilithcat

Definitely weird. The skirt is fine, but the top is just odd. I’m trying to figure out if there’s anything with which that top would work, and I must conclude that the answer is “no”.

Oh, OUT, in case you couldn’t guess.

One cuff, not two, and not with that outfit.

Oh, OUT, in case you couldn’t guess.

One cuff, not two, and not with that outfit.

    • LaSylphide

Out. That odd top might be ok with skinny black pants and very high heels, but whoever paired it with this skirt needs his/her head examined.

    • ThaliaMenninger

BAD weird. BAD BAD BAD. The top is swallowing her neck like a shag rug with a baked potato in 1965. (That will only make sense if you’ve read Patrick Dennis’s JOYOUS SEASON.) And the runway show it came from is SO unpleasant I am willing to throw any babies out with the bathwater and the shag rug.

    • frannyprof

OUT. bad weird. Ms. Pinto has been slipping on the style front lately.

    • Alloy Jane

That’s a beautiful face. Too bad she dressed her body as a sassy toilet paper roll cozy. OUT.

    • Alloy Jane

That’s a beautiful face. Too bad she dressed her body as a sassy toilet paper roll cozy. OUT.

    • IraKi

    • Cheree Low

      good weird. in.

    • CNM

    • Constant Cat

      In. Strangely, in.

    • ankali

In. I like the skirt unreservedly on her. The top is weird, but she’s pulling it off.

    • sunflower

In. It’s weird and its working

    • Ren

Actual scrolldown quote: “What?! OH GOD, NO.”

    • Sara Leigh Merrey

      Bad. Paint it OUT.

    • Mary Lauer

Out. Bad weird. Would love the top with a smoother, calmer skirt. Not sure I would love that skirt with anything.

    • Vivi N

The clutch and the cuffs completely ruined the look.

    • cheekypinky

      She is stunning.

The outfit looks like something out of a bad dream.

    • lilazander

HOW did this collection come to be? And how come stars actually WEAR it? It is so fugly, or maybe I don’t get it…. But the items, each piece, are SO unflattering, ugh… She looks like a chicken on a farm.

    • AnneElliot

Dear God, that’s awful. Someone found two hideous looks and combined them. The sum is now worse than the whole of its parts, if you know what I mean. OUT, times 1000.

And I was shocked when I looked at it again and realized it was CHANEL. Is Coco spinning in her grave?

    • barbarasingleterry

I know I am late to the party, however, I have to comment and say that the outfit with the ruffly top and ruffly skirt really reminds me of the China Poblana outfits worn by the Ballet Folklorico dancers. I kinda like it…

    • Ann VerWiebe

The runway looks are way weirder!

    • Deborah Lipp

An Indian dressed as a cowgirl? How can that not be a big IN?!

    • Mousentrude

In. Accessories are completely mismatched but I like the rest of it.
