Yeah, that pretty much looks like a gown version of a comic book costume. At the end of the night, those things turn into wings and she flies away. In our heads, at least.

Well done, Fan Bingbing. Well done.

Stunning. Great dress, well-deployed up-do and good jewellery. I bloody hope everyone else there was worthy of her. My only quibble, and it’s a personal one, I really don’t like that shade of orange lipstick she often wears. Not that it doesn’t suit her, it’s just not a colour that I personally like.

    • decormaven

Yes, it did not read well in the event lighting. Other than that- glorious. Love those bracelets!

      • Sarah

MMMM sparkly bracelets YASSS. Gives them to me, my precioussss.

    • Ginmaru

You know I was just thinking that. Amazing. I wonder why she uses that color? Well, at least it isn’t nude or bare or Max Factor’s Erase in medium.

      • Alicia

I’ve read an interview with her that says she can’t be without her signature colour lipstick – which I assume this is! So I guess she likes it, I just don’t know why.

        • DTLAFamilies

Maybe she gets paid to wear it?

        • Alloy Jane

I think because it’s the colour that makes her face look natural without looking bare. If you’re not paying close attention, her face always looks “fresh.” Only when you’re giving her a good eyeballing does it read as “orange lipstick.”

    • Gayer Than Thou

My only quibble is that too much of the bodice’s infrastructure is visible. I realize that the demand that women should appear beautiful without any discernible effort of support is, shall we say, problematic, but at the same time she is wear ultra expensive clothing on the red carpet for a movie in which she plays a superhero.

      • Alicia

        A very valid quibble.

  • Danielle

Only she could wear couture feathers to a comic book movie premiere and look breathtaking.

    • SugarSnap108

On possibly anyone else, this would look silly. But she looks like she dropped down from another world of fabulous feathered beings.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

Fan BingBing lives on the planet Fabulousity, and graces us with occasional visits-that’s my story, and I’m sticking with it.

      • dulcian

Maaaaybe Charlize Theron could pull this off? Or Tilda Swinton? The list is short, for sure.

        • Meri

Lupita? I long ago decided that she’s going to play Storm in my imaginary X-Men movie

      • holla

        she just shut it down!!!

      • formerlyAnon

I dunno. I think anyone with a bit of height and poise could do it, at least the ones well out of their teens. Oh. Poise. Sorry. I wasn’t thinking . . .

  • Carrie

She looks stunning. I’d complain about it being too fancy for a movie premiere, but I can’t think of a more appropriate red carpet for a dress like this.

    • kimmeister

I was going to make the same quibble about it being a bit grandiose for a comic book movie premiere, but TLo’s comment about about it basically being a superhero costume in couture form makes sense.

  • @Biting Panda

“Dear God, make me a bird. So I could fly far. Far far away from here…”

  • Golfkat

Oh wow! So dramatic! Absolutely love it.

  • Matthew Davie

Her heavy-lidded “I judge you ALL” facial expression really completes this look.

    • Fanny_Trollope

She is looking into our SOULS.

  • Maya

completely gorgeous. like lupita, fan bingbing is nearly always flawless.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

If they are ever on the same RC, worlds may implode.

      • Maya

Everyone else there would just have to pack it in and go home. It’d be pointless.

        • bitchybitchybitchy

          So very true.

  • ktr33

And she wears it just as well as the model, a rare thing.

    • knitnorth

  • Kiltdntiltd

How dare she? Its just too much to bear that she gets to be able to pull this off without looking ridiculous. BRAVA, Ms Bing Bing. Brava.

  • gabbilevy

We knew she wasn’t human, this just proves it.

    DAYum, gurl.

  • Josefina Madariaga Suárez

Why hello, you fabulous creature of fashion. You were indeed missed here.

  • Janet B

Lovely way to start my Monday.

  • majorbedhead

How does she do that? That dress should be silly, bordering on ridiculous. But she’s making it sing arias.

    • Carleenml

that sound you hear is the rest of Hollywood whimpering for what they can never be.

    • Sarah

I saw the thumbnail and was thinking that those feathers were yarn, and I was getting ready to make a mop joke, then I opened up the post, saw it was Ms. Bingbing, saw they were blue feathers, and saw that she is Werqing It like there’s No Tomorrow. I am now ashamed of my nascent mop joke.

      • kimmeister

Your nascent mop joke is ashamed of itself. It shriveled up inside of your brain under the splendor of Bingbing’s fierceness.

      • Lucía Gavello

Shh… lets not speak of it again.

    • Luzia

it’s that presence. poise. something lupita has or rihanna. star superpower

  • MinAgain

She is stunning. I love that gown. It not only says superhero, it says old-style Hollywood glamorous superhero.

  • mjude

thank you TLO. one never gets enough of our Miss Fan BingBing. I still want my bingbing doll.

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

      Me, too.

  • Joanna

That is an amazing gown. There is nothing that I don’t like about it!

  • Anna

Fan Bingbing descends from Mount Olympus to attend the X-Men: Days of Future past New York premiere.

  • Jessica Freeman

Only Fan Bing Bing can pull off a dress with wings….she looks magnificent.

  • bluefish

She must be the most beautiful woman on the planet. Celebrity-wise, without a doubt — absolutely gorgeous, gorgeous woman. The dress is a hoot! Bet the designer is in total PR heaven right now. Look carefully at this gal’s expressiveness on the runway too. Not a full out smile nor the typical scowling and vamping. Total superstar.

    • GillianHolroyd

Especially since she’s maintaining face while the skirt is wrapping itself around her legs as she walks. Always the sign of questionable design.

  • lexilexi

In a way she reminds me of our Goddess Lupita. Just about everything she wears, she can pull off. And they both give such good face!

  • Tanya Wade

I have been waiting for her to take the lead in the poledance for X-Men. Glad to see she came out of the gate full stop.

    • kimmeister

I didn’t even know she was in it! I’ve never actually seen her in anything besides TLo red carpet posts. Looking forward to it!

  • shirab

Why was she not at the Met gala? Imagine the possibilities…

    • Charlotte

Hi,shirab.I was reviewing some old posts and I noticed your comment from last year. I guess your wish really came true.
she practically won this year’s MET gala with her stunning dress+cape combo and set the bar so high that few people could ever top it.

  • Dana F.

She looks like the Mockingjay. I love it.

  • PastryGoddess

    This is drag fabulous

  • ChaquitaPhilly

  • Kitten Mittons

She is such a stunner. Breathtaking.

    Is she in the movie?

    • DTLAFamilies

Yes! Along with Jennifer Lawrence, Hugh Jackman, Peter Dinklage, Ellen Page and a slew of other great people. Will definitely be checking this out.

      • Kitten Mittons

That’s quite a cast. Yes, I suppose I’ll have to see it eventually. The list, it is growing.

        ETA: Thanks!

      • bitchybitchybitchy

I just might have to give up my aversion to superhero flicks and check this one out.

  • MartyBellerMask

Wow. She is just MADE of fabulous.

  • NurseEllen

She should have worn this to the premiere of “Black Swan”! (Yes, yes, I know the dress didn’t exist a few years ago. But I can dream, can’t I?)

  • theblondette

AMAZING! I love it. So fun, but also glamorous! So hard to pull those two things off at once.

  • GorgeousThings

Fan Bling Bling is more like it. Look at the size of those rocks she’s wearing!

I’ve never been a huge X Men fangirl, but I definitely want to see this one.

  • marlie

So. Gorgeous. I couldn’t think of a better place to wear this gown. The dress is gorgeous and her hair and makeup are perfection.

  • lunchcoma

Oh, that’s just gorgeous, and she’s keeping up with it. It would have been so easy for that to look silly, but she has enough poise to carry it well.

  • Garcia Loca

This is how a swan dress should be done!

  • Flame Princess

Not only is she wearing a cape, her arms have capes of their own. Edna Mode would have a fit.

  • Dandesun

When I found out she was playing Blink, I immediately waited in anticipation of her premier looks.

  • bitchybitchybitchy

Flawless. Now this is another lesson in how you wear a cape.Gorgeous, gorgeous, my day is better for having a bit of BingBing in it.

  • LesYeuxHiboux

She’s such a fashion dreamboat. I want to print these photos out, hang’em in my locker, and sigh wistfully as I gaze at them.

  • MilaXX

Fabulous. That is some spot on couture character dressing right there.

  • Tracy_Flick

She looks gorgeous. I like Lupita better, though.

  • ConnieBV

This bitch is unreal. Snaps of respect.

  • Alyssa

My Monday is much better after this. She looks stunning, as usual!

  • Jennifer Bober

Wow! That’s a spectacular dress and she’s wearing the hell out of it. I love the depth of color in the feathers.

  • Stefanie Argudo Mackenzie

    Woof…that’s perfection.

  • unbornfawn

Great way to start the day. She wears a dress like few can. On a lesser dress wearer this could be a disaster, on Miss Fan it etherial.

  • LeelaST

  • uprightcitizen

I have a probably ridiculous question about these premieres. Do the people who attend actually sit in movie theater seats and watch the movies? When I see gowns like this, I immediately think about the floors in theaters (okay, this one is in a Convention Center, but still …) and if it would ever be clean enough for a white gown with a third of its fabric dragging on the floor. Does she get popcorn and a soda? Could you even relax enough to pay attention to a movie if you were dressed like this? What about the person next to you? Do they have to share responsibility for your feathers?

    • GabrielleWig

In most times the cast would leave right after the red carpet and interview (understandably, they are busy). Fans would stay throughout the movie. Media would leave whenever they’ve got enough to cover in the news.

      • uprightcitizen

Thanks! The actors are probably sick to death of watching the movie, anyway. Plus, it’s probably a distraction to have Emma Stone sitting two rows back from you in a movie theater. ; )

        • GabrielleWig

All out of safety concern. Can’t have a whole room of fans fainting over heart attack : 0

  • SewingSiren

    Wins FASHION.

  • Lisalady161

TBTBH: Too beautiful to be human. Lord, she is pretty.

  • GabrielleWig

Good news: Fan would also attend the premiere in Singapore, Beijing, and possibly Melbourne.
Bad news: she won’t be in Cannes this year.

  • Lolo Andre

Queen of fucking everything rahhh she is giving me life <3

  • Shawn EH

Finally she’s got a movie that is going to get her as much RC attention as she can handle. Run and hide, Jennifer Lawrence and Ellen Page! Halle, better fill that closet with gowns now!

  • Synnae

    WOW- just WOW.

  • Bert Keeter

Cool idea…but way too overdone. Shades of Black Swan….

  • Meri

Sequins AND feathers. I love it. And her expression in the 4th picture.

  • lamamu

  • Terri Ellis

Please tell me she is in this movie as the Bluebird or some sort of avian character. Oh, and we need her and Lupita in a fashion fierce off at some point.

    • Vtg Fashion Library

She plays Blink, who can teleport at will. And others. I want to teleport with her. This woman is amazing.

  • KayEmWhy

    Shuttin’ it down.

  • jkatkins

    Fan Blingbling!

  • jackie

I’m losing my mind…. I read her name as “Fat Bingeing” LOL

  • mrspotts66

    she’s stunning.
    the dress is stunning.
put the two together, and i have no words.

  • Jen

    But…. how did she walk?

    • demidaemon

      Through magic.

    • BluesD

She flew, because that’s what superheroes do. :)

  • demidaemon

BAM. Perfect for this premiere. Well done, indeed.

  • GeoDiva

Agree that only she can pull this off. Amazing!

  • cheekypinky

  • Truthiness2U

I knew I would get some good pictures here of this outfit, and her look. Thanks, TLo! As for the dress, accessories, her make-up hair…and how she sells it? All totally work for me. Sure, this dress would be a bit much for anyone else, not Fan Bingbing at supehero movie premiere. This is nothing something mere mortals should attempt.

  • FibonacciSequins

  • SophieCollier

Angelina’s gonna be PISSED that she missed this one. Woulda been perfect for her Maleficent run. Love it on Bingbing!

Good grief, she is so fabulous!!!

  • Aidan B

    Impressive, as usual.

  • understateddiva

Nailed it, as per us. It almost pisses me off. :)

  • LadyVimes

Yes. Love. Go on with your bad self, Ms. Bingbing. Just go on.

  • Renaissance_Man_ATL

Stunning and fabulous! Welcome back Ms. Bing Bing. It’s been FAR too long!

  • xmixiex

  • formerlyAnon

LOOK! LOOK! It’s sexy and stunning and attention-grabbing (and fun!) and NO cleavage, NO sheer, NO visible underwear.

I think I’m going to cry for joy.

  • Gaby

  • MyFavoriteColorIsGlitter

Good God this woman… She’s just too beautiful and perfect to even be real.
    Girlcrush in full effect.

  • Joey Melliza

    occassion appropriate!

  • Sofia

So glamorous. The hair, makeup and earrings go perfect with the dress. She’s stunning.

  • Kelly Sowers

    Why isn’t this a werq?

  • MoHub

    Where’s the WERQ?

  • Boris Sbarufatti

Cast her as Lilandra for a future X-men movie! She is perfect!

  • traceyishere

    The dress overwhelms her.

  • DeTrop

She is sheer perfection. Thank you TLO.

  • BrooklynBomber

    She’s just exquisite.

  • quiltrx

It takes some Masters-level dresswearing skill to pull this off without looking ridiculous.
She does it looking beautiful, ethereal, and not unlike she might cut someone. Awesome.

  •!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

the elegance is to absolutely DIE
