We are not worthy:

It takes a special lady to put on a Ralph Lauren dress and not only make it look fit for royalty, but also causes the model on the runway to run off in tears, ashamed at her lack of fierceness.

You WERQ THE HELL outta that “all shall love me and despair” shit, girl. GALADRIEL SNAPS, BITCHES.

    • Miranda

      Bow. Down.

      • holla

shall avert eyes as to not be blinded by the perfection.

    • Chickadeep

Well that outfit is utterly perfect.

      • MoHub

        She is utterly perfect.

        • Joey Melliza

i wonder who had the idea of making that white runway thing into a gown

          • MoHub

I hope it was Cate herself.

          • DebbieLovesShoes

            SO much better.

        • holla

it seems she just floats down from the heavens to grand us a vision of what perfection is. in the last pic, she seems to be annoyed that she has to walk among us flawed mortals.

    • Shelby

      Absolutely gorgeous.

    • sugarkane105

***Flawless. Not a single quibble. She really does look other-worldly sometimes.

    • clatie

    • Samantha Klein

    • uprightcitizen

Also kudos to her beautiful skin and excellent choice of undergarments. Then there’s walking on that path in spiked heels as if that’s how people were meant to walk. She really is in a league all by herself.

      • Amel

I would really like her to write up an underwear tutorial for me. I am both shocked and awed by this perfection

        • what not

Yes! How does everything she wears flow so perfectly over her? Virtually everyone else has bumps and squeezes, and she always looks flawless.

          • Monabel

Well, for one, she wears the right size. Most do not.

            • cocohall

Exactly what I was thinking. If she had gone down a size, it would be pulling and the regal effect would be lost. NO ONE KNOWS except you and your stylist what size you are wearing, but everyone can tell when something looks too small. (Although I laugh at anyone worrying about the size number when it is still a single digit.)

        • DebbieLovesShoes

          I’d buy whatever she’s buying.

      • PlethoraofBooks

Yes – how do they do that? Is there a special training class for walking in spiked heels that I can sign up for?

Also – I would willingly go into debt for those earrings, which are PERFECT for that look.

        • kimmeister

Spiked heels on gravel, no less!

        • makeityourself

Cate has a perfect understanding of the when, how and why to wear earrings, an attribute most all others in her field are missing.

    • lunchcoma

Now that is a woman who looks like she’s about to have dinner at a castle. Well done!

      • littlemac8

AND she plans to eat in that dress??? Who would dare…..

        • lunchcoma

I didn’t even THINK of that. Between that and the heels on the gravel, I’m beginning to wonder if she’s superhuman.

        • largishbearishAtlish

maybe they put down a plastic sheet and she pops her head thru it? straws- and all the food is strained? tiny tiny portions and nothing containing anything with red in it?

    • James

    • MsKitty

      Damn, just damn. Speechless.

    • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

    • BeeBeauNYC

Breathtaking. The photo with the whole castle in the background is absolutely perfect, right down to the man in the tux and the lady in the green dress – it could go straight to Vogue.

    • @Biting Panda

The stars have aligned. The choirs in heaven are singing. All is right with the world.

    • Mrs. C

Happy Birthday, Miss Blanchett…you look amazing!

    • Pato

LOVE the fabric. Looks so stiff and regal standing, but breezy when she’s walking. Or is it the way she’s walking?

      • Constant Reader

I think she brings her own atmosphere of awesomeness with her everywhere she goes and that is what gives the slightly breezy effect when needed.

      • gloriana232

YES. How is it a perfect column when she’s standing and suddenly fluid and gentle when she walks? DAMN THIS WOMAN.

    • GeoDiva

This why she is the Queen!

    • AlisonHendryx

I just want to know where was THIS for the oscars.

      • Denise Alden

        I hear that.

      • eowyn_of_rohan

I’m guessing a stylist said it would have looked too close to Goopy’s Tom Ford gown w/cape from the 2012 Oscars. Of course Galadriel >>> Goopy.

        • AlisonHendryx

Oh you’re probably right, they are simile. Not in the same league…. But similar.

    • Kent Roby

I had a crap day yesterday (including several large unexpected expenses and being targeted by a road-raged lunatic), but these images have completely reversed my negativity. Ahhhh.

      • kimmeister

        Glad you escaped the lunatic!

        • Kent Roby

Yes, thanks! After getting almost run off a bridge on an interstate, I responded to Lunatic Driver with a non-verbal expression of my displeasure, which caused Lunatic Driver to chase me off the next exit and around town for several blocks, even getting out of her Death Van at a busy intersection to run towards my car. It took awhile, but I finally lost her several blocks later, thankfully with no harm to my vehicle or my person. Much drinking and little sleeping followed, but all is fine today. I shall henceforth think twice before exercising my right to non-verbal free speech!

          • Jacob Bowen

That happened to me last year so I pulled into the police station (after I saw the driver taking photos of my license plate) and the driver was smart enough not to pursue.

            • kimmeister

Did you actually speak to any police officers? Or was pulling in sufficient to scare the driver off?

            • Jacob Bowen

I was on the phone with dispatch and they told me to pull in to the parking lot and they would be there, so I did and there was an officer waiting in the lot.

            • Kent Roby

This driver also took photos of my license plate. If she had a gun, there would absolutely be one less Bitter Kitten in the world; her look of rage was that intense. Scary. If One is filled with anger, it should be due to something justifiable, like the decline of the House of Dior!

            • Jacob Bowen

EXACTLY, or a shortage of glitter in the world!

            • Kent Roby

My wine-fueled post-trauma online research last night revealed that pulling into a police station is the correct thing to do, as well as altering your paths (don’t drive near home or work) and avoiding closed areas like parking garages. I did alter my path, but was so freaked out that I forgot where the nearest police station is, even though it’s 2 blocks from my house and I drive/walk by it multiple times every day!

            • Jacob Bowen

I did alter my path also (except it all started when I pulled OUT of work). I actually waited at a green light to make a left and when it had turned yellow I finally went so they couldn’t follow, but they did. Then I circled through my best friend’s neighborhood, because it is EXTREMELY confusing, and then I was smart enough to call the non emergency number.

          • kimmeister

Zoinks! I can’t believe she actually exited her vehicle. Crazy drivers are the only thing that have ever even tempted me to want to, um, engage in avian gymnastics, but I have always suppressed the urge and just vehemently thought indignant thoughts at them. You have given me more reason to continue with this approach!

            • demidaemon

I want to steal “engage in avian gymnastics.”

            • kimmeister

I grant you my blessing to do so. *DING*

            • demidaemon

              Thank you. :)

          • Tess Tea

Happy to see you alive and posting.

          • holla

maybe she needed a view of this to set her at ease.

    • Carrie

      Goddess, I worship thee.

    • LilyVanessi

      There are no words.

    • Anna

Gwyneth’s 2012 Oscars Tom Ford has just been bitch-slapped.

(And I actually liked that dress)

      • ashtangajunkie

Not to mention, Cate knows better than to put her hair in a shitty, half-assed ponytail while wearing a perfect white gown.

        • Anna

Yeah, there’s no contest. I actually loved the Tom Ford, especially the cape. However Cate is regal and you WILL love her and despair, whereas Gwyneth is smug. You’re forced to concede when she does get it right sometimes, but you’re begrudging and not particularly enthusiastic about it.

          • bitchybitchybitchy

Cate also doesn’t try to pretend that she’s just another everyday gal who wants you to try her simply wonderful and good-for-you tofu/kale/acai smoothie, prepared in your very own pretentious and overpriced smoothie maker.

            • Anna

Not that she would ever sink to that level, but I would TOTALLY subscribe to a Cate Blanchett lifestyle newsletter though.

            • bitchybitchybitchy

It wouldn’t take much to turn me into a full-fledged Cate groupie, to tell the truth.

          • Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

I envision Gwyneth seeing this picture and bursting into tears. Because I am a mean, bitter woman.

            • Anna

A payback of sorts for the 1999 Oscars (even though she has more than Gwyneth now).

            • Carrie

I am still bitter about that nonsense. I take solace in the knowledge that one day Cate will over from Meryl in the Winning All of the Awards.

            • Constant Reader

I’m worse than you are. I envision Gwynnie consciously uncoupling from her sanity for a few moments.

            • demidaemon

I wasn’t aware that she was currently consciously coupled to it.

            • Constant Reader

              LOL! Excellent point!

    • Kbear

Perfection – she should give lessons to other celebs. Lea Michele should have one of these photos taped to her mirror so she has some kind of guideline on how to look.

    • Maluca

      She really makes it sing.

    • Mary Elizabeth Poytinger Baume

      GAY. GASP.

    • Anna Vasquez

Seriously. Did she CARRY THE SUN WITH HER just so it could cast that perfect little glint on the hollow of her cheek and give her skin a golden backlight?

      Well, shit.

    • boweryboy

I love how she accessorizes. And yes, she’s putting that model to shame.

    • LadyVimes

Dear lord. This is perfection. She put the model to shame.
Someone get this lady a country to run, because she is royalty.

    • sk8tfan

I wish she had worn that to the Oscars instead of the pastel parking attendant gown. Those earrings are TO DIE.

      • Sartorial_She

Agreed. The earrings are the perfect accent with that dress, and as a frame to her lovely face.

    • Janet B

    • Kathy_Marlow

Totally thought “modern Galadriel” when I saw this. Those earrings are to. die. for! WANT!!

      • bitchybitchybitchy

        I am loving her, totally.

    • marlie

Gorgeous. Simple, elegant, and classy. I love it.

    • unbornfawn

    • GillianHolroyd

    • Latin Buddy

FLAWLESS!!! So glad that she got to it before the follow bland, generic stars ruined it:

      1) Blake Lively
      2) Kim Kardashian
      3) Sienna Miller
      4) Gwen Paltrow

Feel free to add to it

      • Anna

Gwyneth actually did beat her to it at the 2012 Oscars.

        • boweryboy

But if I’m not mistaken that was a Tom Ford dress not a Ralph Lauren. Both were white, so there’s that, but this is way more fabulous than Gwynnie’s Oscar dress by leaps and bounds.

    • Chartreusite

THAT is how you do Ralph Lauren. DAMN.

    • Lilithcat

And she could probably drink a glass of red wine and not spill it on the dress, too.

      • kimmeister

Accompanied by a full plate of obedient spaghetti!

      • charlotte

She should, as today is her birthday!

    • SewingSiren

The Queen in front of her castle , no less.

    • http://thejoyfulfox.blogspot.com/ Laura

Hardly a wrinkle in sight. HOW.

    • ashtangajunkie

Just breathtaking. She looks absolutely flawless.

    • Imasewsure

Perfectly fitting that she should be standing in front of a castle… that is one fierce queen!!

    • Chuck Barthelme

Pure goddess. Love her. She makes me feel all tingley.

    • kimmeister

She must have deployed the horse trailer for transportation, because there is not a single wrinkle on her in that first photo. It almost looks like marzipan. Incredible.

      • NBG

I love a good Bitter Kitten horse trailer comment,

      • vitaminC

This. I seriously don’t understand why celebs don’t employ a fleet of Popemobiles to get to these things.

      • shirab

I was thinking fondant, but marzipan works too.

        • kimmeister

I thought fondant too, but decided that marzipan has an even more flawless finish.

      • kmk05

Exactly what I was coming in to type! It’s nuts. I’m just happy the last photo shows some small creases at her midsection, just to remind us that she’s a flesh and blood mortal.

    • schadenfreudelicious

Ethereal was the first word that came to mind

    • Jennifer Bober

      WOW!! Just WOW!!

Let me just say also, that I love that you guys are not afraid to fly your geek flag with the LOTR references.

      • yllas

LOTR references have nothing to do with geeks. The book and films are firmly established as classics and not dumb things to be shamefacedly acknowledged by a small cult.

        • formerlyAnon

Geek culture is no longer “dumb things . . . to be acknowledged by a small cult,” either. Irritating to some, but it’s also been somewhat mainstreamed, and in the milieu I inhabit, it’s become celebrated and desirable. Of course, much prettier and whiter people still play geeks in the movies.

          edited for basic language failure

        • Jennifer Bober

I’ve never considered geekery to refer to anything “dumb” to be “shamefacedly acknowledged” and I promise I’m not in a cult. I like things that are off the beaten track and have absolutely no shame about it. I am proud of the fact that I can read music directly from a 15th c. manuscript and can effectively execute a cartridge pleat. These are not exactly common 20th c. skills, so most people would shake their heads a bit at it.

T and Lo have also made Dr. Who references and I believe there was something in a post about one of them being a comic book lover. These are both things traditionally relegated to geek territory.

Until the films, someone who read the LOTR books would have also been considered a geek. Their success points out that these are fantastic stories with lasting themes, so we geeks have nothing to be ashamed of.

          • formerlyAnon

How/where did you learn to read 15th c musical notation? Maybe just because I’m not a musician, that sounds like an extremely esoteric, if cool skill!

            • Jennifer Bober

It is pretty esoteric. I’ve always loved early music and then I joined a medieval and renaissance living history organization. I’ve learned partially through my own research as part of the organization and partially through academic workshops and symposiums I’ve attended. There has been a lot of great scholarship in early music recently, but there are a lot of editions of music that were originally transcribed back in the 60s and 70s which were done without recent understanding, so it can really help to look at the original.

Being in the organization is also the reason I can execute a cartridge pleat, which was commonly used in Tudor and Elizabethan era clothing (I do all of my own costuming work).

            • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

I love the variety of talents the Bitter Kittens display. I need all of you on my team for the Zombie Apocalypse. You can’t tell me a cartridge pleat wouldn’t come in handy for repelling undead hordes.

            • Jennifer Bober

LOL! I’m also a decent shot with a bow and arrow and can cook some kickass meals over an open fire with a Dutch oven. Bring on the brain eaters! :-)

            • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

You are DEFINITELY on my team. In fact, you might be the captain.

    • http://melaniesuzanne.blogspot.com/ Melanie Suzanne

Per. fec. tion. That is all.

    • Kate Andrews

She’s gonna put Kate Middleton to shame with that!

    • Danielle

      I AM DEAD.

    • Josefina Madariaga Suárez

I did the loudest gasp at the sight of these pictures.

    • mommyca

I could watch at these pictures for hours… She is mesmerizing…

by the way, YOU HAVE to post the picture of Helena Bonham Carter from the same event: she looked amazing!

      • formerlyAnon

I was most impressed by Emma Watson. Understated but elegant, IMO.

        • mommyca

oh yes, Emma Watson was gorgeous! but I mentioned HBC because she did not look like her usual self :)

    • NBG

Everything but the earrings is WERQing for me. They look like jellyfish to me and it’s disconcerting. But A+ on everything else!

    • Julie Chase

      I am cry-laughing.

    • MilaXX

Beautiful. I can’t help but think should I ever jump the broom, this is more my type of wedding gown than all those frou frou ball gowns.

      • demidaemon

Simple elegance really can’t be beat.

    • estella_nyc

      Good gravy!

    • Ashleigh

      I thought the EXACT same thing. This is I N C R E D I B L E !

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

    • Ashleigh

I think this is one of my favorite “WERQ’s” ever!!! she is killing it.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Simply flawless. Indeed, we mere mortals are not worthy. Bowing down.

    • TLJezebel

    • Jacqueline Wessel

This is perfect in every way.

    • Annmarie Kane

      OMFG – That’s all I got.

    • Aidan B

Shut. Up. How is she so goddamn flawless? I am not worthy!!

    • http://sharialbert.com shazziz

    • AlisonHendryx

This is a serious question for T and Lo: all these gorgeous gowns lately, here, at the met, were they available for the oscars? Some of them would have been much better choices for the ladies wearing them. What’s the deal?

    • TaurusKW

I literally giggled and clapped with glee when you guys pulled out the “all shall love me and despair” quote. Although I have to say, her earrings look like little hangman drawings to me. It’s a bit disconcerting.

    • alyce1213

I’ll add my Hallelujah to this chorus. I love how everything under the dress is all smooth and how it fits just perfectly.
      The chandeliers are gorgeous.

    • PeggyOC

      Even the sunbeams approve.

    • lalahartma

Gorgeous. She should have kept the ring.

    • mjude

I am bowing the fuck down.. LOVE HER

    • EEKstl

      A Master Class in perfection.

    • Inspector_Gidget

She looks elegant, but also like she could cut a bitch. Especially in that last snap. Well done!

    • Rottenwood

Photos like these make it easier to explain to people why my top celebrity crush is 15 years my senior.

    • funwithpurses

So awed by this flawlessness, forgot to read the caption. Now I see she was at Windsor Castle to dine with the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge. What do we have to do to see a pic of her nibbling crudites with Cathy Cambridge??

      • bitchybitchybitchy

Now I am imagining Bill and Cathy Cambridge bowing in front of Cate as they murmur “We’re not worthy! We’re not worthy!”

        • quiltrx

You just KNOW that Cathy burst into tears when she saw Cate…and had to accept the reality that she will never, ever be that fierce.

          • bitchybitchybitchy

Cathy will have to console herself by petting one of grandma Betty’s tiaras….and still she will never be as fierce as our goddess Cate.

            • quiltrx

Couldn’t we all use a tiara for when we need consolation? :)

            • bitchybitchybitchy

The comfort tiara….yes, we should all have one, along with the beverage of our choice.

        • funwithpurses

    • colleenjanel

I just gay gasped in my office … and I’m straight!
Not only is she flucking flawless, she’s in front of a damn castle! Get those bitches out of the background in the first pic! It’s STUNNING.

    • Pennymac

      She is a goddess.

    • Antonia Elise Iacampo

Wow. I have no other words.

    • Joey Melliza

    • formerlyAnon

THAT is what someone with deep pockets and hot & cold running staff should be able to pull off, at least now & again.

(I saw a shot of Emma Watson looking awesome, if nowhere near this regal, at the same event.)

    • KinoEye

This look makes me want to write an epic poem about this Australian goddess and her flowing white gown. That seems to be the only way to do it justice. She is no mere mortal.

    • GorgeousThings

      Wow. Just… wow.

      • Shoelover1512

There’s nothing more to say than that!

    • Shawn EH

“What? This castle? Just the summer house, darlings, pay it no mind.”

      • decormaven

Truly. This is perfection fantasy squared.

    • SayWhaaatNow

      Wow. Just, wow. Stunning.

    • quiltrx

I think my husband put it best–he said she’s perfect like a porcelain doll.
I hope she takes a moment now and again to look in a long (hopefully very elaborately-framed) mirror and just take in how fabulous she is.

    • Judy_J

Perfection. THIS is how it’s done. All others take notes (I’m looking at YOU, Lea Michele).

    • Yolanda

I don’t know what shaper/foundation garment she uses, all I know is that I want/need it. Or if she is preternaturally flawless and can wear everything flawlessly, which I think we all suspect is the case. STUN. NING! Take a knee and bow down bitches!

    • Marcella Cypher

Whatever they put on the model looks like cheap bed sheets.

What Kate is wearing looks like it was made from one large white flower petal. Simply ethereal.

    • BlairBear

But wonky in the bust but she looks fierce and not remotely bridal

    • bunnydiet

    • bunnydiet

Also, a nice design for Kate Middleton

    • B_C_J

Stunningly simple yet she will stand out like a bolt of lightning. This look is beyond beautiful.

    • Betsy

    • A Certain Someone

      Pure goddess perfection.

    • BKagainwiththesweatpants

It’s Cate’s world. We just live in it. Bowing the fuck down.

    • http://www.chifleschips.com Stefanie Argudo Mackenzie

We should all cry, knowing we will never be that fierce.

    • Synnae

Wow – but it also is a lot more fierce because it a full evening gown where the long skirt balances out the right sleeve. On the model with the midi-skirt the sleeve is just too big. Also, skirt/dress over pants? Is that a thing again?

      • Sly

Those are above the knee boots. And people in the Middle east wear dresses or skirts over pants.

I know they do, they also do so in certain parts of India and Pakistan. However, it was a big (western for lack of a better word) fashion thing in the mid-late nighties and I was just wondering if that was coming back.
Didn’t realise those were over the knee boots though – with the creases and my display it made it look like a skinny with ankle boots.

          • Sly

The boots grip the leg like leggings, They aren’t structured like typical boots, I find them cool.

    • Constant Reader

I feel a little happier now, knowing that this level of perfection can be achieved on Earth.

    • Sofia

I can’t think of any other actress that could wear this better then Cate. Absolutely regal. All she’s missing is the crown.

    • Meri

      Wow. Just- wow.

    • PastryGoddess

      *bows down*

      WERQ for sure!

    • SugarSnap108

    • MaggieMae

      Oh COME. ON.

    • Cynica

    • ThaliaMenninger

    • Clydette Wantland

It doesn’t get better than that! Snaps all around.

    • e jerry powell

I prefer the full-length, obvs, but that’s because I don’t like the shorter dress over leggings.

    • Wink

Holy Mother of God! Phe. Nom. E. Nal.

    • AnnaleighBelle

How much exfoliation does it take to get skin like that?

    • Bad Idea Jeans

How is there not A SINGLE WRINKLE IN THAT DRESS? Sweet jesus. That runway model SHOULD be ashamed. As should everyone involved in the runway show.

    • BLauD

Ohhhh lawsy. I mean, that is no mere mortal.

    • gloriana232

OMG. On the runway, it looks like a bad Star Trek costume. On her … it’s killing me. I’m dead. Just DEAD.

    • Jacob Bowen

Her expression in that last photo is TOTALLY an “EAT IT!”

    • Tuneful54

She and Cumberbatch are Bringing. Back. Elegance. Swoon. Where’s his pic? All of this is too much. I have smelling salts at the ready.

    • greymain

      waaaaaaaaaaay down. o.m.g.

    • Lucinda Head

    • Gatto Nero

This may be the most glorious vision ever to grace these pages.

    • random_poster

      Luminous and drop-dead gorgeous!

    • LeelaST

    • smh4748

      Wow. She’s ethereal in this.

The contrast with the model couldn’t be more striking, and your description of it was perfect. :)

    • Trickytrisha

There are not enough superlatives in the dictionary to describe the magnificence of Cate in this dress. Everything is spot-on perfect. TLo might as well retire the WERQ category ’cause no one will ever come close to this again.

    • Man Dala

      She’s a vision.

    • macwell

      Flawless. Almost goddess like…..

    • kategs

she looks luminous and I must have those girandole earrings!

      WOW!!!!!!!! She’s radiant!

    • Tess Tea

    • Judih1

Flawless. How does she manage to not get any smudges on her despite being on a dirt road?

    • Willis Kliefoth

my comment will say nothing that everyone else’s has not said but holy shit. you have to say something. yesssss.

    • livesarah

It would be perfect, except for what those earrings are doing to her poor ear lobes. Otherwise, flawless.

    • Zombiepeep

That is some Lothlorien realness right there….

      LUV. HUH.

    • Michelle Lim

      Bow down! Sheer perfection.

    • ladybane

This woman has carried children within her. She’s nearing 50. She is just a column of icy perfect sophistication with no “hip-fat” and she makes me kvetch. Ugh.

    • SuzyQuzey

PERFECTION. Wow. I never like one-shouldered gowns, but she makes this look incredible. A+

    • JynxTheCat

Only Royals would make celebrities walk in the frikkin gravel LOL Kinda love and hate that equally. She looks ridiculously lovely here.

    • Columbinia

She somehow looks naked and clothed at the same time. She radiates an otherworldly glow when she looks in the camera.
