Pairs Division: Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield at “The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ London Premiere

Posted on April 11, 2014

Darlings, as we wait for our plane to whisk us away from the magical land known as Chicago and a mini-tour packed full of smiling Bitter Kittens (so that we can go home and deal with the REALLY bitter kittens who’ve been  waiting for us to feed them the canned food that Cat God intended them to have, clean their litter boxes and get them back up to speed on their Recommended Daily Allowance of snuggling time), we offer you the following Pretty People in Expensive Clothing post to start off your day.

Emma-Stone-Andrew-Garfield-Spiderman-London-Premiere-Tom-Lorenzo-Site-TLO-1Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield attend the World Premiere of “The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ at Odeon Leicester Square in London. Emma Stone is wearing an Atelier Versace gown paired with David Webb jewelry and Andrew Garfield is wearing an Alexander McQueen suit.

We gave ourselves an easy one to kick off the day. Critiques? He should’ve shaved and we’re not sure if her lip color goes with that yellow, but other than that, we’ve got nothing. Well done, you crazy kids. You both look gorgeous.

Almost a personal best for her. Her style is always one of the more unlikeable from all the other young celebrities.

    • PlethoraofBooks

That shot of her hair in the wind coupled with her expression? “I’m a movie star bitch.”

      • RussellH88

It was odd to watch her in Easy A, because it seems like we don’t often get a chance to see a star being born, in a sense. Watching that movie was like seeing the emergence of someone who you just knew was going to be big.

        • PlethoraofBooks

Yes! She was absolutely captivating in that movie. Natural comedic chops that were on point. I want her to be in another movie with Stanley Tucci.

    • Jacob Bowen

She should have had a more red lipstick, but other than that…wow, she looks stunning. I can actually do with his bit of neck fuzz because I myself am sporting some on this lovely Friday.

      • 3boysful

I love this dress and couldn’t figure out what was bothering me–you are so right, it’s the lipstick shade.

        • largishbearishAtlish

that’s exactly what I thought (that or it was the almost smug facial expression), a shame- the dress is perfect (I agree, looks comfy too!), great color on her, great fit, etc). but the lipstick just does not work…

Anyone else getting a Harry Potterish vibe off of him?

      • Lilithcat

I can actually do with his bit of neck fuzz because I myself am sporting some

But are you on a red carpet this lovely Friday?

        • Jacob Bowen

Truth. But honestly, I HATE to shave THAT MUCH that even if I was on a red carpet I think I would probably be a victim of the neck beard…unless I actually paid someone to shave me (and I’m sure he has the money to do that). I take my original comment back, ANDREW, GO GET A NICE, HOT SHAVE AT A BARBER SHOP! It will be the BEST money you’ve spent in a while!

          • Lucía Gavello

Oh lazy men, try having to shave you legs, better yet, try having to WAX your legs! ;)

            • Jacob Bowen

Hahaha, well, if I am doing drag (not frequently) I have waxed, but my aversion to shaving isn’t so much the laziness it’s the always cutting myself and having razor burn for days. If my dad would have taught me to shave it would probably be a bit different, but seeing as he’s not so good at imparting knowledge without screaming it will never happen.

            • formerlyAnon

he’s not so good at imparting knowledge without screaming

Basically, why driver’s ed instructors exist – if only everyone could afford them!

(I recognize so many people I know in this that it made me laugh, despite the misery of those moments.)

            • Lucía Gavello

Ugh I HATE razor burns, I’m usually very careful but my poor bf seems to be unaware that he has an adam’s apple, he cuts himself all the time. And since his beard consists of 25 random hairs he is forced to shave it constantly or else he looks like Bieber when he tries to grow a mustache.

            • Jacob Bowen

Yeah I grow the PATCHIEST facial hair so once it grows a day or two I HAVE to shave otherwise I look ridiculous. But, luckily it has been filling in as of lately so I don’t feel as ridiculous now as I did 3 or 4 years ago, but it’s still bad.

            • demidaemon

I am in slightly in the same boat, as a friend in college actually
taught me to shave, because my father–who is around–never taught me
              anything of import. :(

            • Jacob Bowen

Yeah ironically my big freshman crush was the one who taught me too, but I was too distracted staring at his abs in the mirror to pay attention.

          • Lilithcat

Exactly! It’s not as if these guys have to shave themselves. They can afford a Bunter or a Jeeves!

            • Whever

All the high fives in the world for the Sayers reference. :)

            • Eclectic Mayhem

And a high five to you for appreciating a Sayers reference!

      • AnaRoW

I’m actually not so sure he’s got neck fuzz. In the closer pics, his chin and jaw are very fuzzy but his neck looks shaven.

        • Trent

Exactly. His neck is shaved perfectly. This is trimmed facial stubble, and IMO makes him look handsomer and more manly (a plus with a boyish face like his). J’approve.

    • Flavia Pantoja

She looks gorgeous. I mean, they look amazing. What a charming couple! Saying that, she does remind me of Michelle Williams and her iconic Oscar’s yellow dress…

      • sugarkane105

That’s one of the reasons why I think the slightly-pink lipstick works here – an all-out red would have been just another thing in common with Michelle’s look.

    • B_C_J

I think they look lovely together. However I am not loving the blousy effect in the bodice. It looks like she is carrying potatoes. On the other hand the color is terrific and her hair is perfection.

      • KES4K

The dress just looks a skosh big on her, doesn’t it? Like, it needs to be just *slightly* less blousy, and the waist needs to sit less than an inch higher…

    • http://attiresmind.blogspot.com/ Kiltdntiltd

Wouldn’t have pegged her for a Yellow wearing gal, but this color is PERFECT for her. Plus the fit is spot on.

      • kimmeister

Yeah, I think Jessica Chastain debunked my idea that fair redheads can’t do mustard with that magazine cover she had a while back.

    • Ginger

She looks stunning. Dial down that particular shape of lipstick one notch and I think it would be fabulous.

      • Janet B

It’s just a bit too much for her, but I want to give it a try.

    • Cyd Butler

Wish you didn’t have to leave so soon – it was wonderful to meet you both last evening! Next time cocktails – I insist! XO

    • Kent Roby

I give them both an easy A plus; well done.

      • Nikko Viquiera

I see what you did there :)

    • Judih1

Is she wearing extensions ? Her hair looks thicker than usual. Wish she had bolder jewelry. But other than that she looks good but Michelle Williams did it better

    • conniemd

I love the dress. I’m a total sucker for yellow. It goes great with her red hair and coloring.

    • titaness25

It’s such a weird little dress and I love it. ETA: And somehow it doesn’t make her boobs look droopy.

    • http://www.what-the-frock.com Dana F.

She looks amazing. I have a weakness for a bold yellow gown. It reminds me of Michelle Williams in Vera Wang at the 2006 Oscars, or Diane Kruger in Jason Wu at the SAGs in 2010. Flawless.

    • Sarah

Whut. I am a pale redhead, and I look like I have jaundice in yellow. She is magically delicious in it. No Fair. I will satisfy myself that she made a lippy faux pas, so I won’t burn with jealousy TOO much. He is looking great in that suit, despite the fact that he seems to have been the victim of a heinous hand injury, thus prompting him to hide his hideously deformed hands in his pockets.

      • lunchcoma

I’m also a redhead, and I wouldn’t even think to pick up something in that shade. It’s like she’s superhuman or something.

        • alyce1213

Me too. She does have superpowers. I too won’t even look at clothes that color. Also mustard.

        • kimmeister

          She and Jessica Chastain!

      • demidaemon

I definitely think the texture of the fabric is helping in her fabulousness.

    • jw_ny

I’m not sure that yellow flatters her skin…as well as the shade of lipstick with the dress. Her necklace looks awkward too. Dress itself is ok…no great shakes though.

His tie…snug it up. Please! It bugs the snot out of me…

    • MilaXX

I like her lip color. My only quibble is he needs a shave. Otherwise this is really good. I’d give them 9/10

    • RussellH88

Is it odd that the first thing I thought was “That dress looks comfortable?”

I’m not saying that it’s a bad thing, I think it looks great in an effortless glam way. But It looks kinda comfy.

      • Kayceed

Yes, nothing fussy, tight, awkward, pulling, etc. here. It just flows.

      • marlie

It’s a gorgeous dress, AND one where she doesn’t have to be sucking it all in the whole time.

    • Aurora Leigh

My first impression of that dress is that it looks better far away than close up. Or in the timeless words of Clueless, it’s a total Money.

      • ballerinawithagun

That should be Monet, maybe your auto correct did that.

        • Aurora Leigh

          You’re right! Damn auto-correct!

    • sienna elm

In his solo pic he could be doing the Time Warp! ♪♫♪ “And a step to the riiii-iii-iiight” ♪♫♪

      • portlandmermaid

I thought he was casually starting a round of hokey pokey.

    • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

A beautiful look for Emma and the lipstick doesn’t bother me one bit. I’m so bloody tired of seeing “why didn’t he shave?” and “I hate the neckbeard” type comments for guys nowadays that I’m starting, sadly, to just tune out the whole facial stubble thing. But really: he should have shaved. Despite that: the rare Double WERQ award to them from me.

    • joything

Oh my, that dress, YUM. And having come of age in the 1980s, glamorizing the shoulder pads just makes me laugh and laugh.

    • Lilithcat

Hard to believe that’s a Versace! It’s gorgeous, and I love it on her.

      • Candigirl1968

I, too, did a double take when I saw that.

    • Brittany

Gorgeous. Serving up old Hollywood glam. Bravo.

    • Nancer

They look great, but maybe the hem on her dress could have been adjusted just slightly?

    • ScarlettHarlot

She looks stunning, so much that I had to work to pull my eyes away from her to check out Andrew.

    • Jacqueline Wessel

Emma, this is so much better than that gray plaid suit from the other day. That yellow looks great on you and I love your hair.

    • decormaven

She is serving up movie star glamour and I love it! He looks good, but could use a few pointers on improving his RC posing.

    • SugarSnap108

She looks amazing. I’m surprised by how much I love that dress, because it’s not a fave color. But she is really pulling it off.

    • annrr

I, for one, hate that dress. Tank top and shoulder pads is not edgy its awkward, and I hate the color.

    • CT14

I don’t like the color of the dress, but she looks fab and so much better than in the 80s working girl jacket of shame from yesterday.

    • http://heartprintandstyle.com/ Vivi N

In the 5th photo, is Andrew attempting to do the stanky leg?

      • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

OK, I have to ask. What is stanky leg, lol?

    • Danielle

Werqing old Hollywood glamour, miss Stone. I dig.

    • Judy_S

Pretty pretty people. I think I like that dress best of any Versace object I have ever seen.

    • marlie

Emma looks beautiful. That’s a gorgeous shade of yellow for her, I think her hair and makeup are stunning, and the dress is deceptively simple and elegant.

Andrew looks like he borrowed his dad’s suit. It’s a nice suit, but it seems way too big on him in the shoulders (in some of the photos).

    • Richard Banger

She looks thin. Like… I’m concerned. She doesn’t look healthy. Does anyone else see that?

    • ChelseaNH

Interesting that she’s pulling off a version of old Hollywood glamour because I really think she’s more of a modern.

    • holla

what a ray of sunshine they are.

    • Chuck Barthelme

Wow. She looks amazing. The old hollywood dress really suits her. And I feel like for once they got the hair right for the rest of the look. Pretty amazing. His suit looks good too, though there’s no real wow factor. It’s adequate, and fits him well at least.

    • ashtangajunkie

I don’t get him. I mean, I can see that he’s cute and that he has a fantastic head of hair, but it’s always wah-wah for me with him. She looks sunny and delightful.

      • boweryboy

Same here. A lot of the time I feel like I should find these guys attractive. I mean, everything is there. It’s nicely presented but they don’t move my pants. Although, my taste in men is so esoteric that sometimes even I don’t get it.

        • formerlyAnon

Speaking for myself, I prefer idiosyncratic to esoteric. ;-)

        • ashtangajunkie

I’m lukewarm about most, but there are a few (hello, Gosling) that I find so attractive that I can barely stand to watch their films. But all of my faves are very different from each other.

        • demidaemon

I actually do find him quite attractive, because I like the tall skinny types with large noses. Don’t know why, just do. But I do have pretty wildly varying tastes as well.

    • Tracy_Flick

Her makeup looks pretty, and she’s working that slightly awkward dress for all its worth. I think he’s going for “scruffy-sexy” with the stubble, but he’s landing on “dorm room with a month of pizza boxes and cheap beer cans.”

    • CeeQ

This is pretty good but that wave in his hair in one of the pics was distracting, also the pouffy bit in her dress would distract me if I wore that dress. But otherwise, great!

    • boweryboy

The yellow dress looks FAB-U-LOUS on her, but the exposed bejeweled shoulder pads takes it immediately to TackyTown. What the hell Versace?

With him, as always, it’s Attack of the Big Hair. Run for your life!

    • Monabel

Crazy shoulder pads look like an afterthought.

    • lunchcoma

I never would have thought a redhead could wear yellow, but Emma proves me wrong.

    • formerlyAnon

That’s a fantastic dress. He’s probably the first movie superhero, I remember, ever, to fully capture the geeky dweeb aspects of his “civilian” identity.

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

He’s OK, but EMMA — WERQ!!!

    • onefifteen

I like everything about her look but the color of the dress. It just doesn’t work with her skin tone. Not sure if it needs to be a different shade of yellow or a different color entirely. The hair, makeup and silhouette are absolutely stunning, though.

    • dschubba

This is a well-executed impersonation of Michelle WIlliams at the ’05 (06?) Oscars.

    • alyce1213

She’s killing it. A real STAH. This dress is remarkably retrained and elegant for Versace.

    • kim bunchalastnames

that DRESS. it’s freaking GORGEOUS on her.

    • traceyishere

His suit is ill-fitting on him but she looks great! Word to Men – if the collar of your suit jacket sticks up then it’s the wrong suit for you.

    • Celticharpist

Her hair is divine. I am just dying with jealousy.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

His hair is a little too swooopy and her dress is a little too blousey, but the overall impression is MOVIE STAH so I can’t complain all that much.

    • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

      Finally. Some Katharine Hepburn realness.

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

…Emma Stone controls the wind, doesn’t she?

    • gloriana232

Holy crap, Emma Stone looks amazing. This gorgeous column of yellow. Flowy yet not baggy.

    • susu

She looks amazing head to toe. LOVE the dress… I wouldn’t have thought yellow would be her color, but this is sublime.

    • berkeleygirl

I think the lip color works fine with the yellow. After all, it is Spring…

    • snarkykitten

Nope, do not understand skinny bitches wearing clothes that make them look baggy and weird. Show off that God and your personal trainer gave you.

    • OffToSeeHim

That dress is just SO pretty. Every time I go back to the picture, I find something *else* I like about it! You know something? It looks like something Laura would have made, back in the day.

    • colorjunky

She looks fantastic, maybe a lipstick with a bit more yellow in it, so it goes to orange. Or wait, something more on the purple end of the spectrum, (add some blue to that red) to compliment the yellow, that’s the ticket.

    • amaranth16

Her hair in that last picture! Siiiggghhhhh…

    • Sophie

Love the dress, but what’s happening at the shoulders? It looks great on her anyway.

    • Cindy Bartlett Zigler

yellow is a hard colour for redheads, but she looks amazing in this. he’s not too bad either, but is he allergic to razors? loathe the scruff!
