This makes me want to eat an entire baguette (But what doesn’t?)

She looks amazing, I love her.

  • Random Compliments

    Not digging this at all.

    • Sarah

I agree 100%. The make-up plus the blank jumping face make her look a little…dumb. I think it’s the slack mouth; I just don’t see any fire. As for the clothes…I love the first dress, am not crazy about the hemline on the second, question who besides a model can pull off the sheer panels on the third, and absolutely adore the skirt but not the white smock-like top on the fourth. That last skirt is every fashion fantasy I’ve ever had – but paired with much better shoes and a different top.

      • SugarSnap108

The combo of jumping and vacant, open-mouth starting is really, really weird.

It’s too bad, because I actually love some of the clothes, and she’s gorgeous.

        • deelup

This is like an Americas Next Top Model episode and she might’ve been sent home for those expressions.

          • demidaemon

Exactly. These remind me of all the terrible jumping pics I’ve seen over the years on ANTM.

          • Random Compliments

            NAILED IT.

        • uprightcitizen

Yeah. These silhouettes are classic Dior. They don’t need this gimmicky photography and in fact, they suffer for it. The jumping in the air, hair in flight, toes clenched, but with the arms (and handbag) rigidly by her sides doesn’t look natural or fun, so what’s the point?

    • Yeah. I’m like “You’re jumping around in Dior clothes, darling — do you think you could smile a little?” The jumping around pic almost demands a smile, even if you’re French.

  • DTLAFamilies

She’s beautiful but the makeup makes her look washed out and why the jumping in Every. Single. Picture. #diorhate

    • Nicole C

Yes, jumping in one = whimsical. Jumping in every one = new director

      • decormaven

“I Jumped For Joy With My Dior Handbag.”

        • bitchybitchybitchy

In my Maidenform by Dior bra, no doubt

  • Why can’t regular Dior be more ‘Lady’? I love this.

    • rage_on_the_page

  • @Biting Panda

Fun and pretty. I’ll take it.

  • marlie

So, so, so pretty. I know she’s selling the bags, but she’s working the clothes just as well. Lovely.

  • Jete as fashion pose? Not convinced. But I do like the first dress, with the scissor pleat skirt…..such a pushover for wonderful pleats. The last two dresses look like someone is trying to convince Dior to outfit the bowling team.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

I too love that kind of pleating.

  • oatmealpie

This makes me want to get a black mani/pedi.

  • BlairBear

Like the first dress and would like the last dress without the blue bit. Why must Raf get it so wrong. He did decent work at Jil Sander. But these photos infantalize a gorgeous and competent woman in a way I find distressing

  • Noah

She might be the only woman on earth who could make this concept not look stupid by photo 3.

    • kirkyo

Agreed. I think it’s fun and sexy.

  • bitchybitchybitchy

I do love that first dress.

  • random_poster

I find the jumping too distracting. She’s such a beautiful woman, and this makes her look silly. I love that bag in the last two photos, and that last dress is also quite pretty for something that appears to be made out of accordian-folded tissue paper.

  • clatie

To me, the point of jumping is to be playful or joyful. This is sad jumping. What is the point of that?

    • wisdomy

Thank you, that was perfectly stated.

      • Clash D

It begs question: Will JLaw be sad jumping as well for the US market?
        If so, can’t wait.

  • Madam Von Sassypants

This just feels like the mid-range results of a RPDR photo challenge.

    • demidaemon

Or the bottom two of an ANTM photo shoot.

      • Kitten Mittons

“I only have one more picture in my hands. And the girl who will still be in the running towards becoming America’s Next. Top. Model. is……….Genn. I’m sorry Marion, but I can see up your nostrils, and you didn’t smize once. Go back to your cage.”

        • demidaemon

HA! Is Genn from Be ME or Do Me and ANTM is her first step to stardom?

          • Kitten Mittons

            Yes indeed 😉

  • Cortney Dean

I want to be her. That is all.

  • Evan

They really do a good job in their advertisements at making the clothes look better than actually are. But then again, these pre-fall pieces look better than the regular fall pieces.

  • This is how I imagine her dressing – bouncing in the air and landing in designer finery.

Do not burst my daydream, I need this today.

  • I want each of these outfits. I also want to be French.

  • Betsy

She’s so beautiful but this spread is so dumb. She looks vacant and awkward, which I never thought possible.

  • colleenjanel

I’m waiting for Tyra and one of the Jays to pop out to remind the contestant to extend her neck and smize.

    • Christina

Every time I see a jumping shot, I think of America’s Next Top Model. Without fail.

      • demidaemon

You are not alone in these thoughts.

      • Danielle

Super happy to see I’m not the only one.

  • JauntyJohn

ONE jumping shot would have been sensational.
All jumping shots… not so much.
Beautiful clothes and I really love those bags — especially the one with the…lily?

But this must be an homage to that photographer who had everyone jump… who was that again…? Any BK know?

    • another_laura

Philippe Halsman, I think. Tried to send a link but didn’t get through. Took famous pics of movie stars and other celebs, Dali and of Richard Nixon, of all people.

  • joything

    That’s some major ballet-hop there.

  • schadenfreudelicious

For some reason she reminds me of a brunette Chloe alter…Fifi Le Cavalier perhaps….

  • MilaXX

Love the dresses, would like to have the floral bag for the summer.

  • butterflysunita

Marion Cotillard is just so perfect for Dior.

  • hughman

“I must return to my people now.”

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

The clothes are pretty and she’s incredible. But I think any photog who tries to make Marion Cotillard look like an empty-headed clothes mannequin should be taken out back and flogged.

  • Skippymom1

The first shot of her in the air intrigued me, especially with that dress.
The rest of the photos? Plant Marion’s beautiful feet on the floor. I don’t even mind if they are shoe-less. LAND the woman already.

  • another_laura

It could be prettier except for the rigid requirement of holding the bag directly in front of the clothes. geez.

  • calimon

I don’t like the way her mouth hangs open.

  • and while leaping in the air barefoot, always bring a handbag, non?

  • So elegant, I could kill myself.

  • Marcella Cypher

All I can hear when I see these is the beginning theme from the George Lopez Show….

  • msdamselfly

She’s head and shoulders above the others in taste

  • BrianaJC

she definitely can’t give face as well while flying for the air. the pictures are beautiful, though, even if they remind me of early antm challenges.

  • Jacob Bowen

Ironically I read an article about what not to ask French people when in France and one of the questions was to take a photo of yourself, AS YOU JUMP. HYPOCRISY….well at least Marion looks freakin FABULOUS.

  • jif

Only works if the theme (and the soundtrack) for this shoot was “Pretty Vacant.” And here I thought it was impossible to take a bad photo of Cotillard.

  • quiltrx

I’m going to need ALL the bags!
And this is proof, again, that she gets all the tolerable/pretty Diors and they leave Jennifer to dumpster dive.

  • She looks like a levitating corpse. Why is her hair looking weightless but none of that motion is reflected in the garments. Unsettling and unpleasant effect, all-told.

  • Kate4queen

    I like the bags!

  • BeeBeauNYC

    Bien sur.

  • Floors are so last season.

  • Cheryl

I love it all. Yes, even the jumping.

  • mrspotts66

    love this!

  • JauntyJohn

    That’s it!
    Thank you all!

  • Sophie

Not sure about her expression in those pictures, but I like the rest. It’s pretty.

    • Nancer

Her expression is pretty serious for such lighthearted shots. It’s like they said, we want you to jump on this trampoline, but don’t look like you are enjoying it!

      • Sophie

“You may jump on this trampoline, but stay professional.”

  • SparkleNeely

She’s the best! I feel lighthearted just looking at these photos.

  • FridaStaire

Oui! oui! Oui! all the way home

  • Reine Bron

I will gladly take the bags

  • Judy_S

Is she jumping or hanging on a hook on the wall and pointing her toes? The clothes look good but she looks a bit strained.

    • Carleenml

      jinx. yes.

  • Carleenml

It doesn’t make me think of jumping. It makes me think of a hanging.

  • V No Privacy

Her foot in the first shot looks awful and freaky. Like a mannequin’s foot. The rest is fine. I would imagine giving face while jumping in the air and holding a purse is really hard so I’ll give her a pass on the posing. I long for every purse and the clothes except for the skirt (dress?) in the second shot.

  • My hair used to do that. Love the purses.

  • MartyBellerMask

The woman is a PRO. The bags are facing the camera and not flopping around. And she’s managing to look sophisticated while jumping on a trampoline. KUDOS.

  • Kent Roby

Cotillard + Lady Dior makes me happy! But, like other BKs, my mind then goes to ANTM, and then, unfortunately, to Extra-Head Vivacious and her disastrous falling photos this season on Ru (which makes me giggle).

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

  • B_C_J

The first photo is a work of art.

  • lizajane1776

Oy, the photoshop! The two shoulders on the first picture! The neck extension on the third! (MAYBE it is optical illusion, but it isn’t a good one.)
Like the clothes, mostly. Burgandy is my favorite color (today!)

  • suzq

It’s a great idea overdone, however, Marion really pulls it off. The middle two dresses didn’t really need this treatment, however.

  • LeelaST

Ludicrous. Dislike her to begin with, but this tortured faux weightlessness does nothing for either her or the clothes.

  • AzSportsGirl

The photoshop on her left foot in the top photo is scary!

    • housefulofboys

Ok, I was JUST NOW going to mention that it looked like they forgot to photoshop her left great toenail back in after doing whatever PS black magic on her feet. Now I can’t unsee it when I look at the picture.

On another note, I love the pink and black dress; it would look fabulous on me, I just know it would.

  • Imasewsure

Flying pretty of the day… works best with the flow-y skirts of course but nice to see some classics from a classic designer (and MC too who I love)

  • teensmom99

Okay, now I think Dior is really messing with us. You see I’ve thought the last few collections looked like Barbie clothes from the 50s and now I feel like these are the Barbie clothes from the late 50s early 60s.

  • If they were going to tell her to jump like a ballerina, they shouldn’t have given her “I don’t give a fuck” hair. Maybe it’s just from years of dance instructors bitching to keep one’s hair out of one’s face, but I just keep imagining just off-panel is the broken elastic from her hair which has rebelled and sprung free.

Also, the second picture bugs me because the slight slump of her shoulders is not ballet perfect whereas every other shot is more graceful.

    I dunno. Not enthralled.

  • Emmyllou

Like her, like the clothes, like the ‘tude. Je suis heureuse.

  • pugluv

  • JynxTheCat

Her face looks NOT GOOD. Like RDR challenge lost.

  • MaggieMae

I want that turtleneck thingie top in the third pic.

  • Kelly

I really like this. Fun and arty and unusual, and the clothes are attractive (well, except for the rubber rain boats, er, shoes, in the last shot, and I don’t think the skirt in Pic #2 would look very good in real life.) It all looks very Dior to me, though — chic and French and with a nice nod to the New Look.

  • Ann VerWiebe

    Those are lovely!

  • SO PRETTY! Everything.

  • RuthGo

I really want the last outfit.
