Yeah, that’s about right. It’s ridiculously charming how happy she looks here. Then again, how could she not look happy in that outfit? It’s like happiness in clothing form. But are we crazy for thinking those shoes don’t really go?

I don’t think the shoes go, but I like them anyway. I guess I don’t mind as much because THAT SMILE! I love it when stars actually look happy about the life they live!

      • lundibleu

Yes, she looks so pleased and happy – clearly not a forced smile. Also I’m having real trouble figuring out how tall she is these days.

      • Lucía Gavello

I agree about the shoes, but they are so pretty I understand how one would have a hard time deciding not to wear them. I want this whole outfit in my closet immediately.

        • sojourneryouth

Yes, they aren’t the best shoes to go with the outfit, but I think she makes them work with the overall exuberance of the outfit. I definitely want to be her right now instead of sitting in my office!

    • PastryGoddess

No you’re not crazy about those shoes. However, I would like to talk about that coat; and how I would cut several bitches for it to be mine

    • Danielle

      Bag porn!!

      • @Biting Panda

        Fight to the death?

        • gabbilevy

How polite of you to ask!

        • marlie

I’ll steal the bag from under your noses while you’re all fighting over it.

        • Danielle

Put ‘em up, put’ em up! *cowardly lion voice*

      • alyce1213

I like the size — NOT enormous. Not that the enormous bags of late haven’t been beautiful, they’ve all been so enormous.

    • sugarkane105

This is the best I’ve seen her look in quite some time – it seems so HER. Plus, she’s wearing makeup!!

      • MilaXX

Even better she’s wearing the right makeup.

        • sojourneryouth

Yep. I am VERY happy she doesn’t look as shiny as she usually does. As a woman in her thirties who still needs to break out the Clearasil on occasion due to oil glands who think they are still 15 years old, I do sympathize, but it isn’t a good look.

    • alyce1213

I like the shoes with this! Unexpected and really pretty. I love her in this, it’s a perfect look for her.
Scowling, sour, dour, and vacant-eyed lady stars: stop it.

    • hughman

She’s very “To Sir With Love”.

But how do you thank someone who has taken you from crayons to perfume?
It isn’t easy, but I’ll try!

      • decormaven

        Aww!! Lulu, bless her.

    • Sara__B

I can almost hear Pharrell William’s “Happy” playing in the background.

      • KingCrazy

        That song makes me stabby.

        • @Biting Panda

Says the nun flipping the bird. : )

          • KingCrazy

            Jessica Lange!

            • @Biting Panda

              I know! : )

    • funwithpurses

JBF hair on a 15-year-old? Hm. (mayhap explains the smile)

      • MilaXX

        pretty sure that’s the wind.

      • jw_ny

        sorry…but that’s kind of inappropriate.

    • Courtenay P

      DAT COAT DOE

    • DesertDweller79

Good for her! I love it when the celebs look happy. Damn right, TLo. She’s 15 and in Paris for a major fashion show. She SHOULD look happy!

Also, her coat and outfit are fabulous! No, the shoes don’t really go, but whatever. At least they aren’t boring.

    • cocohall

The Pharrell song Happy just started playing in my head when I looked at these photos. Cute cute cute. I have 15 year old twin daughters. One is jeans and sweatshirts all the time, but the other one would LOVE to have this look in her closet.

    • Sarah

So glad the tanning booth booster community hasn’t gotten to her. Love her pretty pale skin, which looks divine with the pastels.

    • Griffinqueen

      Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!

    • another_laura

You’re not wrong about the shoes. It’s the messy floral print with those totally Easter egg-y houndstooths. Although her shoe choices have typically been gag-worthy, these are a little old for a 15-year-old. Sheesh, is she really only 15?

ETA she looks utterly adorable notwithstanding the shoes.

      • kimmeister

I’d be ok with the skirt in combination with the shoes, but the mustard houndstooth top is the part that doesn’t go for me.

    • nannypoo

She looks adorable. I love the outfit and the happy face. She is a girl who benefits from just a little makeup, and here it’s just right.

    • MilaXX

Before Lupita there was Elle and her clod hopper clunky footwear. These shoes aren’t perfect but I don’t mind them here. In fact I think this is a perfect look for a 15 year old lady celeb. Can we also offer praise to whoever did her face? Clean, but not red or shiny. Nope, the more I look at this, the more I think this is an atta girl for Elle.

      • demidaemon

        I’m with you, Mila.

      • CT14

I usually want a stronger lip, especially with someone so pale in the first place, but she just looks perfect here, doesn’t she? The pale lip stops me for a second, and then I don’t want to quibble. I even like her shoes.

It’s the smile, isn’t it? The pure unadulterated joy on a teen’s face. Can’t bottle it or sell it.

        • MilaXX

The pale lip works because she has youth on her side. These grown folks still need to find some color.

    • jw_ny

Sure the shoes don’t go, but the colors kind of do. You know she’ thinks they’re fab! The entire outfit is kinda kicky too.

    • @Biting Panda

      So very Brady.

      • Sarah

Thank goodness that doesn’t apply to the shoes. I’m pretty sure Elle’s previous clunky footwear would be more in keeping with the Brady aesthetic.

        • demidaemon

I am glad she chose something with a little sleekness to it, for once.

          • @Biting Panda

Kept it on barely just this side of costume.

          • marlie

I usually hate her shoe choices, but I wouldn’t have had a problem with them for this outfit.

            • demidaemon

I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree.

    • JauntyJohn

      LOVE everything here.
Except the hair. Then I remember that she’s 15, and I am okay with the hair.

      • what not

Her hair looks like it hurts. Knock it back a shade, poor thing! Otherwise she looks lovely indeed.

    • Imasewsure

Those shoes do not go… love the rest of it though

    • MightyMarshal

      Cher Horowitz, yall.

    • demidaemon

I kind of love the shoes, even with this outfit. They just hit the right note for her age and event, and the outfit is adorable too.

    • Melissa Bumbs Grant

Sigh, I had that skin once long ago. So pretty

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

But nothing says “young American girl in Paris on her way to a fashion show in a limo” like those shoes. They add a break to the Cher Horowitz effect.

      • Sarah

Totally. Cher would have had white shiny MJ’s with huge rectangular heels. These are Spring In Paris shoes, and I dig ‘em.

    • enchanted216

Are there no other hotels in Paris? ::weird::

      • alyce1213

The fashion houses probably booked rooms at various hotels for fashion week — for guests at the show, dignitaries. Miu-Miu picked The Bristol, I guess. I wouldn’t complain.

    • Qitkat

I love the contrast of the shoes. Great choice.
If I were a 15 year old girl, this would be pinned on my wall. Adorable.

    • majorbedhead

That’s adorable, from head to toe. The shoes don’t quite go, but they’re cute, so I give it a pass.

That coat is to die for.

    • Angel Ratliff

Wait… she’s only 15? Still? I feel like she’s been in the public for way longer than that. Weird.

      • IMNAngryLiberal

I think she was only 3 or 4 when she did the Door In The Floor, so she already has over a decade in the public eye … and stayed pretty level-headed about it from all accounts.

    • Snailstsichr

      The charm bracelet is adorable!

    • Heather

I would like to own everything she is wearing. Maybe not pair all of them together, but I want to own them ALL.

    • Trickytrisha

Don’t you just wanna pinch those cheeks and bring her home for tea? Such a cutie, and so much fashion sense at a tender age. She’s radiant here.

      • alyce1213

Yes, either real tea or make-believe tea with her and dolls.

    • formerlyAnon

I hope she can go to school or intern somewhere or for a year or four if she quits having moments like these.

    • Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

No, and I’m glad you said it. I was wondering the same thing. Though they are adorable, as is the outfit.

    • brown-eyed girl

Love the shoes and her smile.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

      Now, THAT is her look.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

The shoes don’t really go with the rest of the outfit, which is indeed charming and so springlike. Perfect for a 15 year old in Paris.

    • decormaven

Talk about happiness- it’s radiating from her. Love it all- even the shoes- just because she’s so danged happy.

    • Pennymac

So refreshing! Like a breath of fresh air. I love those shoes, too.

    • Little_Olive

They don’t go perfectly, by they don’t clash all that much either. You go, Elle.

    • Willis Kliefoth

shoes are odd…but they go. Quirky and joyful without overdoing the twee.

    • KT

This is so adorable! She looks great. But no, you’re not crazy – the shoes are off for sure.

    • RuthGo

Everything above the shoes is so cute and so 15 year old Hollywood starlet perfect, I’m willing to forgive her the shoes, which are hella cute but just don’t go with this outfit.

    • enchanted216

I like the shoes with this. Very creative :)

    • YoungSally

Is everyone at this hotel? Or is it like a clown car that all the celebrities come out of.

    • jilly_d

I need dis. OH GOD I NEEEEED DIS!

    • Blair Sylvester

she should have this outfit made in ten different color variations. It is perfect on her .

    • Mia Moreno

I love it! From head to ankle. The shoes are cute but they don’t go.. I love the barrette in her super-blond hair, so charming!

    • quiltrx

      So cute!

    • uprightcitizen

I think the shoes actually go … if you’re 15. If you’re 35, they don’t go, and you look like you were drunk when you got dressed. I love how her hair is a wee bit of a teased pouf in the back, plus the little barrette. The hair takes these hip clothes and places her square in that 60s London vibe from “Too Sir with Love” or “Georgie Girl”, without looking costumey. Just adorable. Good for her.

      • kimmeister

The barrette is adorable on her.

    • UsedtobeEP

Shoes are the best part. Flowers in Paris. It’s the yellow and purple I don’t care for so much.

    • lynnlee

I like the floral shoes with all those pastel checks. She looks like spring personified. Very pretty and youthful.

    • sarahmichelef

Of the three versions of that coat that we’ve seen (on Elle, Lupita, and Lupita’s handler), I like the multicolored one the best BY FAR. WANT.

    • GeoDiva

Love the shoes, but she’s too young for them. Please take them off and have the bellman take them to Lupita’s room.

    • Mona_Visa

I love the shoes! I encourage the shoes. I adore the shoes, I applaud the shoes.

In years to come, after she’s been beaten down by critics— and god-knows-what-else— she’ll be frightened and cowed into wearing black and beige and conservative sad shoes. But for now, in her spirit and beauty, let those shoes sing. They are a licking-the-cookie-dough moment in what will prove to be a terrifyingly brief spoonful of youth. Fragile innocence, en-shoeified, let it glide and soar and fly.

Let’s not beat down the shoes. Fuck good taste. Her shoes make me happy.

    • http://www.momforless.com/ Crystal

I pink puffy heart love this look. I want it in my closet, even the shoes that don’t go.

    • elemspbee

      love that outfit!

    • marlie

I seriously love her outfit. I think she looks positively adorable, and she looks happy as can be. The top and skirt totally suit her, and that coat is in the same family as the one I want to steal from Lupita. The shoes are gorgeous, but this might have actually been the right time to deploy the chunky shoes that she likes so much. Still, I think she looks great.

    • http://medium.com/@directordanic Danielle Colman

Best her hair has looked in a while – she and Dakota both have very fine hair that tends a bit limp, so it’s nice to see it with a little bounce and life to it.

    • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

She’s really starting to bring her look together. I adore the shoes and want them on my feet immediately. Heck, I’ll take everything but the top and skirt (dress?)

    • Cassidy Olsen

I am so obsessed with her, she’s adorable. I love the outfit and the clip in her bleached hair. The shoes don’t really go but they seem minor.

    • tonibaloney

Saw this outfit earlier, and was hoping you’d feature it. I agree on the shoes, but the overall effect is so fabulous I’m willing to overlook it. Her hair looks gorgeous, too!

    • Alloy Jane

The shoes are a little too “lady” but I’ll take ‘em over her usual footwear. She looks super cute, I love it! I’d beat her up for that beautiful coat, but I’ve never been very good at removing blood stains from fabric.

      • PastryGoddess

I’m a big fan of the five point palm exploding heart technique

        • Alloy Jane

Well I don’t think I’d go so far as killing her for that coat. I might have to work on my haymaker though.

    • FridaStaire

Gorgeous, but I so wish she was wearing those white Miu Miu books with the flowers and/or cats on them….you know the ones.

    • FridaStaire

      Umm, I meant ‘boots’ .

    • kmk05

The shoes don’t go. But she’s so gorgeous with that smile, and the little barrette is cute and age appropriate. Also, the coat and the outfit are to die for.

    • LilyVanessi

When I scrolled down, the first thing I thought was “why those shoes?” But she does look happy and everything else is so appropriate.

    • Jessica Freeman

Miu Miu has some killer jackets this year. She looks fantastic.

    • MarissaLG

I’d much prefer to see her in those chunky miu miu heels.

    • MoHub

I’d love those shoes in a ballet flat.

    • crash1212

Shoes are perfect with this as is her expression.

    • MaggieMae

Wait! No one told me! We were supposed to pack our bags and rush off to PARIS after the Oscars!? I’m in!

    • lobsterlen

Some other shoes would have looked better but its a quibble. I wish she had something on her legs. Though I maybe projecting because my legs are so freezing cold at the moment with this endless bitter cold winter.

    • DagnyReardon

      Springtime in Paris

    • KinoEye

No, the shoes don’t really go, but this outfit is just so cute and chic I can forgive. I feel like I shouldn’t like yellow and purple houndstooth together, but it looks marvelous. Perfect for a 15-year-old in Paris for Fashion Week.

My inner 15-year-old just awoke with a surge of jealousy, and also lots of feelings about how mom is like, totally unfair for not letting me go to the mall with Andrea.

    • fursa_saida

She looks ADORABLE, and in a direction I feel like I’ve never seen on her. Usually on the RC she seems to go for pretty off-center stuff (and I love that about her, though of course it doesn’t always work), but this is just straight-up cute. I never would have expected her to go so Candyland and I’m honestly surprised at how well it suits her. (Good surprise, that wasn’t meant as a backhanded thing.)

The shoes would go better if the colors were just a couple shades less saturated, but I think ultimately introducing that kind of chaotic pattern is the wrong call. Stripe or solid would have been better. But I can’t get too worked up about it.

    • stubbornthoughts

Me: “Hi, Coat. Come sit by me, I LOVE YOU.”
      Coat: “BYE.”

I love everything about this, even those crazy shoes. It doesn’t matter. She looks fantastic.

    • webslice33

      adorbs!

    • http://www.lippsisters.com/ Deborah Lipp

If I had those shoes, I’d wear them with every outfit, no matter how inappropriate.

    • GinnyThePainter

      Your move, Shipka.

    • Sam Smith

I think she is perfect in Miu Miu, the style of that line really fits her personality and style.

    • livesarah

I’m 30 and could care less about sitting front row at a fashion show, but I envy her that outfit. Gorgeous. I think the pattern and colour of the shoes is fine, but a flatter heel and rounded toe would be cuter and fit better with the rest of the outfit. A solid colour would have worked better, too.

    • peachy

nah shoes don’t really go with the dress; however, that smile makes everything go with everything!
