Naomi Watts in Altuzarra at the Decades of Glamour Event

Posted on February 26, 2014

We were mean to her yesterday – but we had a good excuse, darlings! Two words; Velcro and Dress. We’ll say no more.

But we always try to look for an improvement and something encouraging to say after we tell a ladystar she done fucked up on her style. So we’re happy to report that this dress is perfect for her:

Very simple, with some pops of rich color against a mostly black dress (she’s a blonde who works blacks very well), and no small amount of sex appeal.  We can’t sign off on that ticky-tacky necklace though, even though we’re sure it was foisted upon her and probably costs an obscene amount of money. We don’t care. Pink necklaces are too Barbie for words.

And why is her hair such a mess. Oh, Naomi. Will you ever get it all right at the same time? We hold out hope.

I love that dress! I am so disappointed that she didn’t comb her hair, though. 🙁

  • sugarkane105

Love it all, including the necklace. Just wish that dress came in my size, with the slit sewn up about another 8 inches.

  • susu

Needs different shoes and jewelry. Otherwise, she looks great (I don’t even mind the hair). Love the dress.

  • Latin Buddy

I don’t know how of all the thousands of dresses that walk down the runway each year in New York Fashion Week, these lady stars pick the most boring crap out there?!

  • Glam Dixie

I wish she had actually gotten a hair do, and I wish the dress was a couple of inches shorter and I don’t hate the necklace as much as you Uncles do. I really like the dress on her.

  • Love the necklace – I am a sucker for pink & green and I love necklaces that sit on the clavicle like that. Terrible makeup and hair though.

    • Evan

Yes, I think that necklace looks beautiful. I can’t believe the Uncles called it ticky-tacky. I’ll have to go sit over in the corner with you.

      • Sobaika

I think the actual style of the necklace is called tutti fruiti, funnily enough.

The necklace on its own, I love. Not on her though – something about the pinks playing off her makeup and coloring make it garish.

        • Evan

Haha “Tutti fruiti” Thanks for teaching me that. You learn something new every day!

        • 3boysful

I don’t know if it’s the necklace or the lip color, but I agree on the garish.

      • Heather

I will join the “I love the necklace” party. I am seriously lusting after it.

        • Constant Reader

Me too! That center emerald is GORGEOUS.

  • Eovaai

I will never understand the combination of glitzy dress and “just got out of bed” hair. It makes no sense to me.

  • ballerinawithagun

Red lining LOVE! I’m okay with her hair but that is the way I fix my own hair when I go out. Of course, I cant afford to have mine done.

  • @Biting Panda

Is she under publicist orders to only rock the JBF in the limo hair? But I do like the dress.

    • anotherkate

I think maybe she HAS always JBF’d in the limo, actually. That’s the narrative that makes me happiest, anyway…

  • decormaven

I’m not usually a fan of the chunky jewel necklace, but this works well with the simpleness of the gown. If her hair had been better styled, this could be WERQ-worthy.

  • MilaXX

I was going to complain about the necklace until I saw the backdrop.Since they’re likely a sponsor I guess she has no choice. I will complain about that hair though, cause that’s jacked up.

  • CB

Love the concept of the dress but wish it cut off at the knee–I feel like that length is awkward on both Naomi and the model.

  • SewingSiren

Perfect dress to show off eye popping gems.

  • All the Bulgari folks had to do was lend her something in all gold, or all diamonds, and you’d have a LOOK right there. You know they could do it. The red lining on that dress takes it into OMG wonderful territory…..I have a black velvet coat with a red satin lining (came from my grandmother) and I feel absolutely killer every time I wear it, so I understand why she has the “I’m a sexy kitten” look. But I agree with the other minions that the hair must. be. styled.

  • SierraDelta

I HATE the clasp on her bag, but then I hate anything snake-y.

    • kimmeister

Oh, is that what that is? I was seeing a stylized beetle.

      • SierraDelta

I hope you’re right — I can deal with scarabs way better than I can snakes.

        • Alyssa

IMO it looks like a snake…the green gems being the snake eyes. I would much prefer scarabs as well.

  • Gatto Nero

The pop of color in the lining really elevates this dress, which looks great on her. I’m even on board with the necklace (on her, and with this dress).
    Like the bag, too.
    Hair, not so much.

  • KT

She looks totally adorable and sexy all at once, and perfectly styled to boot. I actually quite like the necklace, and I think the lipstick, bag and shoes were all strong choices — I don’t even mind the hair. Maybe I’m just in a good mood today, but this is all working for me.

  • Noah

What in the hell is that hemline?

  • nannypoo

I love this dress. It’s fabulous. I don’t hate the necklace but I do hate the hair.

  • another_laura

I could swear that Bulgari piece was just in San Francisco in a museum event. Stunning.

  • marlie

This works! The dress and necklace look great. But that HAIR. Does she have a rule that one part of her look has to be so very wrong? Because it’s the hair, this time.

  • lunchcoma

Oh, that’s cute. Love the lining,

  • SugarSnap108

The dress is great, and such an improvement over the velcro number. But her head looks like it’s going to the corner store. At 2 a.m.

  • bertkeeter

looks beautiful, modern and at ease!

  • bitchybitchybitchy

Her hair is a mess ‘cuz she and Lief had quickie before the appearance….

    • Snailstsichr

Well, if she did, good for her!

      • bitchybitchybitchy

        I’ll drink to that !

  • cocohall

She is a very pretty woman that doesn’t seem to have sense of her own personal style. How do you go from the velcro number to this? They don’t seem remotely like they should be hanging in the same person’s closet (if they kept the clothes, of course). Which is to say, I don’t think she looks bad (this works better than the pink velcro) but she doesn’t look memorably like “Naomi Watts.” Call up Nicole sweetie and ask her how it works.

  • Cee Layton

I’d give my back teeth for that necklace. I love it with this dress.

  • Jacob Bowen

Is it just me or is the top a bit too tight? Or is that necessary since it’s strapless? I just feel like the side spillage in the first photo would indicate that it’s too tight.

  • CPK1

like the dress on her. Hair is highly dubious and makeup flat out yuck.

  • GillianHolroyd

LOVE this dress. Love the necklace and bag with it. Really, I am babbling, I love this look so much.

Hair, you let me down but oh god, if it were only possible to wear the same outfit twenty times because this look is for her.

  • God, I love that red lining.

  • livesarah

I think the necklace is perfect with the dress. I much prefer the entire outfit and styling to Kiernan Shipka’s WERQ-awarded Dior!

  • Bernadette

    That bag!

  • FrigidDiva

I think if this was a solid black dress without the pops of color, that necklace would have worked far better. They way it’s paired now, it just makes the necklace look cheap, which I’m sure it isn’t. Also, if she was going to wear that necklace, with the pink in the dress, she should have worn a different shade of lipstick. That color is making my eye twitch.

  • Clash D

I like this look on her. Very event appropriate.

  • melanie0866

I think she looks great, and I love the necklace.

  • Lilyana_F

Dress is not bad, but the combination of the shade of that lipstick and the pink necklace is making my eyes twitch.
