Kerry Washington will be appearing in a new staging of Whoopi Goldberg’s original one-woman show, The Whoopi Monologues starting next month and she took the opportunity of her visit to Late Night to chat about the show while wearing her favorite Christmas party dress. We made up that last part.

Okay, so this is something of a conundrum for us, because we absolutely LOATHE that sleeve length and we STRONGLY DISLIKE that green trim, and yet we think this is MOSTLY OKAY ON HER. We don’t know why we’re randomly capitalizing. The tinsel trim is genuinely awful and yet it provides the only visual interest the look has. It helps that it’s styled well, with sleek hair and almost no jewelry. You really don’t want to fight with the tinsel. It all works for her, but we say that begrudgingly.
