Who wants to look at Claire Foy modeling some fabulous outerwear? You do! Evidently! The star of the upcoming H is for Hawk is making the press rounds in New York, and because it’s cold as hell there right now, the lady’s got to bundle up. And because the lady in question is British, she has a natural born facility with choosing good outerwear. It’s Darwinism. The only bloodlines that survived that damp island were the ones who knew the value of a good coat.

It’s big and dark, but it still looks chic on her, largely because it’s accessorized well, although we suspect some of you will be experiencing eyelid twitches at the sight of that black bag with those brown boots. But the bag and the boots are both so fabulous that we can’t be mad about it. Our only suggestion would have been a bolder scarf, possibly even a classic Burberry plaid, which would have pulled the brown and black elements together. Or maybe a leopard print! Wouldn’t that be fun, Claire?

Yes, that would be fun. Love the boots, love the coat, hate the dress. It’s shapeless and stiff and the collar’s too high. She’s good at choosing outerwear, but her red carpet style has always been a little dicey.

ABOUT THE MOVIE:
When Helen’s beloved father passes away, she is knocked sideways by grief and loses herself in memories of their time birding and exploring the natural world together. She becomes obsessed with the idea of training her own goshawk, and so she brings the fearsome bird Mabel home to her life as a graduate fellow at Cambridge.
Helen fills the freezer with hawk food and turns off her phone, ready to embark on the long, strange business of trying to train this wildest of animals. But as she labours to tame Mabel, a grieving Helen undergoes an untaming of her own.
A record of a spiritual journey, H IS FOR HAWK is a story about memory and nature and how it might be possible to reconcile death with life and love.
