We’d like to report that Jennifer Lopez kicked off her Oscar campaign at the LA screening of Kiss of the Spiderwoman, but in all honesty, we can’t figure out the thinking here:

We seem to be entering a trend period where folks are ditching their tops and/or stepping out in trench coats. We can’t say that this delights us. There’s a certain chicness to this, but it seems like a really strange choice to kick off a film promotion, whether we’re talking prestige cinema or not. We’d have thought that J Lo would be approaching this promo with the same kind of aggressive glamour that she usually does — and in this instance, it would be the correct way to go. This sort of neutral-toned minimalism doesn’t suit her or the film she’s promoting. Don’t be afraid to get your mega-glam on, Jenny.
