Tracee Ellis Ross kept the style cool and large as she headed into the Today show to talk about her new travel series Solo Traveling with Tracee Ellis Ross. Brace yourselves, because we couldn’t have been more accurate in that description.

Did we lie? That is a very large ensemble that will likely keep her cool on hot press days in New York. Personally, we wouldn’t want to haul around that much fabric when the temperature is above 90 degrees, but she loves herself some volume and this textile looks to be pretty lightweight. We can’t say we love the hi-lo skirt, but we’re surprised to admit that we love this for her. It’s breezy and full of personality. You aren’t likely not to notice her or to forget her the second she walks out of view. Aside from the skirt design, our only quibble is with the black pumps, which feel terribly wrong for this style. Way too businesslike. We wouldn’t recommend pumps at all for this (sandals seem like a no-brainer), but if she had to wear a pair, they should have been white.
