President of France Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte Macron arrived in London today for a state visit and Bill and Cathy were on hand to greet them. The princess got a little bit of ooh-la-la action going on in her style choices for the occasion.
This is going to sound like a very backhanded compliment because that’s exactly what it is: this design does a wonderful job of combining French chicness with upper class British stuffiness. While you can’t really go wrong in a Dior Bar jacket while greeting the French president, the color is insipid and unflattering on her. The hat is a nice change of pace from the usual Treacy fascinators and it feels like an attempt to Frenchify her look a little. We absolutely loathe the skirt, if we’re being honest. Flimsy and floaty, it doesn’t marry well with the jacket and it winds up looking cheap next to it. In semi-related news, the future king of the United Kingdom should not be doing his official duties in a beat-up old pair of dress shoes.
