When it comes to theme- or character-based red carpet looks, Margot Robbie may have gotten most of the attention this past year, but we really enjoyed the way The Little Mermaid star Halle Bailey managed to work ocean-based or island-themed elements into her style without being gimmicky about it. Then again, maybe the girl just loves herself a blue frock.
We almost love this. The color and print really stand out because it doesn’t come off like the same standard red carpet styles. It’s bold and photogenic. Having said that, the bodice is over-ruched, the bust is too tight, the textile looks a little chintzy and the twisted straps are one element too many. Still, she looks gorgeous in it. Hair and makeup are perfect.
