Art Directors Guild Awards 2023: Nicole Kidman in Schiaparelli Couture

We stan a queen who shows up and turns it out for the hard-working creative professionals who make her work look so good. Nicole Kidman stopped by the Art Directors Guild Awards (not normally an event teeming with A-list stars) to show her support, present her countryman Baz Luhrmann with the Outstanding Contribution to Cinematic Imagery Award, and model a killer Schiaparelli look.

Many years back, we gave Miss Nicole the kind of unasked-for advice for which we should rightly receive enormous compensation. We told her that her style sweet spot was “witchy glam” and we like to think that she’s run with that advice ever since. It’s a rare thing for someone to come alive in pictures when they’re wearing all black, but she really does look amazing in it. And if that black is slinky and sexy and has a darkly whimsical undertone to it, all the better. The design of the dress is pretty simple and if we have any critique, it’s that it looks like her left boob is struggling to free itself. Obviously, it’s that astounding heart choker that utterly makes the look and we’re happy to see that she was smart enough not to try and fight it. The shoes are sexy and well-chosen, but they don’t fight with the rest of the look for attention. She looks hot.
