We’re going to go out on a limb here and suggest that Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson just may have coordinated their looks for the Jungle Cruise premiere at Disneyland.
Sure, it’s possible they both opted for ensembles in cream and white without consulting each other. Coincidences have been known to happen, after all. But we think it’s safe to say they collectively opted to go for looks that evoke tropical resort wear to give an appropriate Jungle Cruise sort of vibe without coming off looking a little… well, colonialist, we guess. We’re also starting to piece together why Emily’s been favoring so many huge-shouldered looks for this promotional tour. She’s standing next to Captain Hugeshoulders, the broadest man in Hollywood. We’re only half-joking on this. It actually does make sense for her to choose big silhouettes in order to literally stand toe-to-toe with such a physically overwhelming co-star.
Having said all that, we’re not a hundred percent on either of these looks. His is pure DadWear that benefits tremendously from his physicality filling it. Otherwise, the pieces are bland. He’s sporting a tucked-in sweater vest, for God’s sake. Her look is interesting, but only when we attempt to forget the string of high-level red carpet looks from the House of Schiaparelli lately, all of which were far more head-turning if not downright eye-popping. We get it; she was going for something cool and easy, with a sense of strength and presence to it, but both pieces come off too tricky and over-designed for their own good. That top has possibilities, but it’s fighting with those pants.
