Look, everyone! Look! It’s Mrs. Cathy in her signature look! Stop the presses!
Aw, we’re not being bitches about it. Not really. It’s chic and regal and very much the established Cambridge look. As we’ve said before, she’ll be dressing like this when she’s eighty. We’ll probably be dead by then, which is good, because we’ll have long run out of things to say about her endless supply of identical coats and coatdresses. If we want to be analytical about it, we suggest that she’s doing this for more than reasons of branding and long-term public stability. She’s also doing it because it means the only bad thing anyone can say about her public style is that it’s dull. There are no disasters on her C.V., no appearances on “Worst Dressed” lists – and there never will be. She’s selling an image; one that’s practically impermeable to outside criticism. Gotta respect that.
