Sometimes it seems like major glamour events like the Oscars and the Met Gala are situated so perfectly in the center of Miss Jennifer’s style sweet spot that she finds them fairly effortless. We are not naive about these things, though. Each of these looks was about as haphazard as neurosurgery in their planning. The whole point to being a glamour diva is to give the illusion that mega-glamour just oozes out of your pores naturally. In other words, girlfriend’s on her home turf. She doesn’t get things wrong there.
Jennifer Lopez in Tom Ford
Seriously, what is to be nitpicked here? She’s J Lo. It’s the Oscars. That’s a Tom Ford gown made out of mirrors and it fits her like a dream. The boxes have all been checked off.
Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad Couture
We called it “butterfly” in the title because it scanned better, but this is really more of a hummingbird motif – and it looks fantastic on her. She wore these gowns in the correct order. The Oscars red carpet calls for simple, iconic, high-impact glamour, but the after-party allows for a little more fun, sexiness and shape to enter the mix. The hair is perfectly zhuzhed, the sandals are flawlessly matched, and she’s got her hand on the exact hip the dress demands her to put her hand on. Done, done and done. Again, all the boxes have been checked off and there’s really nothing to be said except “You did it again, girl.”
She’s a damn pro, is what she is.
