Ending our first day of Oscars 2026 coverage with our unanimous pick of the best dress of the night, bar none. If I Had Legs I’d Kick You star Rose Byrne knocked this one out of the park.

We don’t like mermaid hems, black-backed florals or the trend for those stiff, squared-off busts, and yet here we are, declaring this frock containing all three elements as the very best of the night. It just goes to show that you shouldn’t be rigid or dogmatic about your style preferences, because inevitably, someone somewhere is going to prove them wrong for you. We have no notes here. We usually think her preference for severe hair works against her, but that chignon is lovely and elegant. The necklace is absolutely gorgeous. She’s styled perfectly and we don’t think she ever looked so good.
