SONG SUNG BLUE Star Kate Hudson in Erdem at the 2026 Directors Guild of America Awards

Okay, we’re gonna have to backtrack on our observation from last week regarding Song Sung Blue star Kate Hudson’s view regarding her Oscar nomination and the sense that perhaps she’s not quite in it to win it. Girlfriend is clearly still in campaigning mode:

This is such an “almost” dress. We almost love it. It’s almost perfect for her. It’s very much in that Prestige Actress mode that one comes to expect from any female Oscar nominee, which is partially why we find it almost appealing. She doesn’t go for this style all that often so it feels a little fresh on her. She looks fantastic in dark blue. The jewel embellishments strike us as being a little too large for an irregular placement featuring so many of them, but the overall effect is lovely. Our two biggest issues are with the fit, which looks pretty snug on her, like she can’t raise her arms, and the raw edges, which is a thing we tend to hate and which does nothing at all for the design. As for styling, the makeup is pretty but the hair looks too casual for the dress. We like the earrings but they don’t pop for pictures and we maintain our longstanding position that those mules are a little tacky.
