The latest pseudo-Kennedys, Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette stars Paul Anthony Kelly and Sarah Pidgeon, came to the Empire State Building to pose in very un-Kennedy outfits.

That is a lot of black leather for a day event. Credit where it’s due: they’re both well cast. At least in relation to a lot of other Kennedy biopics, where every actor with big teeth and every brunette with brown eyes routinely gets cast to play people they don’t resemble.

We realize that one doesn’t necessarily wear a leather dress because one is chilly and looking to bundle up, but we’ll always find the combination of a nearly ankle-length leather dress and a pair of naked sandals to be a baffling one. Granted, this is a sleeveless ankle-length leather dress, which means she’s standing there looking like bother her arms and her feet are cold. Also the neckline is too high and the seaming is doing weird things around the waist.

We wonder if they’re trying to work a vaguely ’90s aesthetic because of who they’re playing. She’s got that sort of Calvin Klein circa 1995 thing going on and he looks like every 1995 finance bro leaving the office on a Friday. Everything looks nice here, but the outfit’s not interesting.
