Well, we now have inarguable confirmation that the Queen of the Netherlands reads this blog and hangs on our every word. Queen Max took Finnish First Lady Suzanne Innes-Stubb to the House of the City venue in Rijswijk to focus on violence against woman and femicide. Not exactly a light or pleasant topic, but at least they both dressed nicely for the occasion.

Ms. Ines-Stubbs’s pink suit is lovely and impeccable. While we can’t say the same about the Queen’s dress, which is legitimately horrifying, we want to focus on the good hair and the surprisingly adept color-mixing, two things we’ve been complaining about regarding her style choices all year. We like to think she’s corrected herself after all our haranguing. The coat is gorgeous and does a whole lot to disguise the horror of that frock, but we’re most impressed by the hat, bag and shoes, which are not attempts to match the coat but to coordinate with it. Those lighter touches of gray elevate the look in a way that wouldn’t have been possible if all the accessories were the same color. We continue to be completely baffled by her ideas about where brooches go.
