The stars came out for Vogue World: Hollywood, a combination runway show, red carpet, and movie costume celebration that inspired the stars to dress up like it matters to them. Let’s assess these somewhat impressive efforts!

Ashley Park in Wiederhoeft

It’s kind of cute (or it would be if you ripped off all of those bows), but the proportions feel way off. Like that skirt should probably be a couple of inches longer for this to work. The shoes look comical with it.

We don’t like the fringe, the heaviness or those awful shoes, but the color looks nice on her.

Brian Tyree Henry
Pin

Love it. Those proportions are perfect for him.

Camila Cabello in Vivienne Westwood
Pin

Oh, look. A hideous skirt.

Cynthia Erivo in Vintage Dior

She must be enjoying this moment of calm before she has to start dressing insane again for the Wicked: For Good publicity tour. The low-key vibe looks great, but those shoes are horrible.

Da’Vine Joy Randolph in Christian Siriano
Pin

Very fun, very high fashion, but those babyheads are a bit much.

Dakota Johnson in Valentino
Pin

The pink part of the dress is very pretty, but the bust and halter are awful.

Demi Lovato in Ludovic De Saint Sernin
Pin

It would look tacky even if the undergarments were white, which they should have been.

Eiza González in Mugler
Pin

Love the dress, hate the bra straps, laughing at the footwear.

Haley Lu Richardson in Nué
Pin

Why did everyone choose shoes that ruin their outfits? Was that part of the dress code? Pick the wrong shoes?

Halle Bailey in Lever Couture
Pin

It’s pretty and super-fussy. The color looks gorgeous on her. The shoes look dumb.

Heidi Klum in Vivienne Westwood
Pin

Heidi, you’re a mess.

Jennifer Connelly in Louis Vuitton
Pin

The dress is gorgeous. The boots don’t go.

Jennifer Hudson in Harbison Studio
Pin

We like the coat, but that print looks too heavy for a dress and too busy for a matched set. The gold embellishments look terrible.

Jesse Williams
Pin

Stunning. Love that color. Hate those square toes.

Kathryn Hahn in Lanvin
Pin

Not to be backhanded about it, but it’s so nice to see her get one totally right. The color looks gorgeous on her and the design is elegant and just unusual enough to suit her. Love the earrings.

Lizzo and Tyler Perry
Pin

We’re not super in love with the hip exposure, but that’s a pretty hot dress. His coat is overwhelming and shapeless.

Machine Gun Kelly in Jean Paul Gautier
Pin

Works for us. Love the pants, hate the pearls.

Madelaine Petsch
Pin

It’s okay, but it would be a lot better without the keyhold. The textile looks chintzy and heavy, however.

Michelle Monaghan in Magda Butrym
Pin

Satanic proportions. Absolutely evil.

Miley Cyrus in Saint Laurent
Pin

This is so fun until you get to the shoes. You’re giving ’60s biker lesbian from the knees up. Why would you go ’80s corporate on the bottom?

Mindy Kaling in Hermès‎
Pin

The skirt’s kind of nice, but that top is too complicated for its own good. Can’t say we’re loving the drab color all that much.

Nicole Kidman in Chanel
Pin

Who could argue with any of that?

Olivia Munn in Rabanne
Pin

It’s striking, but the gold parts look a little too craftsy to us.

Taraji P. Henson in Off-White
Pin

We’re all for fashion that takes inspiration from activewear, and we actually like the bodice here, but everything below the waist looks ridiculous to us.

Tracee Ellis Ross in Givenchy
Pin

God bless and keep this nutty broad.

Viola Davis in Swarovski Couture
Pin

Smart enough not to be talked into something silly. The dress is pretty, but the clashing gold of the shoes kind of bugs.

Yseult

There’s a way to wear a body suit on a red carpet and look elegantly chic. This is the way.
