If this outfit looks familiar to you it’s because Gwyneth Paltrow made it famous in 1996’s Great Expectations. Most fashion watchers would peg it as one of the most iconic cinema fashion looks of the decade. We never particularly loved this design. The green is hard to wear and the pieces look as clingy and flimsy as pajamas. Gwyneth turned it into a Moment because it was so perfectly suited to her. The sandals are cute, but between them and the rather low-key head styling, we don’t feel like this is pulling together well. You need a certain sort of unfussy elegance to pull this off and the styling went in a sporty direction instead. There’s also the fact that this shade just does not look good on her and that’s a terrible top if you’re going to have a mic clipped to you. We’re intrigued by this choice and we have some admiration for trying to make it work, but in the end, it just doesn’t.
