We interrupt this latest round of self-aggrandizement to explain that After The Hunt star Ayo Edebiri came to Late Night working the kind of fashion we’ve been begging her to adopt from the minute she hit it big. Like a lot of comics or comedic actors who hit it big in their twenties, she seemed mostly bemused by the high-fashion expectations suddenly thrust on her. It was never that she had a history of bad choices; just exceedingly safe ones or occasionally quirky ones that weren’t quite at the level her stardom asks for. But now, she’s achieved her final form: Ayo Edebiri, movie star.

It’s also the kind of savvy choice that speaks of experience. It’s bold and eye-catching, but she’s comfortable and confident in it. It asks little of her but delivers a lot. And there’s a real sense of grownup sophistication. This is our favorite look of hers, easily. The hair is adorable.
