Pretty much the whole star-studded case of Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery came to the Toronto International Film Festival premiere. The highly coordinated looks ranged from under-styled to overwrought, with most of the cast sticking to a black or white theme. Shall we assess them together? Oh, why not? Let’s be naughty bitches.
Andrew Scott
We groaned so loud at the sight of this — and they weren’t the good kind of groans. He insists on going for styles to which he’s so ill-suited that they actually make him look dorkier. It’s too shiny and too pale for him. He needs to stop going for the types of styles that are better suited to Andrew Garfield and Austin Butler.
Cailee Spaeny in Chloé
Bleh. That’s WAY too much white lace for someone not being baptized or married.
Daniel Craig
Well, that certainly looks comfy. Love the style, but those pants are a little balloony.
Glenn Close
It’s an interesting take on a lady tux, but the jacket is simply too stiff and too short for her. Gorgeous brooch, though.
Jeremy Renner
That’s a lot of look for TIFF, but we don’t blame him for wanting to project a “back in fighting trim” sort of image. That’s too much black for three-piece suit and tie, but he looks pretty great.
Josh Brolin
Acceptable.
Josh O’Connor in Dior Homme
We take back what we said about Jeremy Renner looking a bit overdressed. He must’ve figured he’d need to step up his game if he was going to be standing next to this dandy. We appreciate the oddness of it, but that shirt and tie don’t work well with the suit at all.
Kerry Washington in Zuhair Murad
Simple, gorgeous, can’t argue with any of it.
Mila Kunis
Ditto — except for the shoes. We’ll argue with those. They’re way too distracting.
