The expanding cast of Wednesday joined director Tim Burton and showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar at the Natural History Museum in London to pose gothily in anticipation of the show’s upcoming second season.
What a great setting for this photo call. Given the abundance of highly photogenic backdrops in London, we’re surprised we don’t see more of this sort of thing and less of casts standing on rooftops.
Jenna Ortega
If this were the standard London rooftop photo call, we might have suggested that this look is a bit much, but in this setting, for this project, it works fabulously. There must be such a temptation if not outright pressure to dress like the character, but she manages to thread that needle, working darkly glamorous looks that suit her without going into cosplay. Those gloves are insane and we think we love them.
Catherine Zeta-Jones
Miss Lady is wearing her sittin’ shoes! Because there’s no way in hell she walked to her seat in those things. Again, we appreciate that she’s not dressing like Morticia for this thing. The suit’s nice enough, but we don’t really see what the beret or driving gloves have to do with it.
Joy Sunday
Such a fun look. Perhaps not entirely practical for doing dishes, but then again, this is not someone who looks like she has any interest in such thing. It’s a little goofy how the look combines Lady Who Lunches, schoolgirl, and drag queen, but somehow it works.
Isaac Ordonez
It’s a little bit cosplay-ish, if only because he looks so much like a Charles Addams cartoon come to life. There’s some sort of fringe situation with the shirt, but it seems to be under control in this shot. Love the rings.
Luis Guzmán
Nice jacket.
Steve Buscemi
Acceptable and profesh.
Emma Myers
This is the only one that feels a little tryhard in a setting like this. It might have worked out on the roof, but inside, you just look like a girl in a museum who lost her top. It’s a cute look, though.
Fred Armisen
It’s the perfect suit for him, but we think we’d dislike it on most other wearers.
Joanna Lumley
She will always give you a perfect model’s pose; hand positioned just so, legs in an impractically dramatic position, all of her angles catching the light exactly as she planned. The best part is, she used to send up this exact style of posing all the time on Absolutely Fabulous. All we’d need is the pursed lips and mildly surprised expression to turn this into a Patsy Stone moment. Anyway, she looks great. Love the jacket.
