The Fantastic Four: First Steps cast came out to the London premiere to shock and dazzle you with their weird fashion. Let’s assess.

It’s a nice suit, but wearing the lapel like that is just dumb and pretentious. Yes, it’s deliberate.

We’ve got to give her credit. She’s managed to secure some of the most eye-popping maternity wear we’ve ever seen on a red carpet. We don’t actually like this … we guess we’ll call it a “dress” – but we appreciate it for being so outrageously weird. The visibly uncomfortable footwear choices need to be retired for the duration.

It’s nice enough, but we’ll never understand why you’d go to the trouble of wearing a shirt with French cuffs but not bother with a tie. It just looks like you’re not finished getting dressed.

So many of these guys are trying to a sort of studied, curated casualness, but that’s harder to pull off than it looks. You can’t really manage it by wearing a fine suit without a dress shirt. It just looks weird and half-assed. It might have been slightly improved if he’d buttoned his jacket.

We have to admit, we thought this color was going to be all over the promo styles, but it’s to the cast’s credit that they’ve been judicious about deploying it. The thing is, this vivid shade is great for a superhero costume, but it tends to make a suit look a little chintzy. We’d have liked it more with a contrasting shirt.

We suppose if you’re playing a variant of the Silver Surfer, a look like this is practically de rigueur. We like the toga-style draping, and we’d have been okay with the design if she’d just worn it with the bra top, but the sheer bodice is a bafflingly terrible choice. All of those seams ruin the visual and we can’t get over how terrible that neckline looks.
