Mamie Gummer, who we haven’t heard from in a minute or two, came to The Tonight Show to talk about We Were Liars, her limited series which dropped a month ago and we never heard of before now. Granted, the trailer (below) makes it look like roughly 75% of the limited series released in the last five years. But anyway! Let’s talk about her big yellow dress!

Seems like a lot! Then again, we just got finished saying that she’s been incognito and her series has been poorly promoted, so perhaps going a little extra was part of the game plan. Can’t say it’s not working, because she’s hard to miss and hard to forget in this look. Besides, there’s been a growing trend all year for stars to show up to talk show sets in red carpet-ready outfits. We’re surprised that we find this so appealing, since we think it’s a hard color for a blonde to pull off and we don’t like the combination of satin skirt and sweater, but somehow, this is working for her. We loathe the split sleeves, though. And we don’t think the shoe choice makes any kind of sense.

ABOUT THE SERIES:
Based on the best-selling novel by E. Lockhart, We Were Liars, the series follows Cadence Sinclair Eastman and her tight-knit inner circle, nicknamed ‘the Liars,’ during their summer escapades vacationing on their grandfather’s New England private island. On the surface the Sinclair family is known for their good looks, generational wealth, and close familial bond, but after a life-altering accident, everyone, not just the Liars, seems to have something to hide.

Starring “the Liars” Emily Alyn Lind as Cadence Sinclair Eastman, Shubham Maheshwari as Gat Patil, Esther McGregor as Mirren Sinclair Sheffield, Joseph Zada as Johnny Sinclair Dennis; alongside Caitlin FitzGerald as Penny Sinclair, Mamie Gummer as Carrie Sinclair, Candice King as Bess Sinclair, Rahul Kohi as Ed Patil and David Morse as Harris Sinclair.
