Joseph Quinn, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach
All weekend long, we looked at the photo wires and grimly muttered “We’ll have nothing for Monday” and every time one of us did, the other one would pipe up hopefully, “Fantastic Four is coming. Maybe that lot’ll do something.” And thus it came to pass. The titular four came out to Espace Niemeyer in Paris today for a photo call, presumably because of its space age aesthetic. If there’s one thing we know after all this time blogging, it’s the waxing and waning rhythms of the celebrity promotional calendar. Anyway, here they are, folks. Why don’t you give them a hand and encourage them to come out and give you a little twirl? Also, let’s judge them.
We get why they chose the space – sort of – but it’s a distracting backdrop for a promotional event. Everyone looks spiffy and professional, but we don’t think this is likely to be an eye-popping promo tour in terms of the fashion. Pedro can be pretty adventurous, but he’s firmly in a very casual mode at the moment. Joseph dresses like a first-year associate and it honestly suits him. Everything is of high quality, but nothing is particularly interesting. Ebon always dresses like he’s going to his bail hearing, although we’ll give him credit for usually having nice shoes. We made an observation about Vanessa’s style a long time ago that she tends to prefer the kind of blandly pretty but unchallenging gowns you’d see in a perfume ad; garments that flatter the wearer but don’t have too much personality. This is probably one of the more interesting looks we’ve seen her sport, although we can’t say we like it all that much. The color does nothing for her and the shape just makes it look like a sheet. Those gladiator sandals never flatter the wearer – ever.
