Well, it’s officially happening, whether you want it to or not. Anne Hathaway was spotted on location in New York shooting scenes for the upcoming sequel to The Devil Wears Prada.
Apparently, she’s heading to a hideous dress convention. We predict that this film is going to make the same mistake that the various post-Sex and the City series installments wound up doing, which is that it will put every character in eye-popping high fashion in every scene, whether it makes sense for them or not. So here’s the formerly fashion-shy Andy, in no less than four major luxury brands (and according to WWD, over $40,000 in jewelry). Granted, we don’t know what the storyline will be, but mark our words: We don’t know if Pat Field is coming back to do the costumes for his one, but every fashion house has already contacted whoever the film’s costume designer is and practically drowned them in couture pieces for the film. It’ll be an eye-popping fashion-fest for sure, but it probably won’t be the kind of costume design that makes much sense. Not that we think the fashion needs to be relatable or believable here, but sometimes these films overdo it, so the characters stop being aspirational figures and start looking, well… silly.
