Going by her last two ensembles at the Cannes Film Festival, Isabelle Huppert is feeling a little Britney, a little honky tonk, a little Canadian formal wear. As you can see by the above, we’re talking denim. She’s suddenly addicted to it.

Personally, we feel that if you’re getting your denim fix from Balenciaga, you’re missing the point of both denim and Balenciaga. There are ways to to denim elegantly. Zac Posen’s been turning out denim formalwear for his favorite ladystars ever since he took creative control at the GAP, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph wore a pure stunner to the Met Gala last year. And of course, there are ways to do denim as a stylish day look; a point so obvious, proven so many times, that we feel almost silly pointing it out. It’s just that this suit is so awkward-looking that we momentarily felt the need to remind ourselves. And speaking of awkward…
