Because of the American holiday, we are WAY past due on the task of clearing out our Cannes Film Festival folders. The festival closed over the weekend, and many of the stars had a final blast of fabulosity on the red carpet before heading home. Let’s yell at our opinions to them anyway. And if aren’t 100 hundred percent caught up on all of our Cannes coverage, how very sad for you. You should rectify that immediately.
Alba Rohrwacher in Dior Couture at the Closing Ceremony
This is one of the most conventional looks we’ve seen her wear all week, even though the proportions are more exaggerated than the norm. It looks great.
Aubrey Plaza in Miu Miu at the “Honey Don’t” Premiere
She’s had a very rough year after her husband’s death in January and this had to have been a hard thing for to do again, although she’s making it look like a blast. The dress isn’t to our tastes at all but we can understand why she’d want to ramp up the glam and the somewhat distracting visual interest rather than appear dour.
Danielle Haim, Alana Haim and Este Haim in Louis Vuitton at “The Mastermind” Premiere
We haven’t always liked their collective red carpet style, but they look gorgeous here. Sure, there’s a whiff of prom in the styles, but they’re well coordinated and distinct from each other and every dress flatters the wearer.
Gillian Anderson in Emilia Wickstead at “The Mastermind” Premiere
All the interest is in the color, which is probably as it should be with a shade as vivid as this one. Saturated greens aren’t always easy to wear, but it looks pretty good on her and the simplicity of the design is appealing. We wouldn’t like some overthought frock rendered in this color.
Halle Berry in Dior Couture at the Closing Ceremony
It’s not entirely to our taste — too lacy, not loving the teensy bow — but she looks beautiful and elegant in it. Her hair is fantastic. It’s nice to see curls and waves and bounce come back.
Jane Fonda in Oscar de la Renta at the Closing Ceremony
The bodice looks fantastic with her hair, but we’d have liked a dark skirt here.
Juliette Binoche in Prada at the Closing Ceremony
The skirt is interesting and we can see the case for the jacket, but the t-shirts look terrible.
Margaret Qualley in Chanel Couture at the “Honey Don’t” Premiere
This may be the prettiest thing she’s ever worn – washed-out color, bow and all.
Paris Jackson in Vivienne Westwood at the “Honey Don’t” Premiere
It looks fantastic on her and feels extremely generic at the same time.
Simone Ashley in Prada at the Closing Ceremony
An absolute Personal Best for her. Your red carpet look doesn’t have to be conventional and simple to work, but if you go that route and keep every detail impeccable, you simply cannot go wrong. That color looks amazing on her and this is the most chic she’s ever looked.
