You could see this current round of appearances by Walton Goggins as a victory lap for the just-completed third season of The White Lotus or you could see it as promotional work for the final season of The Righteous Gemstones or you could be smart like us and just say that he’s out campaigning for his Emmy nomination for one or both of those roles. Either way, the man served looks.

He’s got true style, in the sense that he dresses in interesting outfits that feel very true to his personality and aesthetic. He’s somewhere on a continuum between “dandy” and “aging rock star” in terms of style. Mostly, he comes across to us like he knows what he wants and he knows what he’s doing, so any quibbles or suggestions we’d have wouldn’t matter. This all works. We think that outfit would look more appropriate for a 90-year-old if anyone else was wearing it, but he lands it some swag and certain level of don’t-give-a-shit.

Again, if anyone else wore a pin-striped suit on a talk show, we’d say they either looked like a gangster or looked too businesslike, but he lends everything he wears its own special flair. We don’t really like any of his choices here, but he looks so confident and comfortable with them that it doesn’t matter.
