We gave Colman Domingo his own spotlight post because [insert reason here but mainly because he’s Colman Domingo], but it’s now time to check in on some of the other stylish attendees at the African-American Film Critics Association Awards.

Love the afro and the bag, but the suit/shirt situation looks way more complicated than it needs to be.

Oop. Forget what we said yesterday. Looks like the clown clothes are here to stay. The suit is nice and respectable, if a little dull. The coat is exuberant, but ultimately we think it just looks silly. We might like it more over something that isn’t fighting with it for attention. In other words, something neutral. A black suit would have been great here.

He keeps showing up at these events in outfits that look half-assed and ill-fitted to him. We’re not sure what he thinks this is doing for him at this time. We shouldn’t be seeing drawstrings and underwear on an awards ceremony red carpet.

The skirt is gorgeous and we love the cummerbund, but that top is terrible.

Impeccable. The color looks fantastic on him and the grooming is flawless.

We never love coats matched to dresses and we feel like this one is the very definition of overkill. The metallic textile calls for a little contrast or something. We hate the idea of a coat so long it’s dragging on the floor being paired with a mini-dress. And finally, those buttons are dumb.

It almost works, but the cuffs need to be adjusted so they fit her better, the hem needs an inch or two taken off of it, and she should be sporting black pumps and a black belt.

This is fantastic. It doesn’t need a thing and she smartly kept the styling low-key.
