Laverne Cox has a new sitcom coming out (which may explain her sudden departure as an E! Red Carpet host) and she opted to do a little bit of Madonna cosplay as she made the promo rounds. And by “a little bit of Madonna cosplay,” we mean replicating her iconic look from 1994’s “Take a Bow” video.
We’re not entirely sure why she felt like getting her Evita on at this exact moment, but we can’t say it bothers us. Granted, we’d have preferred she not replicate the styling exactly because that gets way too Halloween for our tastes, but it’s a legitimately iconic look and we can’t get mad at it. Having said that, we hate the hem and the leopard belt. The hat looks a little severe to us.

This heartfelt Norman Lear comedy follows Harry (George Wallace), an old-school car wash owner in Alabama who has a lot of soul searching to do when the child he thought was a son returns as a proud, trans woman, Desiree (Laverne Cox). Her homecoming brings together a hilarious cast of friends, coworkers, and love interests, as Desiree and Harry try to get it right the second time around.
